An idea for a Fanfic

What do you get when you combine a day of sleeping with a bunch of medication in an attempt to cure sore throat?

Dreams, and a lot of weird ones.

However, I remember this one dream I had, and I think it'll make a decent fanfic.

 

The plot would be that changelings (or some form of evil) is slowly taking over Equestria from the South, and ponies must flee to Canterlot. However, there is only one way to get there. By train. The plot will follow the protagonist as they go through the troubles of taking the train from Manehatten to Canterlot. Some of the hazards will include changeling attacks, flooded zones, other Ponies attempting to take charge of the train, and the train breaking down for various reasons. Let me know if you'd like to see this happen, and if you are interested, I'd love to have some Proofreaders and Editors. Lemme know in the forum comments.

It's a great idea, but the hazards sound a bit vanilla. You might want to think of more out-there scenarios, like

a pitched battle between a massive dragon and an army of changelings occurring dangerously close to the tracks.

Or maybe

Discord shows up and turns the tracks into breadsticks, threatening a derail.

Or maybe even

a perilous junction comes up, and the train's controls have suddenly vanished without a trace.

When I say "hazards", I mean very real world things that happen. Fuel running out. Engine overheating. Parts not working. The ideas you have are external things happening to the train. I do really like one of the ideas though....

It's the magical world of Equestria. A big part of the fun comes from the fantastical, not so much the realistic.

This seems like a good Idea but here is some advise:

 

I believe that you should go out the box if you do this fanfic. If you aren't having fun while writing it, then no one will have fun while reading it. So go outside the box and create something that's going to make people come back.

 I love all of you guys putting input!@@Mand'alor Dash, the only thing I am hesitant about is the Discord ideas. My idea for this fic is this gritty, suspenseful thriller. Discord is a very comedic character. It would be out of Discord's character to deliberately harm a large group of ponies, especially since his rehabilitation with Fluttershy. Maybe I am just too short-sighted to see what you guys mean though. If you think I am wrong with this way of thinking, correct me!

I think it is a great idea. I like writing fanfiction.

A suspenseful thriller? Now that I would love to see.

 

The idea is a little stretched by modern media, but its a workable idea.

The important part is drawing out the characters. I would say that it is the most important part of such a story. Working out the chemistry between the ponies is vital, and the incidents are to pitch them against one another. 

 

And just like everyone else, this is Equestria. The ridiculous is possible. Dont let it detract from the core but its possible to do something real weird. I mean, like the trains were stopped because of sheep in Season 5 so anything is possible. 

It sure is a setting for a riveting story though, I like it a lot.
