So... I finished an anime and I'm having a hard time trying to find a new one. At the moment I prefer Lighthearted ones, Like a Slice of Life sorta thing. Any one know any good ones? (Please name multiple, I may have already seen it like I've seen Ouran)

Leseee... going from memory.... Last one I saw was Squid Girl (Shinryaku! Ika Musume).

Petite Princess Yucie (Puchi Puri Yūshī) is also lighthearted, for the most part.

If you adore cute stuffs, there's Ground Defense Force Mao-Chan (Rikujō Bōeitai Mao-chan).

Hmm.. there are a bunch of other lighthearted slice of life animes I'd like to recommend, but...

I'll check my collection when I get home for work. ;)

I prefer light hearted anime too. Typically ones with cute characters.

As for anime shows the ones that come to mind are Bobobo-bo bo-bobo(Try saying that three times fast), Lucky Star, Doraemon, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, and Hamtaro.

As for anime movies I'd recommend pretty much any of the Studio Ghibli films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Ponyo.

The absolute ultimate slice-of-life (and one of the best anime in general) is Azumanga Daioh. One of the funniest and cutest things I have ever had the pleasure to watch (and read the manga too). School Rumble can be a bit out there but is so much fun and one of my other all time favourite comedy anime. Ouran High School Host Club is great too, not exactly slice-of-life, but a nice light hearted comedy with a bit of romance. Lucky Star is quite good, but it's choc full of otaku references/jokes at times so some of it might fly over people's heads, but the rest of it is funny enough regardless. K-ON! is very funny, charming and super sweet. Some other light hearted stuff:

Baka and Test

Bamboo Blade

Arakawa Under The Bridge

Maria Holic

The World God Only Knows

Gintama

I haven't been able to get at my collection yet, (It's a long story and I dun wanna derail this thread) but I remembered some more Slice of life Anime Series:

Nanaka 6/17 (Nanaka Juu-nanabun no Roku)

The Adventures of Mini-Goddess (Aa Megami-sama: Chicchai tte Koto wa Benri da ne)

There's also a Slice of Life Anime Movie called The Girl who Leapt Through Time (Toki o Kakeru Shōjo).

I've also seen most of Pokemon, as well as Hamtaro, and most of the Ghibli films, and they're pretty good. ;)

Here's a list of the Ghibli films I've seen and liked:

Castle in the Sky

My Neighbor Totoro

Kiki's Delivery Service (a personal favorite ^_^ )

Only Yesterday

Porco Rosso

Whisper of the Heart

Spirited Away

The Cat Returns

Howl's Moving Castle

Arrietty

You can get more info about those Ghibli films from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_Ghibli#Films

Azumanga Daioh and School Rumble have some PG-13 stuffs, but other than that, they're pretty darn funny. :)

If you liked Mao-Chan, you should also check out Bottle Fairy (Binzume Yousei ~Bottle Fairy~).

http://youtu.be/B1ndPFEPbsw

If you liked Cardcaptor Sakura (Japanese), or Cardcaptors (English), you could also check out

Angelic Layer (Kidō Tenshi Angelic Layer).

By the way, the links I gave for each show,  that go to the Anime News Network, should have a button near the top called "Watch Preview". This also goes for the other posts I made in this thread. ~_^

Oh, and all of my recommendations has an English dub available, but you can also watch them in Japanese w/english subtitles, if you prefer.

Just remembered another one!

Piano: The Melody of a Young Girl's Heart

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1833

I haven't watched it in about a decade, but from what I recall, its a nice slice of life series.

EDIT: Just asked my bro about it, and he says that it does contain some lols, but is more of a drama. I need to rewatch it sometime. :derp:

Honey and Clover is a really cute slice of life anime. :3 It's about students going to an art college. It's funny at times, serious at others, and completely amazing.

Working! - about a guy who gets hired at a family diner, and works with a bunch of weirdos

Nichichou (Everyday) - slapstick, slice of life, comedy about high school

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Everyday Lives of Highschool Boys) Similar to nichijou, a little less  slapsticky, but still a nice comedy

err... Can't really name on the top of my head, but you can try those for now.

The good news is that I was able to get access to most of my library, and make a long list of cool lighthearted, and slice of life, Animes for yall.

The bad news is that no one has posted anything since my last post, so this'll prolly show up as an edit, and be merged onto my previous post from October 7'th.... I'm not sure if the New Post/New Content flag activates or not, when that happens...

Anywho, today's recommendation is for Magical Meow Meow Taruto.
Taruto is a little cat who has just moved to a new city with her master's family.
Taruto spends her days making friends and exploring her new home town.

Here's Episode 1 (of 12)
http://youtu.be/NyWnEroYGog

Here's a fan-made AMV:

If you can get a hold of the DVDs for this show (doesn't mater if it's singles, or the whole season box set) they come with some cool bonus features, such as the japanese voice cast, dressed up as the characters they voice, singing some songs. It's super cute. =^+^=
And they're available on the English dubbed DVDs.

I just recently finished a pretty comedic anime called "The Devil is a Part-Timer!" in which the Devil takes on the job of an employee at a fast-food restraunt. It's not dark really except for one or two scenes, and the comedy is really funny. I'd reccomend that one. It's on Netflix.

Hamtaro is great, if you like hamsters.

Lovely Complex is pretty cute.  It's about a really short guy and a really tall girl who are competing to see who gets in a relationship first, but they're totally crushing on each other, but they're childish and like "ew, you're icky" kinda thing.

Some lighthearted ones that are enjoyable to watch

  • Welcome to the NHK

That is anything but light hearted   Did we watch the same show? Yeah, it's got comedy, but it's also super dark and depressing. Great show, but I'm just saying.

  • 2 weeks later...

K-On! definitely gets my recommendation. Even though it's not the deepest or most emotional anime ever, it's still very endearing and memorable. This is especially if you're into the "moe" genre.
