Something has bothered me lately about the Season 4 Finale: Twilight's Kingdom.  Tirek came much closer to dominating Equestria than Queen Chrysalis, Discord, or even Sunset Shimmer came close to.  Three particular characters may have played a hand in aiding Tirek more than they thought.

1) Discord: Obviously because he turned his back on Equestria and sided with Tirek, allowing the Magic-eating Centaur to absorb the essence of the Unicorns, Pegasi and even Earth Ponies.  He even helped Tirek drain 5 of the Mane 6 of their magic before being betrayed by Tirek and losing his Chaos Magic

2) Twilight Sparkle: Twilight Sparkle was entrusted by her fellow princesses to safe guard their Alicorn Magic, but not to tell her friends about it, for fear they will be placed in danger.  In addition, Twilight was aware of Discord's betrayal.  However, not only did she keep her new powers a secret, she didn't even bother telling her friends that Discord betrayed Equestria, putting them in grave danger anyway.  She had to surrender all the Alicorn Magic to save her friends and give Tirek enough power.

3) Princess Celestia: Two big mistakes were made.  She first entrusted Discord to capture Tirek.  But it seems she placed too much trust in Discord, resulting in his betrayal.  So she, Princess Luna, and Princess Cadence entrusted Twilight with their Alicorn magic, but asked her to keep it a secret.  Because there was a stain glass window of Twilight as a Princess, plus to the fact that Twilight kept all 4 alicorn powers and Discord's betrayal a secret, she may have done worse than entrusting Discord.

What do you think?  Who do you think put Equestria in bigger danger?

I would say Discord because he betrayed and as we saw in the end he was abandoned by Tirek and I think that was the message that the show was trying to send aswell. I mean betrayal isn't a good thing or anything.

Not Twilight or Celestia because they atleast tried. They maybe tried based on their own mindsets rather than focusing on the whole picture but you can't blame them for doing that. They did things in their own way and I don't think that can be seen as fault.

Discord was as dumb as usual. Letting G1's Satan rule Equestria was the worst plan he ever had. Though, an evil friendship was the one thing I needed to see in MLP. It's hard to find moments between two villains, and both have a very fun relationship.

Celestia gave the most idiotic plan at letting Twi have her and the other alicorn's magic. I don't even know what was the point of it if they didn't remove the one glass with her. Also, Discord knew about Twi, and he's dumb but not stupid enough to not tell his pal about other big threats.

I didn't see Twi doing anything stupid. Fighting Tirek for no reason, maybe.

It was a close one between Discord willfully and maliciously turning against Equestria only to get himself screwed in the end, and Celestia's poor planning which was based mainly on a gamble.

I'd have to say Discord because his influence was more direct. He had the chance to stop Tirek in his tracks, but he fell to impulse and easy manipulation and nearly ended up letting Tirek win at his expense. In that case, he could have ended up shouldering most of the blame for letting Equestria fall by putting his own enjoyment above the needs of the country. In the end, he learned that crime doesn't pay.

Celestia's poor planning, in one sense, allowed this to happen, but it was really Discord's weakness of will and morals that allowed the events to take place in a more direct sense. Nearly all of Celestia's plans were complete gambles that weren't executed well and could have been disasterous failures.

i'd say discord more than any one else because he's the one that betrayed his friends, the lesson there was that you shouldn't betray your friends cause well their your friends and you may lose them. celestia however was dumb in leaving a bunch of pictures around the castle of twilight sparkle (all those stainglass windows really needed to be there after all) but celestia probably didn't even realize at the time that they were there again its mainly discord that did the betraying here

though i'm still gonna love discord cause he's best villain

I mentioned my answer before in the Keys and Rainbow Items topic, but allow me to state my opinion on the matter again.

1. Discord is my final answer. He betrayed the ponies, especially Fluttershy, because Tirek made him genuiely believe that if he helped Tirek, Discord would have the freedom to do what he wants and have a friend in Tirek. But he was sooooo wrong. Eventually, even he lost his magic to a double-crossing Tirek.

As he would say later, "I had Magic and Friendship and now I don't have either" That was his bad karma biting him in the butt.

2. As was pointed out, all the "Key Episodes" had one of the mane 6 make a terrible choice, and I said before that Twilight's bad choice was NOT telling her friends about the situation. As a result, her friends and their magics were captured! Also because of Tirek, The Golden Oaks Library that has been Twilight's home in Ponyville was destroyed! Those were the consequences!

3. Celestia may have been around for over 1000 years and is perceptive, but even she can be fallible. Putting too much trust in Discord and telling Twilight to leave her friends in the dark about the situation were gambles she had lost. As a penalty, she, Luna, and Cadance were banished to Tartarus!

So yes, all three of them led Equestria into Tirek's iron grip, but when all was said and done, Equestria was saved, Discord completes his heel-face turn, and Twilight got a new place!

Don't worry about the library There will be an episode that will have Twilight deal the loss of it in season 5!

even though Queen Chrysalis is my favorite villain I would have to say Discord had put Equestria in the greatest danger he almost broke up the Mane Six if he were to succeed he would of taken over everything as for Tirek he had Discord's help if not for Discord then Tirek wouldn't have gotten that far that fast

Discord because he betrayed everybody. Celestia was desperate, she made mistakes, and Twilight never really wanted to prove herself as a princess. And she didn't tell her friends about the situation because if they got captured/interrogated they would spill. The less who knew, the better.

@@Snowflake Frostflame,

We're not talking about the other episodes, only Princess Twilight Sparkle Pt. 1+2.

Discord. As much as I love the guy, trusting the guy with the satanic glowing eyes and demonic horns was not his proudest moment.

Any problem that you may experience on this site can be solved immediately if you simply throw Fluttershy into a wood chipper.   You can trust me on this, because I'm an administrator. Would I lie?

Without Celestia's poor planning, Discord wouldn't even be a factor in all this. She placed too much faith in a still bitter Draconiquis. The plan afterwords was just as dumb if not more so: give all their magic to Twilight and do... what? Hide? For how long? Build up a resistance? With whom? Certainly not the depowered denizens of Equestria. Find another Deus Ex machina weapon? While it did happen, it is still very presumptuous and quite the gamble. We don't even know if Celestia was kept up to date on the progress of the key box, so we're not even sure if she was just falling back on that.

What does having her keep it a secret from her friends and fellow element bearers do, other than cause them to wander into a dangerous situation because of their lack of information, rather than be with Twi to help formulate a plan and be kept safe. If the princesses had their power when Triek came bursting into the throne room, they would've had more than enough power to stop him or at least equal him in might. All Equestrian magic + remane 5 + Discord = 4 alicorn princesses. The 3 of them could've held their own against Tirek, or even overpowered him if Twi had been deemed worthy of being by their side.

Celestia let her pacifistic nature and her fears get the better of her judgement. It also seems as though she didn't get the jist of any of Twi's friendship letters, that running from your problems doesn't solve them, that it's alright to rely on your friends as much as they rely on you, be honest with them when there's a problem, etc. Having faith that your own faithful student/ fellow princess  can solve another problem, as well as standing beside her and helping her and her friends as much as they've helped you, should've been something that came to mind.
