Will humans ever return to MLP universe?

Maybe but not in the G4, that would ruin everything and I think many bronies would be pissed off.

Good, let them be pissed off. Let all the misanthropes cry.

What were the humans' role in g1?

Unfortunately in the first G1 series 'My Little Pony 'n Friends' the human character (Megan) was the central character that provided all the resolutions. She was meant to be the audience insert, the one the little girls were supposed to identify with. Because of that many of her actions marginalized the actual ponies. The base story line was 'the ponies get into trouble, Megan pulls out the magical Rainbow of Light and saves the ponies.' Later in that series they added Megan's little brother and sister, in an attempt to provide even younger characters as audience inserts, as Hasbro was under the impression the average audience age for the franchise was dropping. Which might have been a self-fulfilling prophecy, to be honest.

All later series/specials/etc. such as G1.5's 'My Little Pony Tales' onwards didn't include humans.

I doubt it. My theory for MLP: FiM states that all the humans are dead because of a nuclear war. Unless some humans did in fact survive it... which I hope they did...

Having a human character in Equestria would not go well by the fans, though not me personally, I'd predict the Twilicorn freakout x2 on this one if it happens. I'm of the standpoint that it could possibly ruin the dynamic of the show if it's not handled with enough care. There's a limit as to what kinds of stories you can tell, and many of them wouldn't be satisfactory either to us or the people running this show (what's good for the unicorn won't necessarily be good for the Pegasus). If this goes off well, however, by some miracle or the creative staff's immense talents, then I have no reservations.

I would have to agree with the posts and say that I sure hope that they don't go that route. Part of what makes the show so unique and cool is that it really doesn't have any need to introduce humans into Equestria, so if they did it would more than likely just feel rushed and unnecessary and would make me question the shows motives a bit to be honest.

I like to think that everything does indeed take place in the same universe, but in times far, faaaar apart, whereas places like tartarus operate at different time rates.

Humans were at some point able to visit the pony dimension, since human didn't have to be altered, but ponies were, in order to be the "my little pony" type.  Then a hell of a lot of time passed that we never see, humans influenced the world of the ponies, and then died off or left, and the ponies were left with knowledge of English and the names of many real-world places, also written in English, though with a pony twist.  They also got knowledge of electricity and other mechanical devices, and anthropology is still a real possibility.

... lol it's crap.

Possibly in generation five (if of course there is one) there may be humans. But it wouldn't be canon to have humans go to Equestria as we have that portal for EG.

Looks like i'm one of the extremely rare people who would love to have at least a mentioning in euqestria....maybe Celestia mentions a race of highly intelligent ape-like beings?

Seriously, would just a tiny little mentioning of them really that bad?

How exactly would that even ruin the show if they just mention them just shortly and then continue with the usual friendship stuff, huh?

I know you all despise humans deeply and wish their extinction but the rest of the 6% from the fandom don't really share these views.

I think this more referring to humans becoming an active part of the show, ala Meghan from G1.

Very very very doubtful in G4 at least.  Aside from 'half-human' races like centaurs and minotaurs (and doubtly more of them than the single representative of each we've already seen), it just plain wouldn't work.  EqG's the closest you're gonna get, and with their strange sticklight proportions and alien skin complexions it's hard to exactly call them 'human'.

Now, when G5 and later gens roll around and are handled by different people, it may be a possibility -- but I sincerely hope it's kept to like a minimum of like "one mysterious badass wizard who's a villain for awihle" and things like that.  No full-blown human adventures like G1 unless they really, REALLY, REALLY design the humans well sot hey look like they fit alongside the ponies, and craft a universe so different from G4's that it doesn't feel like some kind of betrayal.

This i can understand but just a little hint of their existence?

They don't need to have an active role or be even alive but something in equestria's ancient history about them would be awesome.

How about them being former allies of the alicorns in an ancient war against beings of disharmony? Or maybe them being the former protectors of ponykind?

A positive mentioning of humans would decrease the rampant misanthropy in the fandom....or at least drive away the misanthropes.

This I wouldn't mind. It could be handled in a manner similar to Scorpan, where it's casually mentioned alongside something bigger so it doesn't take up an episode. As for the misanthropy, the best possible outcome is that it puts a rest to the "humans bad, ponies good" mentality. Worst case scenario is it splits the fandom worse than the Twilicorn scandal. It's a toss-up that mostly depends on how well Hasbro handles it.

So we had Megan and her siblings in G1

Will it happen again in future MLP generations? Or never will?

Well... I honestly think the only place that should be allowed is on the alternate world of Equestria where Canterlot High is.

Exactly.

I too woudn't really like a active role of them but just something minor.

And for the splitting....well, the fandom is alway torn apart. There is no real unity in the brony fandom...well at least from what i have seen.
