About Hearth's Warming Eve

I'm asking about the holiday Hearth's Warming Eve because I'm just curious. Considering all the decor are really just Christmas decorations, and that it takes place during winter, I was wondering how it's celebrated besides the pageants. They definitely celebrate it with plays, but do they also give gifts, or have feasts like at Christmas? I was just wondering because it was never mentioned in the actual episode. Considering Hearth's Warming Eve just looks like Christmas with a different name I was wondering if they do gifts, feasts, etc. By the way, I find it amusing that in G3 they actually celebrate Christmas.

Also remember that Christmas decorations and many of the rituals are inherited from other mid-winter festivals that were being celebrated in the same time-frame by non-Christians. Most of the ones remaining (Decorated trees, gift giving, yule logs, wassail, etc.) are Celtic or Norse in origin, but have equivalents in mid-winter festivals world-wide.

Considering all the other similarities to Christmas it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they also gave gifts and had a big meal that left them tired and eating leftovers for days, we just didn't get to see it in the episode (unless you count Pinkie Pie eating an entire gingerbread house as a feast).

I would like to think they gave out gifts and such, or have some other traditions.  But Yeah we won't know till another episode about it comes out. Or At least a comic. I certainly would like to see another Hearth's Warming Eve ep.

I think presents, parties and feasts make sense even without the comparisons to Christmas. From the story of the pageant, we know Hearth's Warming is the celebration of friendship between different types of ponies so anything that involves earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns displaying that friendship is a good way to celebrate the holiday

Oh I think they give gifts too.

It's possible that They do, but since it's not really explained in the show, I guess we'll never know.

Eh, I really hope there'll be more Hearth's Warming episodes. :wau:

Am I the only one who remembers watching the Peanuts Xmas Special?  Hearth's Warming Eve has nothing to do with any of that!  It is about ponies coming together to found a nation.  That is Thanksgiving, NOT Xmas

I seem to be the only person on Earth with this opinion.  In the words of Davy Crockett "A man who is right is a majority of 1" ;)
