I'm sure I can't be the only progger brony here. So, whether it's classic prog from the 70's, newer prog, or progressive metal, feel free to discuss it here. Here are some of my favorite bands in the genre:

Genesis (Everything up to Duke, anyways)

Yes

Dream Theater

Coheed and Cambria

Between The Buried and Me

Closure in Moscow

IQ

Marillion

The Mars Volta

Pink Floyd

Airbag

Mandroid Echostar

The Dear Hunter

The Flower Kings

Your list shows a serious lack of Ayreon, Rush, and King Crimson.

And Symphony X, Kamelot, Human Abstract, Opeth, Shai Hulud, Enter Shikari, Serj Tankian, Never Awake, SikTh, Shadow Gallery, Quo Vadis, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Epica, Liquid Tension Experiment, Porcupine Tree, Presto Ballet, Into Eternity, Circus Maximus...

I have a very loose definition of prog, and I fucking love all of it :)

Edit: added more bands

I actually love Ayreon, Sleepytime Gorrila Museum, SikTh, and Porcupine Tree; I forgot to list them because I haven't been listening to them much lately. I just listed the bands I could think of at the moment, I enjoy a lot more than that. I like Rush and I have 2112 and Moving Pictures, and I'd probably be a lot more into King Crimson if their stuff was on Spotify.

Opeth is one of those bands that I've really wanted to get into but just haven't bothered to yet; I'll be sure to fix this soon though.

I approve of this thread   :yay:

Big fan of Ayreon and Dream Theater, and other bands that haven't been mentioned, Riverside, Transatlantic, Haken, Unitopia, Pendragon. I love female fronted bands too. Panic Room, Mostly Autumn, Touchstone, Magenta, Karnataka, The Reasoning. So many good ones.

If I could shamelessly plug myself, check out my YouTube channel below. I've been making PMV's with prog music for a while   ;)

Holy fudge! A prog fan!!! :D (the only reason I'm coming back for some time) I used to have a prog thread to post music, but the only thing peeps posted was Rush. While it's not bad, there was only rush. :/

So my fav groups are:

Genesis

Marillion

Saga

Yes

King Crimson

Citizen Cain

Camel

Gentle Giant

Harmonium

Some Citizen Cain if you're curious:

Never heard of Citizen Cain until now, but that song you linked is pretty awesome. They kinda remind me of Genesis but heavier and with more synths. Their singer even sounds like Peter Gabriel.

You should definitely check out IQ, their latest album in particular is amazing.

If anyone is interested, Dream The Electric Sleep released their second album this year, and it's pretty fantastic. Also, it's free on their bandcamp page.

What I showed you is their most metal work. :) I randomely discovered this group while listening to Camel. I had seen this group in the list a few time and I got curious. The first song I heard from them is Junk and Donuts, it's very great. (I haz 3 albums :3) And yea, he sounds alot like Peter Gabriel!

*I forgot to add Harmonium in my list.
