So guise, do you know who's in my avatar?

I don't. In fact, I was gonna ask who that guy was.

Posting this song because I've been diggin' it for the past while. That solo starting at 2:25 is fucking magical.

Stephen Carpenter, Deftones. While he isn't a super technical player, he can really write a solid song.

Plus, it looks cool when he headbangs.

Its things like this that I should be able to guess.

I never really got heavy into black metal but I still enjoy Enslaved, Equilibrium, Moonsorrow-

Recommend me some Moonsorrow songs. They're touring with Korpiklaani soon, and I need you to give me recommendations.

From everything I've heard this seems to be their best album to date. I'll have a hard time dethroning Spirit of the Forest, but Wooden Pints will always have a place in my heart. That was the single song that got me listening to Folk Metal.

Oh? Because from the review I read at one of my metal sites they've said that Manala was either gonna be something fans will want or not like at all. For me, it was admittedly Vodka that got me into Korpiklaani, but the song that sealed the deal was Happy Little Boozer, Hunting Song and Bring Us Pints of Beer.

...I like fast tempos.

To be honest I like the musical direction they're going, and it really appeals me. Korpiklaani's "Wooden Pints" was the first folk metal song that I ever heard. I have them to thank for sending me in this direction. Of course Finntroll and Ensiferum had a huge part in that as well.

Brushing your hair is for people who care and someone who cares is not I, I'll jump off a bridge and then fill up your fridge,
and best pony is Fluttershy.

Never even heard of them, but awesome nonetheless. Has a very Tobias Sammet feel to it, just with a lower pitch. Sweden isn't very capable of producing bad metal.

People saying that djent bands besides Meshuggah are ripoffs of Meshuggah really get to me. If you enjoy music like theirs, it'll show in your songwriting. Simple as.

And now for something completely different. Slice the Cake just released their first album this year. I think it's incredible; seeing how deathcore gets a pretty bad reputation, it's nice to know that bands like this, The Contortionist, and others are keeping the good parts of this style very much intact.

The most popular Three Inches of Blood song ever.

Pretty sweet, but I think it'll fall into the category of "WE'VE HEARD IT TOO MANY FUCKIN' TIMES! STOP IT!" after a while, moreso than others at least.

If you're a fan of Adrenaline Mob, Dream Theater or any of Mike Portnoy's works, and you know how to take a joke, watch this.

Also, I found a sketch that raises the question of whether or not djent is a genre. I think it is.

Oh, it is a genre, but my problem is that there's a limit between making a really good song and making a song in 5069/432 time signature. If you can differentiate them, then the Djent scene would look pretty good. If not, fuck off and listen to some Thrash.

This thread needs more Sabaton. Carolus Rex is an amazing album, I really like the direction they're going in with their new stuff.

The sketch says that djent is a guitar tone rather then a genre. I would say the word refers more to the polyrhythmic and polymetric nature of the music. Also, 5069/432? Challenge accepted.
