Plonkett 345 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I felt it would be an interesting idea that after FiM ends, there could be another show after it to expanded the G4 lore that would have the same setting, but having different characters. We could see more exciting stories, more interesting characters, new locations in Equestria to visit (or places outside of Equestria), new races and creatures to see, new awesome villains, the list goes on. There could also be a new mane 6, each one having their own personalities different from the G4 mane 6.
Phoenix Flair 332 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 (edited) I dunno, man. It would just feel too copycat. Like when Rick Riordan finished Percy Jackson and then turned right around and made a series about the Roman gods. I think if they end the Mane 6 story they should just wipe the slate and try a whole new perspective. ponylaces 1,870 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I just want FiM to go on forever! I just hate changes. If a G4.5 or G5 comes out, I know I'll hate it at first, but I would have to get used to the change. I can't see my favorite characters go away forever 2 hello
MasterCombine 316 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 Why not G4 forever? Don't really see how they could top it if/when they decide to move on.
Rainboom Dash 1,056 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 If we ever get a G4.5, I'm all up for a series continuation as well. G4 is incredibly successful so I doubt that'll die for a while though.

Pastel 7,630 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I support G4 forever too. But if I had to choose I'd say G4.5 because maybe it would be as interesting as FiM.
The Crimson Cross 7,532 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 It'd be nice if we got a spin-off with familiar characters and familiar worlds and such. I think it'd be nice for both old and new audiences to MLP. 1 Now with more added tea leaves! Aerial~Shot 177 August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 It could be good if they can do it right. I think some kind of spinoff could work for G4.5, like maybe one centred around the CMC or something?
Darker 1,351 August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 There aren't many secondary characters enough interesting to make spin-offs. Also, would be G4.5 to G4 the same things G3.5 was to G3? Baby versions? I don't think Hasbro could make the same mistake again... Screwballer 7 September 7, 2014 Share September 7, 2014 Id much rather have a G4.5 than a G5. But thats just me.
Scootaloodle 1,623 September 7, 2014 Share September 7, 2014 (edited) Well it depends on the state of the show once it gets to that point If the show is just flat out done, I’d rather have a G5, but if the G4 as it is is needs a refresh but still has some new ways to go then I’d want a G4.5. EDIT Don't we already have a G4.5 in the form of Equastia Girls? it's the same franchise and it's a spin off/sequel to G4 Edited September 7, 2014 by Scootaloodle
Banul 3,831 September 7, 2014 Share September 7, 2014 I think it would be interesting for the CMC to grow up and have g4.5 be about them. The mane 6 can make cameo appearances and such.
Fawkes The Phoenix 737 September 7, 2014 Share September 7, 2014 G4 can't last forever, and i think the show needs to end in season 5 or 6, a G 4.5 would be cool, but i'd rather a G5 Equestria's best unicorns
chirox the pony 1,336 September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 I'd have to go with a G5, I feel that if a G4.5 was created then it could ruin FIM so I'd rather have an all new show instead. No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.
AlbaTross 1,586 September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 I'm almost to the end of G1 MLP, but I don't know anything about these .5 gens yet. I'm assuming it's referring to a second tv/ova series that is made before the transition to a new gen, and/or stars characters from the previous gen, such as the infamous Pony Tales(which I'll be seeing for myself soon enough). I'm currently on a journey through the past gens of MLP, but even though I don't think G1 is that bad, I've been told the journey gets more perilous from there. Still, you could probably fill volumes with what I don't know about MLP as a franchise, including this topic. Based on observations, the secondary series have generally not been as good as the first series for that gen, which is something, because I hear nothing but horror stories about G3, unless that Minty character is brought up. Given the track record, simple extrapolation would tell us that a G4.5 series wouldn't be as good, though I don't think we have enough data to establish a pattern. G2 didn't have a series, and we only have two secondary series to go by, whereas I prefer a chain of 3 be established before declaring a pattern like how every other Windows OS is terrible. Moreover, G4 is an anomaly in itself. Based on grapevine-esque observation, the pattern before G4 was an apparent steady decline after the original show. G4 has turned that around and has actually surpassed G1 in terms of reception and popularity, and not just by a small margin. I would imagine given the fact that MLP prints money now thanks to FiM, that any future series will build on it as opposed to previous gens, regardless of whether it ties into a new gen or not. So, the short answer for me is, I have no preference. I won't presume to say that Hasbro will be able to replicate the unbelievable success of FiM, since that's something that defied all odds, but I'm sure they won't look to unpopular gens as a source of inspiration if they want the MLP brand to stay in the black. Even if they can't match the success of FiM, I'm sure whatever they come up with will have at least some kind of cult following.
Everleaf 541 September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 Well I would go for a 4.5 before a G5, G4 has been so popular though the years and dropping it so quickly would be a shame and as so all the other generations had a (side show) or a .5 as G1 had MLPT (which is actually not G2, G2 was a generation alone without a show and the only one without a sideshow as it has no show and G3 and...3.5/ponyville but as now we got FIM as it is best to follow as it had before and have a 4.5 which myself I would find very interesting... Conred 274 September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 I would love for them to have a time skip. Either to the point where CMC are grown up or even few generations into the future. With only Discord and Alicorns (also Twilight) being alive from the the old cast. They would only serve as secondary characters since it would feature entire new group of friends. The Coffee Pony 1,390 September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 (edited) I also have the firm belief that G4 can't last forever and should end at a high note rather than overstay its welcome like Spongebob or the Simpsons has. As for a G4.5 or G5, either one of them would be welcome if they can retain the quality of FiM or be better. I don't really have a preference on the matter as long as they're good in quality. Keep in mind that just because they move on from FiM to G5 that doesn't automatically mean it's a bad thing. It's good for a show to evolve and try something new. It works well for the Transformers franchise. There will always be the possibility that future generations of My Little Pony will be better than Friendship is Magic. After all, I used to think that would never be another Transformers Series that would be better than Beast Wars and then Transformers Prime came along and proved me wrong.
