Is Sunset the new Element of Magic?

Think about it:

#1. Pony!Twilight already has her group, and she isn't even originally human so she can't be completely part of two groups and lead them without huge conflict arising.

#2. It seems that Human!Twilight isn't gonna be part of the Mane humans, and probably be more of a supporting character or even a slight antagonist 'cause she wants to know what's going on at the school which might lead to some conflicts.

#3. Sunset did transform at the end of Rainbow Rocks into her Anthro/Power form, which means she is part of the group now.

So, I believe she's the leader of the Human Six now and she'll be the Element of Magic for them.

What do you guys think?

Ugh.

I feel like she is. To be honest, it's more than likely. I don't want her to be.

Since the beginning(her comic), she's essentially been "Twilight gone wrong", minus any of the qualities that make Twilight endearing(I was actually surprised she wasn't as intelligent as Twilight; I thought she would help her with the counter-spell). We've seen glimpses of her personality, but she was still stuck in the "villain redemption" stage until the end of EQG2, so she hasn't been fully created. We don't know if she's funny, prone to anger, etc.

Putting the element of magic on her wouldn't be fair. It would basically make her "Twilight 2", which is something I absolutely don't want. It would also force people to compare her to what Twilight has already done, something I don't want either. The best thing they can do is remove Twilight as quickly as possible. Sunset Shimmer is her own character; let her be one for a change.

Yes, she's the element of magic in the human world, it would be an interesting plot how human Twilight might feel after discovering that Sunset Shimmer took her place, it's kinda sad that it's Sunset Shimmer and Twilight's (unintentional) fault that human Twilight never learnt anything about the magic of friendship, and is still a lonely girl who only cares about studying.

I really want human Twilight to be the antagonist of the next movie...

When you think about it, it's aptly fitting, since in Equestria's world, Twilight Sparkle took Sunset Shimmer's place to learn about the magic of friendship. If you've read the comics, Sunset Shimmer is basically new Twilight.

Well, Sunset is more like Twilight after the first 2 episodes, like she said, "i still need to learn a lot", so it wouldn't be comparing what she has done to what Twilight has already done, she still needs to develop. I've always compared them because i've always thought that Twilight would have ended like Sunset Shimmer if she had never learned about friendship. But Twilight was lucky because the prophecy about the elements of harmony happened before she could have become evil.

So yes, Sunset is the new Twilight, and i find it interesting

I suppose that's great if you want to see Twilight. I just...don't.

Mind you, Twilight's not a bad character, but I want to see Sunset Shimmer, not a carbon copy of a pony that already exists. Shimmer has potential- she could be better than Twilight, or she could be worse- I really don't mind as long as she's original. It would hurt her character so much to just be another Twilight, i'd rather prefer she didn't have a character at all, or at least had her EQG one, shallow as it is.

Well, i understand your point, but being similar does not make them equal, they both are the element of magic (or friendship) because they keep the group together in harmony, but they're still different, they have a different past and they will develop in a different way. Look at Pinkie and Cheese Sandwich, they both are pretty similar, but is one of them a carbon copy of the other? No, they're not.

Logically, it does make sense that Sunset represents the element of magic being that she's an Equestrian who is skilled in magic and this is still Equestrian magic. She's basically an ambassador of Equestria.

Human Twilight representing the element of magic wouldn't make any sense since she has no ties to Equestria and no knowledge/experience in magic. She would just be assigned the element of magic because her Equestrian counterpart represents the element of magic.

In a sense, yes. But I really love that picture of Sunset in the original post

I think you could be right. We saw enough of her in Rainbow Rocks to realize that she could have a very important role in season 5, but I personally think she could become a "Sub Element" like a guardian of friendship or something like that.

Anyways its just my opinion!  ^_^

It does all make sense and it would be good for Equestria Academy, she is basically like Twilight Sparkle from FiM, learning Friendship one at a time.

I can't wait to see what carries onward from Here^^

PS: I <3 Susnet Shimmer so much I wanna snuggle her >////<

I don't like the head cannon of her being a Element of Magic.

I would say "Element of Unity", if its her being bad or her being good, Shimmey always seems to be bringing the girls together.

I...I really don't think sunset shimmer will be in season 5...

Same. Her pony counterpart doesn't live in Equestria anymore so the only chance is if she uses the portal to Equestria and I highly doubt it'll happen. It'd be really nice seeing as she got some excellent character development in Rainbow Rocks, so she'd be more interesting to have around for the show.

I don't think she'll be in season 5. She seems more like a EG exclusive character. I don't think she's an official element of harmony, more like an honorary one or something of that nature.

Maybe she'll represent something else, like Cadance do with the Crystal Heart, and it's not an Element of Harmony. We'll have to wait to find out

Perhaps. But what it could be is the biggest question. I'd jokingly think it'd be the power of rock. But that's probably not even close. It'd be funny though in a weird way.

@@ClockworkMLP, I've merged your thread with a pre-existing one regarding Sunset and her hypothesised Element. For me personally, I would say Sunset could be the Element of Unity. Her dark side brought the Humane 5 together and she reignites their friendship in RR.

I know that Sunset Shimmer in EG2 is absolutely adorable and I want to hug her so much.

However, I can see what you're saying. But I think I'll wait until the after credits scene of EG2 comes into play, it may just change things.

One thing I'd like to see in an EG3 (should such a thing ever be made) would be Sunset Shimmer using her magic (for good rather than evil). She was Celestia's personal protégé before Twilight Sparkle, and according to The Fall of Sunset Shimmer she was pretty powerful. So let's see some of that!

I don't think she is. I mean, the elements seem to work differently in the human world and the human mane 6 aren't really that in tune to the elements of the pony world. It'd be a lot more interesting if the human world Elements were entirely different. Why? Because while we can relate to the ordeals of the Ponies in MLP, the human world is definitely different. The human Elements of harmony should be something entirely different. As such, i don't think Sunset would be the new element of Magic. Especially since Magic doesn't exist in the human world usually.

I really don't think Sunset representing the element of magic would make much sense.  The end of EqG, when she tried to wear the element of magic, she was unable to properly wield it like Twilight could.  Also, because Sunset is obviously not Twilight's human counterpart, if Sunset were linked to the element of magic, than that element would end up being wielded by more then one person/pony.

That would be like if, in "The Legend of Zelda" someone else shared the Triforce of Courage with Link.  It just wouldn't make any sense.  As for Sunset's color (Red) joining the deus ex machina rainbow at the end of Rainbow Rocks, I don't think that was because she's conected to an element.  In the battle against the Dazlings, they didn't use the elements at all.  It was entirely the raw magic of friendship itself.  While only the mane six are linked to the EoH, I think anyone is capable of being a good friend and sharing in the magic of friendship.  That Inculdes Sunset Shimmer.  She has officially joined thier group now though.  I'll admit, I'm very curious to see how this will play out in Equestria Girls 3.

Ps. if Sunset Shimmer did have an element, I think it would be the element of forgiveness.  Due to her experiance in trying to gain forgiveness for her own past wrongdoings, I think she would be the most forgiving of the Rainbooms.  Forgiveness was more or less her entire character arc in Rainbow Rocks.  Not to mention that she was the only one (excluding Twilight who was completely distracted with trying to write a counter spell) who didn't get sucked into any of the arguements.
