Why or how did Vinyl get her cutie mark in Neigh Anything?

In one of the chapters of the shining and cadance arc Neigh Anything, we see Vinyl Scratch as a young filly sitting atop her brother's back watching Shining Armor and his friends put on a concert in one of Shining Armor's many, nearly successful, attempts to woo Cadance and win her over. in that same scene we also see a flash on young Vinyl's flank as she receives her cutie mark. but why? She wasn't performing in the concert or involved in any way. She was just...observing.

To get your cutie mark you have to "realize your special talent". It's understandable that most fillies would get theirs while participating in something, however this is not required.
