How similar are you to your 'best pony'?

I was just reading the 'Best Pony' poll thread and I saw a post mentioning that people choose their favourite in relation to their own personality. This got me thinking, did you choose your favourite pony because they're similar to your personality or because they represent aspects you lack or wish to improve upon? If the former, in what ways are you similar? For the latter, what aspects drew you to that pony?

Twilight is my favorite because I feel like we think the same way, and I admire and/or relate to pretty much everything about her. I also really sympathized with her during A Canterlot Wedding.

That's understandable. Fluttershy's not my favorite even though I'm a lot like her, and Rarity's my 2nd favorite even though I'm nothing like her. I think Twilight just represents the traits I like about myself.

I totally get where Twilight is coming from, which is definitely a big part of why I like her so much. I mean, maybe we have different areas of interest, but she's pretty much me to a T, aside from, you know, being a different species and wielding magic and being female and all that stuff. Fluttershy is much the same way, I really understand why she's as shy as she is. Rarity, on the other hand, I have no idea where that comes from...

I'm pretty similar to Rarity - I'm into artsy stuff and I take care of my appearance, and I'm also pretty emotional and over dramatic at times. I also wanted everyone to know my name,  or "be the type of pony every pony should know" for a while, but it's safe to say I'm not like that anymore.  I also enjoy meeting new people, like Rarity, but I'm also able to be overwhelmed, like Rarity

 

I also use a formal vocabulary, bit those who have heard me speak will tell you that my accent is anything but

Rainbow Dash is probably the Mane Six pony that I'm the least similar to.  Excepting, perhaps, the moments where she undervalues or doubts herself.  I'm drawn to her dynamism and generally self-confident nature.  To her irrepressible enthusiasm about certain things, as well as her sometimes tactless criticism of things she's NOT too enthusiastic about lol.  She's interesting and more complex than you might think at first blush; surprising even herself at times.

Well, Applejack is what the quiz said I was most like, but I chose Rainbow Dash as my best pony out of the mane 6 because I can relate to her (other than the anti-egghead stance, I took great pride in my studies in public indoctrination camp, and my gpa never dipped below a 3.7). But I relate most emotionally to Rainbow Dash, as I often want to be the physical best, beating all in competition and always having my name known for being the best of the best. So, since I share a similar drive to her, I relate to her plights in that area the most.

Well my favorite ponies are Applejack and Derpy. The only ways me and AJ are similar is we like apples and have a younger sibling. I'm like Derpy more cuz I act dumb a lot at school and I used to be real clumsy to.

Fluttershy and I are extremely similar, so I guess I did choose my favorite pony based on that. I can relate to Fluttershy, and seeing her face her challenges makes me feel better and stronger when facing mine. Well since Luna is best pony in my case here is a lift of things with have in common.

We both have a older sister!

Well, as much as I love Rarity, I can't say that I am really anything like her. I have never been particularly fashionable, sociable, or very good at artistic stuff and being creative.

My favourite pony is fluttershy. I guess am usually very quite and shy(not around friends though). I can be kind but not a comparative level to her and I do like animals( I love cats) but yet again not a comparative level to her. I feel that strangers may compare me to her.
I also like Applejack and I try to be hard-working, honest and determined. I am probably most similar to her apart from the fact that I do not like physical work.
I also like twilight sparkle and I do enjoy studying, using my mind and among my friends I am often the organiser and the sensible one.
overall I feel like I am quite similar to all these ponies but together but not that similar to any of my favourite ponies on their own.

Well this is hard to answer, because my Best Pony is in a constant state of flux. For the ponies that most frequently occupy the top spot, I have a lot in common with, the most common (right now at least) being Twilight (I love intellectual pursuits, reading, and hate disorganisation), AJ (I can be very stubborn and brutally honest, and would consider myself to be a hard worker) and Trixie (I can try a bit hard to impress, and can be somewhat arrogant from time to time.)
