Should Trixie have been punished?

She jailed everypony in Ponyville with the dome, she slaved everypony, she jailed Mayor Mare, she made Snips and Snails do forced physical work, she turned Ponyville into a distatorship hell... And she just regret and left Ponyville as if nothing happened.

What do you think?

Honestly? I think the Mane 6 had it coming. I really didn't like all the Trixie bashing the first episode she appeared in. She probably wouldn't have done all that maybe if the 6 weren't being jerks to her for expressing her talent.

I was routing for her the entire episode.

As for her being punished, I do in fact believe that she should in some manner.

Well, Ponies tend to forgive small-time villains very easily.

I consider her to be a major villain (at least during that episode). They should have used the elements of harmony against her and imprisoned her indefinitely. That's what I would have done. Gone straight to Canterlot.

I believe it was the fact that she really wasn't as big of a threat as she made herself out to be. Unlike Tirek or Discord, for that matter, she was just a mere pony. If Twilight couldn't take care of the job, then that's where I see royalty step in.

What phases me is how exactly did a powerful item get in the hands of that store owner? Lol

Her desire for power was growing as time passed. I think controlling Ponyville (with little effort) was driven by revenge but after seeing what she could do, she planned to conquer more ponies and the device was obviously sufficient for any villain's evil plans. While, Twilight had a plan, it could have  failed. A better plan would have been to sneak all her friends out at once.

Trixie is...justified in the things that she did. In Magic Duel, she's the Sylvester Stallone/Liam Neelson character who has lost everything, and is out to get revenge. The Mane Six went to her show and heckled her, even though it's a show, and they had the right to leave at any time. When she does the right thing and shows them up, they get pissed at her, for doing her job. Several minutes later, tweedledee and tweedledipshit lead a celestial bear into the center of town, because they're missing higher brain functions. Trixie gets her home crushed, and thanks to a Twilight ex Machina that we never see again, Twilight gets all the praise, and Trixie becomes a laughingstock everywhere.
So tally: she has no home, no job, no friends, she's a joke everywhere, and approximately none of it is her fault. If Trixie did anything wrong, it's that she took a downright Equestrian approach to this situation by just causing general mischief; quite a bit of people in her situation would've strapped on that Alicorn Amulet and painted Ponyville red.

Who says she wasn't punished?  We haven't seen any of Trixie since the incident, and just because Twilight forgave her doesn't mean she wasn't a wanted pony.

I kind of wanna see more of Trixie. She caused quite a bit of a havoc in Ponyville, but i think it was mostly the amulet making her particularly nasty. If anything, they could use the punishment as an excuse to have another episode with her :D

I disagree. She was justified in nothing. She was an arrogant pony with no real skills. A fraud that was justly called out. She just didn't want to do legitimate work and hated Twilight for actually being powerful at magic.

Would anyone consider this a good punishment for Trixie or is it worse than anything she's done?

All the ponies in Ponyville throw Trixie an apology party.  But Trixie gets hung and beat up like a pinata and hit in her groin several times.  Next, Trixie gets used as the donkey in pin the tail on the donkey.  Half of Trixie's cutie mark gets ripped off and everypony gives this to Trixie:

"Boo-hoo!  Looks like Twit-sie lost what made her special!"

"But what's so special about her!  She was a dumb fraud anyway!"

"That's because she's really a donkey, not a pony!"

Then Trixie gets twirled around on the dance floor with a bunch of ribbons and kicked to a table.  Finally, Trixie gets force-fed the cake.  To wash it down, Trixie is given some punch, but it turns out to be drugged.  She passes out and everypony send her floating off to dragon territory in hopes she won't a fraud anymore.  Somepony tells Trixie this while making a rape face:

"Have fun with the dragons, the gross and powerless Twit-sie!"

Twilight finds out that Trixie is in the dungeon in Canterlot.  She takes a trip to Canterlot to plead for clemency on her behalf.

I say no, because the townspeople had her home literally destroyed. Fair's fair.

The Ursa destroyed it, the town had nothing to do with it

So Trixie's talent is being a pompous bufoon? No, she really needed her ego broken

nope because trixe is awesome and princess Luna would have helped her.

Why would Luna take time out of her night/day to visit an arrogant weakling?

Oh lord, Trixie is so oppressed yet she has enough bits to buy the Alicorn Amulet

Physically hurting an audience member is a jerky move, not to mention lying about her feats. It'd be like someone claiming that they could kill a lion because they have a machette and making everyone believe it

She had a torture spell ready, that's hardly pathetic

And being a prick tends to make people hate you. All of it is her fault for being such an arrogant fool

~snip~

What in the actual fuck? That's just sadistic and it honestly frightened me to read.

Yeahh, this topic is beyond fucked, just reading through the posts. I'd make a post, but eh. Personally, I don't see why people want to resort to punishment so badly in every scenario when someone does something bad. Equestrian society has proven to be quite different (and much friendlier) than our society, and a sincere apology could go a long way over there - much longer than one can go over here.

No. Its being a magician. Most magicians are pretty cocky.

I don't think Sombra got the memo

Most magicians don't physically attack their audience

She lost EVERYTHING due to the fucking Ms.Sparkle, if anything Celestia should tell Twilight to go fuck yourself and invite Trixie to rip those wings straight off her back.

I don't think Sombra got the memo

I'd like to think there's a big difference in what Trixie and Sombra did, because A.) the Crystal Empire is larger than Ponyville B.) Sombra ruled for years and years and drove those ponies into the ground, whereas Trixie did it for like, 1 or 2 days and C.) Sombra was much more of a threat. Only reason Trixie was able to get as far as she did was because of the Alicorn amulet

So, yeahh. Quantity plays a large role in the difference between the two.

I don't think so-she made a mistake in pain and anger (since her life was in shambles, thanks to the Mane Six humiliating her for doing what stage magicians need do to live by showing off and utilizing sleights of hand onstage) and when she apologized, it was shown that she was feeling a great deal of remorse for her actions as when Twilight forgave her she let out a sigh of relief and replied "Oh, good..."

Trixie was also possessed by dark magic at the time and that would be a bit of a double-standard if she was punished after the spell was lifted, yet Luna got a pass for returning and her actions in the premiere as Nightmare Moon after having the dark magic exorcised from her through the Elements and living comfortably with her sister and returning to her duties as Princess of the Night, rather than being imprisoned for trying to take over Equestria and bringing forth eternal night again.

And in "Twilight's Kingdom"

There's also the fact that Discord wasn't officially punished by Equestrian  punished for betraying Equestria and potentially sealing the fates of everyone in the country, as his guilt, the loss of his magic, and being betrayed himself was seen as punishment enough for his actions.

She lost everything because of her own pride. Trixie was pathetic and was probably so weak, Tirek didn't even bother draining her magic
