Biggest Fashion Crimes?

Midnight Gaze

-Snapbacks. Just no. I literally only associate them with douchebag swaggots.

-galaxy leggings. Why. Just why. So ugly.

-corsets. I'm only saying this because the only times I've ever seen some girl wearing it has been in a way that most definitely doesn't flatter their body type. Now, I'm not saying you have to be thin to be pretty because you don't. But for the grace of god please wear clothes that flatter your body shape. You don't see me running around in pants that totally show off my butt, why? Because I'm a lanky white girl. I ain't got no assets if you catch my drift.

-crocs. So uuuuugly.

-Mixing two completely different styles. I know this girl who took pictures with her family. It was awful. She was wearing a really cute sundress, really cute boots and then ruined it. All because she had like a buttload of those thick rubber wristbands from hottopic. Just no. One or the other. Dress like a country girl, or dress in hottopic. You can't have both. That just bothers me.

-the biggest fashion crime? Not being yourself. I hate when people dress a certain way to fit in. I see people dressing in skinny jeans, band t-shirts and converse one second, come to school the next day wearing bootcut jeans and cowboy boots just to fit in with their new group of friends. Just no. Stop. Stop trying to fit in. Just do you and be proud.

I know it's all a matter of taste, but my personal peeves are:

People who wear (or let their kids wear) bright, neon leggings as trousers! Are they even the slightest bit aware that you can see not only the imprint of their underwear but the PATTERN on them too?!

Little girls' shirts that only hang off of one shoulder. (I wasn't allowed to wear those until I was eighteen!)

Not wearing a bra with an outfit that clearly requires one, White shirt + Black bra or wearing the wrong bra for your outfit.

Booty shorts of any kind, but especially the ones with sayings on them.

Really? I love one shoulder shirts. They're awesome.

They are. On anyone fifteen or older. I was talking about little (like 4-8 year-old) girls wearing them, which I believe is inappropriate. Because, frankly, I think those shirts just aren't meant for people who don't have the breasts and/or shoulders to hold them up.

The other day at work, I saw a little girl wearing one in passing and you could see part of her chest. (As in, her nipple was showing)

dreadlocks.

Really? If well maintained, I find dreadlocks to be incredibly attractive. In fact, I would get them if I knew I wouldn't look like a dumbass.

For example, Cosima (a character in Orphan Black) totally pulls them off~

any and all girly clothes......did I mention any and all popular women's fashion?

Are you one of those girls who thinks it's cool to not like things that are defined as feminine? I don't understand that point of view. I think stuff like sundresses are fun and cute, but I am equally happy wearing normal khakis and tee shirts. It's fine to have a bit of a sense of "style" and still maintain a practical and professional wardrobe.

Anyways, I don't care what people do. I think self-expression through clothing is important as long as you are careful not to be offensive or inappropriate (makeup on toddlers, par example). However, I am not very fond of any clothing that is dirty (please take the time to properly care for your things) or purple lipstick. In fact, I think excessive makeup in general can be a major turn-off. It looks sloppy to me. I also think that parents of young children should be aware that there are things that aren't appropriate for them to be wearing at such a young age and respect that boundary. That isn't even social norms, it's just that there are a lot of sickos out there and you want to teach your child to be a respectable person and understand what is and is not acceptable for their age group.

I like when boys have dreads, but I don't like low-riding clothes. They seem uncomfortable and look a bit silly.

Being a Fashion Designer and studying the history of Fashion and trends..I honestly think the biggest fashion crime is not being yourself. I see to many times people all dressing a like and it seems especially in the last 10 years and today people just seem to wear the same thing over and over again. If you like it that is bravo! but I hear darling people tell me all the time oh I'm envious of how you can pull all dresses(I only wear dresse or skirts) Or pastels..I wish I could..I just tell them to try don't care about what anyone thinks! That is the beauty of fashion it is you're own ideal! and I think many people have lost that...

Also brands like Holiester, Ambercomibe, Gucci, Coach are just so boring. plastering their logo on everything

I'm a skirt girl (though I also wear plenty of pants), and I've seen this so much.

"Oh, I'm not a girly girl, I don't wear dresses or anything"

I'm in a high school with around 1,700 teens, and there's only a single other girl who I've seen wearing a skirt. There are far more than two girly girls at that school, I guarantee you.

The fact that I wear skirts makes me stand out. I'm confident in my fashion sense, and in a sentiment that would make Rarity proud, my fashion sense gives me confidence. Give me a skirt just a few inches above my knees and a pair of high boots, and I feel like the most glamorous girl around.  -_-

----------------------------

Back on topic, the biggest fashion crime to me is dressing just to throw clothes on yourself. You can dress very simply, and if it fits well and looks intentional, you'll look great. Your outfit is your work of art. Why not throw a little passion into it?

any and all girly clothes......

Woooooow. That would eliminate my entire wardrobe. I can't possibly understand how anyone can just lump all "girly" clothes into the category of "fashion crime." What's the problem with girly clothes? Do you just cringe every time you see a skirt or something....? Do pretty dress, bows, floral patterns, lace, or bright colors assault your eyes that badly? But....why? ....How? Like, I just... don't.... get it.....

The fact that I wear skirts makes me stand out. I'm confident in my fashion sense, and in a sentiment that would make Rarity proud, my fashion sense gives me confidence.

Yesssssss. I am the same. Skirts make my soul shine!

People always condescendingly ask me, "Why do you wear so many dresses ?" And I'm just like "BECAUSE I LIKE THEMMMMMMM!!! Why do I need to give any other reasoning?"

I think the only fashion crime is judging people on what they like to wear. I really couldn't give any fucks if I tried. Wear what makes your heart happy.

I guess it would be not being yourself and bright colors that clash like yellow sweat pants and purple sweaters..

;-; meh I've recently started opening up to "girly" clothing again as I try to bring up my self esteem. I haven't tried skirts but I like dresses though even knee length makes me feel strange with all that.. Space xD

this is where the fashionista in me comes out but:

  • fedoras
  • trilbys
  • pork pies (the hat, not the food)
  • socks and sandals
  • Crocs
  • unnaturally dyed hair. Be it full colour, highlights, or dips
  • Hawaiian shirts
  • clashing colours
  • track suits
  • track pants
  • track anything
  • flat-peak caps (many would disagree, but oh well)
  • trousers pulled above the waist
  • trousers pulled far below the waist

and I've probably missed out a bunch more

Well then, their fashion tastes just really irk my nerves.

I mean they can go ahead and wear galaxy leggings and a pair of crocs but they're not gonna get some compliment on their outfits from me.

...Crocs with socks. Is there anything worse?

Crocs at all are a crime against humanity. not just fashion. And I live in the southeast USA, so that means everyone wears them   >_>

In our fandom, the fedora. I can't stand it :D What's wrong with a dope-ass bucket hat instead?

I know it's unrelated to the fandom but...

There ain't nothing wrong with a fedora if you do it right.
