Rising gulps again.

"Sorry, if I'm a weak, scared pony, who can't do nothing in his life, without failing or getting scared by something. No wonder, she would never had to do something with me. I'm not good enough for Rainbow Dash ... buck."

He accidentally said her name in frustration ...

@,

Riley turned to look at Rising. "Rainbow Dash?" he restated. "Your mystery crush is Rainbow Dash?"

"Don't worry, it makes perfect sense," said Riley with a warm smile. "She has a great personality somewhat like Anala's, she's an expert flyer, she has plenty of interesting stories to tell, and she could protect you in places like this."

Rising feels like, he is going to explode, his blush increasing heat, hot as the sun.

"I-I-I-I ..."

Rising looks away, still blushing hard.

"Y-Yes, s-she is m-my c-crush I h-have ..."

He feels so awkward right now, he would prefer to run into the Everfree, then staying with him right now, but the fear is bigger.

@,

Riley slowly walked over to Rising and wrapped a comforting wing around him. "Look, it's okay," he said. "I won't tell her, okay? It's perfectly fine to have a crush. And I'm sure Rainbow Dash would like a stallion such as yourself," he said, ruffling Rising's mane. "You're kind, you have a great imagination..."

"R-R-Really? You wont tell? You f-find, she would l-like me t-too?"

Rising smiles a little, feeling more comfortable now with him here.

"T-Thanks Riley. Thank you a lot for stay with me. Without you, I would already sit in my home again."

Rising pulls one of his wing around him.

"Youre very welcome, Rising," said Riley, patting his Pegasus friend on the back. "Now we can't leave this fire unattended."

He sat down next to the fire. "So... do you happen to know any campfire songs?" he asked. "I know quite a few. I picked them up from my school camping trip when I was a colt."

"I never really was camping, so unfortunalty no, I don't know any of them."

He sit by the fire, enjoying the warmth from it. He slowly feels more and more comfortable, especially thanks to Riley, who is all the time with him. Without him, he would already run or fly away.

@,

"It's okay, I've picked up a few," said Riley, handing Rising a sharp stick and a small bag of marshmallows. "Here's a personal favourite. I'll teach it to you in small chunks."

He cleared his throat and began to sing.

"This land is your land, this land is my land,

From Califoalnia to the Neigh York island,
From the red wood forest to the Hoof Stream waters,
This land was made for you and me."

He spoke normally. "Like it? And can you repeat it back to me?"

"I need sometime to remember a song, but I try."

He takes the stick, and put a marshmallow on it, holding it on the fire.

"This land is your land, this land is my land,

From Califoalnia to the Neigh York island,
From the red wood forest to the Hoof Stream waters
This land was made for you and me."

@,

"Well done!" said Riley, clapping his hooves. "Well, if you're satisfied you remember the chorus, let's move onto the next part."

"As I was walking that ribbon of highway,

I saw above me that endless skyway,
I saw below me that golden valley,
This land was made for you and me."

"Alright."

He goes trough it again and again in his mind, re4peating the rhymes in his head, before he open his muzzle.

"As I was walking that ribbon of highway,
I saw above me that endless skyway,
I saw below me that golden valley,
This land was made for you and me."

@,

"You're a fast learner," commented Riley. "Now, I think this next part will be the last part we learn before we take a break. Don't want your mind getting exhausted, right?"

"I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps,

To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts,
And all around me a voice was sounding,
This land was made for you and me."

"Depends. Sometimes I remember something on first try, sometimes I can't remember it after days."

He goes trough it and says it loud then.

"I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps,

To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts,
And all around me a voice was sounding,
This land was made for you and me."

"Well done!" said Riley. "So, it seems I've done my job in helping you with your fear of the Everfree Forest," he said. "Does this mean you want to come again tomorrow?" he asked. "If not, we'll just stay at home and start writing up our story with all those ideas we have now."

"Hrmmmm ... I'm not sure yet. I have to think about it first. For now I prefer home tough."

He sits there, starting to eat his marshmallow. He thinks for a while, but stays with his decision first.

"I guess, we stay home for first. Mayby I change my mind later. Mhhhh, tasty."

@,

"I see..." said Riley. "Each to their own."

He chomped down the last of his marshmallow. "Okay, so this is what we have so far," he began. "Two friends go for a trip in the forest. One of them is excited about it, the other is fearful. Little do they know that the forest is actually sentient, and takes advantage of the two friends' conflicting opinions to turn them against each other."

"Pethaps that can be a longer story than the other ideas?"

"Sure. Sounds good so far."

He finish his last marshmallow, chewing it happily.

"Soooooo ... we going back for now? Or stay a bit longer for a while, enjoying the campfire here?"

He goes trough the rhyme again

"This land is your land, this land is my land,

From Califoalnia to the Neigh York island,
From the red wood forest to the Hoof Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.

As I was walking that ribbon of highway,

And all around me a voice was sounding,
This land was made for you and me."

'Well, that was quite a shift in attitude,' Riley mused to himself.

"You do seem pretty keen on thhis place now," said Riley. "And you remember the song really well. How about we stay here for a bit longer, and I'll teach you some more of the song?"

"When the sun came shining, and I was strolling,

And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling,
As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting,
This land was made for you and me."

"Sounds fine to me."

He start to repeat the lyrics he got from Riley to sing.

"When the sun came shining, and I was strolling,

And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling,
As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting,
This land was made for you and me."

"Good job, Rising!" cheered Riley. "You'll be learning the entire song in just one night at this rate! Impressive!"

"As I went walking I saw a sign there,

And on the sign it said "No Trespassing",
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me."

"Thanks. Like I said, sometimes I learn fast, sometimes not."

He goes trough this part in his head, before saying it loud.

"As I went walking I saw a sign there,

And on the sign it said "No Trespassing",
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me."

@,

Riley nodded his head in admiration. If Rising's memory was this good, no doubt he'd be taking home the first place trophy in a tournament of Snap.

"In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,

By the relief office I seen my people,
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?"

Rising listens to the part again. His mind luckily not striking against him, he repeat it correctly out loud.

"In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,

By the relief office I seen my people,
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?"

@,

"Okay, this is the last part of the song now," informed Riley. He cleared his throat and then finished the song.

"Nopony living can ever stop me,

As I go walking that freedom highway,
Nopony living can ever make me turn back,
This land was made for you and me."

"Alright."

He thinks this part again trough his head before saying it out.

"Nopony living can ever stop me,

As I go walking that freedom highway,
Nopony living can ever make me turn back,
This land was made for you and me."

Good song. Rising tought.

"Now back home?"
