Ziltoid the Omniscient has the perfect blend of Heavy stuff (By Your Command, Planet Smasher...) and soft stuff (The Greys, Hyperdrive, Solar Winds...) that isn't really found on other Devy albums, which usually stick to a specific style.

 

But Infinity had a weird, child like tint to it (Bad Devil, Ants, Noisy Pink Bubbles) that make the record so fun, while at the same time having some of the greatest atmosphere's I've heard in EVER (Unity, Truth, Soul Driven), which is what makes Devy really unique - fun and absurdity plus build up!

Can we at least agree on the fact that Ocean Machine was a solid album? I mean, it had some good atmosphere on songs like Sister and all, and Life is just plain old catchy. Plus, Night is just an amazing song. The song captures some nice feels and all, and I love that chorus.

Yeah, and the final three tracks on the album (Bastard, The Death Of Music, Things Beyond Things) are stunning closers. Sure, why not.

Still, I like Ziltoid more. Ocean Machine would be a close second, though.

Well, that album is badly produced, and the songs aren't really well written.

 

I don't hate it (hey, it gave me In The Rainy Season and Happy Camper AND that Exciter cover!), but it's definetely my least favourite SYL (and one of my least favourite Devy) releases.

Okay, remember how I said Scar Symmetry's original lead singer left? Well this is the band he's in now:

 

 

Dude still has a knack for combining growls with clean vocals and since the two vocal types are polar opposites they make each other sound better when he does them both in one song. Christian is definitely one of my favorite vocalists, only beaten by my favorite David Draimon.

Well, that's what happens when you have friggin' Marty Friedman teaming up Mustaine!

 

 

A cover album of Japanese songs (if I'm correct). Like I said, Friedman is top notch.

I thought about Indiviudal Djent Patterns, but that was too long. And a benefit of Living Djenstrosity is that the song comes up if you google it, with "Perrenial Djent", the one I thought sounded nice out of them, you didn't get Deaeth as the first result.

Sweet song, but they're not 80s speed metal - especially with those keys. They're definitely power metal - also considering the fact they're from Germany I'm not surprised.

Oh yeah, I remember this song. Definitely love the Onslaught cover of it too, dat ending solo.

 

And that explains why I like them. I seem to have a knack for finding power metal without realizing it.
