Shadowking58 1,137 July 29, 2014 Share July 29, 2014 (edited) Well, I haven't seen any of Howard Stern's stuff, but I love making fun of myself. In fact, one of the things I love most about the brony community is the fact we are able to make fun of ourselves. Take this song by MandoPony for example. The entire thing is him making fun of himself. It's hilarious! So, yeah, I have no problem with making fun of myself, and that goes over into my bronydom. It's just nice to relax and not worry about being embarrassed. This fandom has some really great stuff. As per the topic, I remember seeing this video And I was laughing so hard at it because, all in all it's just a parody and isn't meant to be taken seriously. That's why I laughed at it the first time I saw it. Because sometimes, making fun of yourself is one of the good things you can use to stay sane. Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that although not everything is a laughing matter, we should always have a sense of humor about ourselves. Always remember to lighten up. Taking life too seriously can even alienate you from your friends sometimes. You should always be proud of who you are, but being able to laugh at yourself occasionally is one of the most useful skills you can have. Your faithful student, -- ~Justin_Case001 Uh.... wrong thread, buddy, lol. Edited July 29, 2014 by Shadowking58 All My OCS Quote “The only time a lawyer can cry is when it's all over." GXPBlast 597 July 29, 2014 Author Share July 29, 2014 (edited) I have to admit though there are some things bronies do that are just cringe worthy that you cant help but laugh sometimes. I understand the bronies in the Howard Stern interviews did not represent the majority, but it just goes to show how far people like Howard will go just to find people that fit their negative agenda. Although I have to admit, paid or not those people he interviewed were very proud and open with what they do while some were very out there. I wonder how they reacted when they found out they were publicly humiliated with possibly millions listening to the interviews. If they have been caused enough emotional harm I wonder if they have sued him. Digit 321 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 I have to say the media is always the first bully of a fandom that isnt universally excepted by a society. There is always going to be someone who makes fun but what exacerbates things is when the media like Howard stern come out and openly start attacking it. And like with all bullies one way to beat them is roll with their jokes and poke fun at yourself to show it doesnt bother you. So yeah i poke fun at all my fandoms. Whether it be the newest as a brony or one of my oldest as a cosplayer. Its healthy also i found stwrns interviews distasteful but funny because thats how he got his fame and he doesnt just attack bronies its his career to seek out the worst of anything and exploit it for laughs and lisnters. I mean he has went to everyone so far including the Big Apple Ponycon. I am starting to thing he is a closet brony because he keeps obsessing on us lol. Mae Borowski 356 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 ive always said "If you cant laugh at yourself, you may as well not laugh at all..." the world is to sensitive nowadays. if only people would learn to laugh instead of whining....(not in all cases) "What are you trying to accomplish, putting yourselves in danger like that? Trying to see "justice" done? Is that really justice, though? Aren't you just doing this because you want a little spice in your boring lives? What's the difference between that and a criminal who gets his kicks by murdering people? You see what I'm getting at? There's still a lot of time left. Give it some thought." Professor SnuSnu 100 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 I see very positive comments about making fun of ones self but is it also good to insult yourself? As in a jokingly manner of course, like for instance * In my mind " Wow,I'm actually talking to myself and replying, I'm not of sound mind"

RippedOffMattress 314 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 (edited) Totally! It gives that healthy dose of self-awareness that makes the fandom look like it doesn't take itself too seriously all the time! On this topic...I'm still waiting for an episode of South Park making fun of MLP Ehh I wouldn't hold my breath; with the fandom becoming increasingly irrelevant, I doubt that's gonna happen. Though I am kind of surprised it didn't. Maybe Trey and Matt thought it'd be too easy and obvious of a target. Edited August 1, 2014 by RippedOffMattress Formally known as Misselaineous97. DND 2,355 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 Hey, I'm a Sonic fan and I love good jokes about the series. Sometimes it's fun to laugh at what you like, because it's well... funny. As someone who playfully mocks things, I find humor in almost anything. Took the words right out of my mouth. I find it completely normal and sometimes helpful to understand your "weirder" or "more laughable" aspects of your personality/lifestyle. It shows more understanding personally. Of course there's still a comfortable limit to everything.
Due Diligence 26 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 If I acknowledge that being a Brony is just a little bit weird, people usually react more favorably. It's like they think, "He already knows that he's weird," and then it's not fun. Team 20% Cooler Power Racing Series MLP Build Thread
