More After The Burial because I'm getting re-addicted to them.

For some reason, as gimmicky as they are, I find myself liking Ghost.

They remind me alot of some other artist, and it's killing me that I can't name them at the moment.

Warbringer is awesome! What do you think of their 2011 release? And that sounds like a really thrashy show to be at. If only I had money. And was willing to run that far.

Personally, I like it. It's not as raw as War Without End or as evil as Waking Into Nightmares, but it has a creepiness in the songwriting that I like (cases like Echoes From The Void, Demonic Ecstasy) while still keeping the thrash bits in. And its a North American tour. If you're in NA, there's a chance they'll be coming to one of the big cities.

inb4 Dawn goes off about Heartwork predating Lunar Strain

It's not like Reek of Putrefaction was the first Grindcore album. I was referring to how they were both one of the pioneers of a genre, and later become something less "hard".

Here's something completely out of the box in music, if you're willing to take a step in.

These guys are awesome, and I have the only merch from them (I had to make it myself :3). Here's what Got-Djent has them down as in terms of genre: ambient black metal experimental progressive metal

They are DEFINITELY experimental though. Here's their Bandcamp page: http://mtwhdtdtic.bandcamp.com/album/window-to-the-world-2

Tracks 4, 6, and 7 on the album get to me. Mmmmmm~

I'm not sure if Mansoor's mixes are actually better, or if I'm just delusional for anything having to do with him

The guitar seems so hidden underneath everything else in the official version.

Love these guys. One of the most experimental bands I've ever heard.

Good shit.

That definitely does have an interesting sound to it, I might actually download that album sometime, maybe if I actually had a credit card then I would, damn it.

Personally my favorite aspect of them is their ambiance  They are just god-like with that stuff. Heh, they even seem to have branded "death trance".

I guess they are sort of like In Flames in that regard.

CARCASS INVENTED MELODIC DEATH METAL NOT IN FLAMES!!!

inb4 Dawn goes off about Heartwork predating Lunar Strain

Well it's true, Heartwork came out in 1993 and Lunar Strain didn't come out until 1994.

later become something less "hard".

Carcass' later albums weren't "soft". They were pretty heavy, Swansong is heavier sounding than Whoracle. *Gets attacked by In Flames fans in 3, 2, 1...*

OMG STFU IN FLAMES IS ORIGENL BAND GTFO.

Nah I only found them when I heard Soundtrack to Your Escape. I love a good 80% of their material, but their later stuff is whats special to me.

I only like their early stuff. I like a good 30% of their material. The albums I like by them are Lunar Strain, Whoracle and The Jester Race. I dislike Come Clarity (but I think everyone on here knows that already.)

Eh, In Flames newer material, while I can't say that it's bad, I wouldn't really go so far to say that Soundtrack to Your Escape, Come Clarity and A Playground Fading are better than the classics like The Jester Race, Whoracle, and Colony, but anyways while on the subject of Melodeath, have some Norther

You haven't even listened to the full album yet. You can't judge when you don't know much about their newer stuff. Unless your talking about the title track, in which yeah, it was bad.

CARCASS INVENTED MELODIC DEATH METAL NOT IN FLAMES!!!

Two things. One, Carcass invented a lot of extreme metal genres but most notably Grindcore - melodeath isn't even that notable of an accomplishment for those guys (if I read shit right). Second, from the only available resources I have (ie wikipedia and About.com, as I have no other places to search properly), the four most notable bands that started Melodeath are...

At The Gates, with Slaughter of the Soul

Carcass, with Heartwork (apparently)

Dark Tranquility, with The Gallery

and now for the plot twist: In Flames with The Jester Race. The whole point of this rant? Chill out, retort in a timely and proper manner, and gather all the evidence you can regardless of whether the source is unwelcome to others.

Now, Hexen.

That main riff is so yummy.

I swear on my life, if someone brings up the goddamn title track from Come Clarity again...I think you guys have talked enough shit about it, let's just drop it please. I still like it btw.

I haven't listened to In Flames ever. For some reason I was just never interested, but due to all o this talk about them I feel obligated to do so.

Ah well, for a later date I suppose. Right now I'm listening to Autotheism by The Faceless (for the 3rd time!) and it's beginning to grow on me now. I would have much preferred a standard Faceless tech-death album, but this isn't SO bad.

It's kind of interesting, at least. It reminds me almost of a death metal take on something Devin Townsend would do, though this directly attacks religion whereas I don't think he'd ever do that.

No one brought up that track yet right now - I was just trying to correct someone. Settle down bruh, no need to stir the pot again.

I only have the albums "Come Clarity" and "Sounds of a Playground Fading" right now, but I think In Flames is pretty good. I would personally recommend Come Clarity, but AtDawnTheySquee likes to talk a lot of shit about it and says it sucks, so i guess it just depends whose opinion you trust more.

Actually, Moog just mentioned it, you silly filly. Also, I got into this big argument with AtDawnTheySquee about it, so I'm kind of sick of it being brought up.

I like how I'm going to listen to their entire discography, like I do with any band. No need to bring up trust into this, bruddah.

More Faceless for lack of anything else to post.

Great song to kick off an album to, especially a debut. Really showcases who they are, what they do, and why their a bit different.

I've already read the previous pages about that. That's why I said try not to sweat it. On the other end.

Was this really necessary though?

The tittle track is fucking awful, Leeches is alright, Crawl Through Knives isn't too bad. It's the title track that really urks me.

First of all, it's spelled "irks" not "urks"

Second of all, just because you don't like it doesn't make it fucking awful, breh. kthxbai

Here have some Textures. I really need a new amp sim. Playing and "recording" off of my iPad is a pain and the quality is really sub-par. GIMME SOME PODFARM SO I CAN SOUND LIKE THESE GUYS or rather sound good at all.

Anyway, since people were talking about what genres of metal they like or whatever, I think I would say that I like alternative, progressive, thrash, and metalcore.
