Best and Worst Convention Experiences?

I've never really been to a convention (MLP or otherwise) except for a local library mini-con that I went to twice.

I probably couldn't go to a convention anytime soon due to the expense, but I am wondering what the best and worst conventions are (MLP or otherwise).

I was in Otakon in Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland for a few years. The first time I was there, I waited in line for pre-reg to get my ID card or whatever it was for three and a half hours. The line wrapped around the building twice. Twice!

The year after that, our group waited until the last minute to get in line, and we only had to wait ten minutes. I was so confused.

Well, just like last year, I didn't have the money to make it to BronyCan and that was the only convention I've had an interest in going to. So my answer actually is no convention. I'm not on speaking terms with the Vancouver brony club and was asked to leave last time I was there a year ago so probably for the better anyway. Nothing worse then having judgemental eyes on you. Even heard that one of them told bronycan staff last year that if they saw me to kick me out... Yet, I didn't even DO anything to the club nor the convention. I'm just... older then everybody there... and that is alot tougher then people think.

I'm guessing they were better organized that year?

This most recent Sand Diego Comic Con, the changed the way the line works for the main hall (The hall where all the most important stuff happens). Previously, you had the most die hard fans camp out overnight, but you could get in if you got in line reasonably early. The added a wrist band system to the line that basically forced everybody who wanted to get in to camp out overnight. I got in line at 9 PM to go into the hall the next morning, and I barely got in. Tons of people who camped overnight never made it. It was super dumb.

I was at Brony-Con this year and some guy proceeded to bring up sexual topics to my friend and I. It was so weird... It was my friends first con and I felt really bad something like that happened her first time.

He was clearly an adult and we were clearly underage. He also knew our age yet still continued talking about it. It doesn't matter how uncomfortable you look or what you say to them, creepers will say whatever they want.

Though regardless of age it was inappropriate and we spent the rest of that day worried we would run into him again. Don't put up with weirdos at cons, you guys. It ain't cool.

You didn't contact police or security?

You might be able to meet someone on this site. I think they have groups for particular conventions.

I know that I should have but it honestly was not my first thought. My honest first though was this is potentially dangerous and we need to leave. Now. I'm just paranoid and anxious that way. Which we did, I pretended that my friends mother texted me saying she had arrived and we needed to go to the front to see her,

There were tons of other people right near us as well. Next time I'll be sure to find a staff member. It all happened pretty fast and was shocking to me as I'd never encountered a weirdo at a con before.

Don't be like me you guys and just run away. Tell the authorities about the creep and get their stupid self thrown out,

So I went to my first con this year (BronyCon 2014) and I have to say my favorite experience was waiting in line to get into "Whooves Line is it Anyway?" The line wrapped all the way around the actual event hall and I was in the very back with a few others who didn't get there early... So as more people started to fill in behind me I hear a conversation going on about backstage passes. I turn around, and there's 3 of the staff members that organize the Everfree NW convention (1 of which was an event organizer for BronyCon) having a sort of "storytime." As one of them notices me, he says something to the rest of them and they dragged me into their circle and started bombarding me with stories of their past conventions and events. That moment really stood out because it was the first time I really felt welcome. I came to the convention alone and most people just kinda kept to themselves and it was rather awkward starting a conversation, so when 3 staff members (with backstage passes, mind you) stood at the back of the line to talk to me, I really felt at home.

The only convention I've attended is London MCM or as it's know now London comic con :)

A good experience was was seeing Vic Mignogna (the voice actor of Edward from FMA brotherhood) at a panel, he was so charming and entertaining to listen to. Another one was finding a Honey and Clover art book hidden in a big box of mangas and comics, it was quite a rare find so I brought it in an instance. It's always exciting when you find something you really love at a convention.

A bad experience was probably having some random man hug me from behind and yell "Free hugs!!" :okiedokielokie:  the crowds can also get pretty horrible and the food is waaaaay over priced. Pick up your lunch and drinks from a local supermarket before you go.

Dude!  Same here.  I decided spur of the moment that I was going to BronyCon 2015, but since I'm a super closet Brony with no other Brony friends I'll be flying solo.  I'm hoping I can make friends with someone online who's going so we could meet up or something.

Best convention experience? I'd have to say when I went to BC this year, where all my flight there got there an hour early, and registration took only a minute with no line.

Worst one? San Diego CC. The line this year was terrible, getting a badge was not much easier (it wasn't), and you'll probably spend 6 hours in line for 2 panels. It's kinda sad, really.
