What do you think about Opera music?

I saw this movie called One Chance some days ago which tells the story of Paul Potts (Opera singer), the man who won Britain's Got Talent (2007, if I'm not mistaken). Since then, I just can't stop listening to Opera music. I used to think it was funny but now I think it is beautiful, and I enjoy singing some of this genre's songs, problem is sometimes my vocal cords can't handle the notes.  :P

If you haven't seen Potts' audition on the show:

So what do you think about Opera? Do you like it? If so, which is your favorite Opera song?

I'll post Con te Partiro by Andrea Bocelli down here, have a listen if you want  :)

When I was a kid, I was cast (along with six other boys my age) to play a choir boy in the Finnish national opera.
I instantly fell in love with this beautiful artform, and I've seen many operas since.
My favorite one is Richard Wagner's "Parsifal".

Parsifal runs for four and a half hours.

Grab some pop corn or whatever and get comfortable.

I personally do not really like opera (due to my dislike of the human voice in general, something I would rather not spend time explaining) But I can appreciate it as a very artful music, coming close to classical.

Opera is awesome. They were the genre that put music, drama, and visuals together! I especially love this opera because it's so funny! La Fille du Regiment by Donizetti... I like this number a lot because it's hilarious her joy upon seeing her soldier friends after being separated from them for over a year!

It is one of my favorite styles of music actually. Since my Dad used to own an Italian restaurant I grew up by listening to that music play in the background there. It is hard for me to pick one single favorite because there are so many great ones but here are a couple of mentions.

The first is one I am sure most of you have heard at least once, it is from one of the most famous operas of all time Il Pagliacci. This song has been used in quite a few mafia movies actually.

The next one is called Miserere which is a very old school hymn, the term is Latin for "have mercy on me, oh God."

Whenever I hear an Opera song, it gives me goosebumps. So much emotions.

I always get a bit quiet when I hear a song.
But I must admit I don't know much about it, sometimes I hear it by accident.

Opera is that one genre of Classical music that has always turned me off. However, that's not to say that I never like it. There are quite a few that I listen to, actually:

For example, I like a lot of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, one of the earliest operas. Here's the most famous portion of it:

This one is also pretty (but very nostalgic for me):
