Hunger Games? Is it as violant as everyone who reviews it mentions?

I was trying to read reviews on The Hunger Games as despite originally putting it down I thought back to my Kindle and how I never use it...I thought maybe I'll check it out just to see what it's like...But is it really as good as everypony says it is? Is it as violant?

I like character driven books like Unwind. If The Hunger Games is anywhere near as good as that...Consider it checked out via online library.

Oh, Hunger Games is amazing. Extremely well written, hard to put down, and a pretty quick read. It is violent, but it isn't super detailed and graphic about it, and it definitely isn't over the top. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it has violence, but it doesn't detract from the rest of the book.

I will warn you though, the second isn't nearly as good (it's still good though), and the third book is depressing as all hell :(

The author is supremely talented. It is very, very, very well written. The author has a stellar story-telling ability and explores very deep themes. It frequently makes me laugh out loud for a while (while other parts, I cry) but it is definitely worth a read. I could not put the first book down! I highly recommend it. Seriously.

Also, I don't do gore. I could read this.

Pinkie Pie is my favoritest of the mane six for several reasons, but most importantly because she always has a good attitude. The others can doubt her, say somewhat unkind things, not believe her, and she just rolls with it. I also love her because her self-defined purpose in life is to make others happy. I believe her balloons cutie mark actually represents her uplifting others. Her amazing dimension bending and psychic powers are a factor, too :) When poor Pinkie Pie looses her mind, well, it is quite humorous. She has her own depression demons to fight, yet focuses on others. The world will be a better place when she succeeds in breaking that 4th wall! >:D

I appriciate your thoughts about it. I just downloaded it on Kindle for five bucks...At that price I had to and I'm about to read it. I'll be back when I finish it.

I'm on chapter six right now. I can't even put into words how much I'm enjoying it. I was unsure but it's pretty good...

Alright I finished The Hunger Games...And I am SHOCKED at how aruptly it ended...Seriously!? SERIOUSLY!? If it wasn't for the fact I can't afford it right now I'd have bought the second one immedietly that and I gotta go to bed soon...My mom caught me reading and she knows me so she just said go to bed after you finished it when I said I was nearly done.

There are a few disturbing moments throughout the whole trilogy, mostly in mockingjay but it's not that bad.

Is it really good? A friend told me about it, and the plot just seemed ridiculous.

Reading an overview of the plot had turned me off. Then a friend whose opinion I trusted highly recommended it, which was the only reason why I gave it a shot. By the end of the first chapter, I could not put it down. Your friend may not have been articulate enough to convey the depths of the point of the book/trilogy. No overview or summary does it any justice. It is seriously worth a read - I very highly recommend it. The author addresses very important, very deep issues.

If you know anything about Harry Potter, for example, an overview might say something to the extent of "boy wizard goes to magic school makes friends but oh noes bad guys lololol," which really isn't the point or theme of Harry Potter. Hunger Games is kinda like that. It is MUCH more. I give The Hunger Games my personal seal of approval and highly recommend that you give it a shot. Really. Go borrow it, get from library, or buy :D

True that. The plot may seem unoriginal but it really depends on how it is executed imo.

Oh man, but it's so popular now that if I read it, it will seem like I just follow the crowds. :C

I promise it is worth it. Truly, the world would become a better place if everyone read it and actually understood the message.
