Evilshy 5,090 March 26, 2012 Share March 26, 2012 No rage here, just hysterical laughter at the thought that they actually think it's a good idea and that it's enforceable XD Signature now 99% less edgy!
Sheogorath 1,155 March 26, 2012 Share March 26, 2012 This makes sense, to allow no friends, is to allow no bullies forming groups and singling others out. Now everyone can be as lonely as the fat nerd! Equal bullshit for everyone!

Colon Leftbracket 971 March 26, 2012 Share March 26, 2012 That's a silly rule... Well, I'd be unaffected by such rule because I don't have a best friend... I just have a few good friends, some acquaintances, a ton of people I don't care about (about 98% of the world's population), and then a lot of treasured online friends! None of them being a best friend! But in all seriousness that is a dumb rule! The school should not be trying to enforce themselves upon the children's social lives! 1 [New siggy in progress!]
FedoraMemes 582 March 26, 2012 Share March 26, 2012 I can see the school's point, and what they're trying to achieve, but it's a stupid idea, and won't work. Everybody makes friends, you can't stop someone from having friends. So what? Best friends break up! At the age their at, if they broke up, they would probably get back together sooner or later. And trying to prevent that pain from happening is stupid. We're all gonna experience pain at some point in our lives. What's the school gonna do if a relative dies? Their gonna have to realise that this rule is stupid, and won't work. roomforapony 285 March 26, 2012 Share March 26, 2012 That is absolutely ridiculous. Do they really think they're going to stop any of them? Or that will seriously make anything better?
RockinRarity 1,605 March 26, 2012 Share March 26, 2012 I found this article too. Is The Sun at all reliable? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4203460/Schools-ban-children-making-best-friends.html At any rate, if this is true, then it's just another consequence of living in progressive society, where every problem needs to be fixed right away, there are no consequences to our immediate actions, and everything needs to be politically correct. We live in a society that views pleasure as the ultimate goal in life and anything that's painful needs to be banned. Relatively speaking of course, as we all innately know that pain is a part of life and that banning pain can't actually be achieved. And, in the end, banning pain will actually make the pain worse. That's just plain logic. And most people are aware of that. Unfortunately, a few higher-ups who are more concerned about their own ideals than consequences to their actions tend to be the ones who make the rules. I can understand the part about not being cliquish and from playing in large groups, but children will naturally do that anyways, and that's partly what gym class is for. If best friends are being cliquish during these times, or if best friends gang up on someone, or if best friends are purposefully leaving other children out in everything they do, then action can be taken. But having a best friend is not wrong in and of itself. So why should it be banned? 2 Follow my blog! ~The Mind of Sally - Experiences, Opinions, Musings~

I mean, I understand that they try to do, by not having "best friend" maybe all kids would have a friend, HOWEVER it is NOT FOR THOSE @$$HOLES DECIDE! If I want to have a best friend, I will have him or her, no adult beuraucratic forever alone is going to change that, that is DISCRIMINATION. You know, not allowing 2 friends to hang because they are friend, that is against the law under something called "Discrimination", you self indulgent, egocentric pieces of SHIT! RDashFan85 46 March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 Wow what a stupid school that is. So making friends at this school is a crime. That makes no sense at all. Page.Turner 940 March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 To me, this brings back up the idea that children are not "people". They're taking away the RIGHTS of HUMAN BEINGS whether they are of legal age or not. Bullshit. Having a best friend teaches more than just heart ache and suffering. 2 ... Iris Melody 90 March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 At first I laughed, but then it dawned on me this might be "for real." First of all, I find it very... "not bright" to intentionally avoid pain, or to not risk something for the sole purpose of "avoiding pain." Not that I think we should all try to hurt ourselves or others, but this big thing of... avoidance... so very not bright. I personally do not believe children should be "protected" from pain. That didn't come out right. Lemme use some examples. Sparky didn't die - he "ran away." Bad. Or better yet, when a human family member dies. "That person went... elsewhere... apparently doesn't want to see you anymore or call." No! Watch out for that ...! *saves child from being physically hurt, even if it gets you hurt in the process* Not bad. Anyway, what I mean is, there is no "magic age" where we can magically deal with the not-so-pleasant aspects of reality. People need to take life as it happens to them WHEN it happens to them. Denying someone a close bond with another, at any age, is freaking horrendous. Even if it can't be successfully enforced, the idea that it is a rule in the first place... that alone makes it detrimental. Sure, I have a best friend, but I'm not supposed to. I'm breaking a rule. Imagine how guilty that may make me feel, or how that makes me view real, valid rules. Oh, this rule is in place to protect me from emotional pain? Gosh, now my perception of pain has been altered in a bad way. This next thing is a quote I took from a comments section on one of those links. "A child without a best friend is a child who lacks a confidant. These are the easiest children to control and abuse because they do not have a relationship which holds deep trust, and therefore are unlikely to tell anyone who might convince them to report it to the authorities. - Giiodii" TRUE THAT. What about the whole It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. I can understand encouraging large group play, but to "criminalize" an intimate connection between two individuals... that's just... just... wrong. Very wrong. "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Dear Albert Einstein. 2 Pinkie Pie is my favoritest of the mane six for several reasons, but most importantly because she always has a good attitude. The others can doubt her, say somewhat unkind things, not believe her, and she just rolls with it. I also love her because her self-defined purpose in life is to make others happy. I believe her balloons cutie mark actually represents her uplifting others. Her amazing dimension bending and psychic powers are a factor, too When poor Pinkie Pie looses her mind, well, it is quite humorous. She has her own depression demons to fight, yet focuses on others. The world will be a better place when she succeeds in breaking that 4th wall! >

Shankveld 4,949 March 29, 2012 Share March 29, 2012 If you don't learn how to deal with loss when you're young it will hit you a lot harder as a teenager or adult, which could lead to suicide/depression/anxiety and the likes. Learning to cope with loss/failed friendships and failed relationships are just as important as learning how to read and write. ~
