I'm worried about the future of the show...

...and I'm not talking about it's quality, but about it's reputation: continuing my discussion about the late negativity of the fandom lately, I've the fear that those people could hurt the opinion of the ones that still love it much, and putting it under a bad light, making other people hate it, I don't want to see that happen. I know that many people that hated the seasons that are not made by Lauren Faust (pratically all except the first one) are gone, but a few are still in the fandom and they continue to make shitposting and I have the fear they could subjestionate other people and the show would become hated by it's same fans (and don't get me started about Antony C.....).... please tell me I'm wrong...

To be honest, unless the show throws a huge curveball and gets into some really deep stuff (That I don't expect to happen at all) the show will just kind of stagnate for me. I mean what really piqued my interest of the show is it's fanbase, and while I did enjoy the show and probably would have watched it anyway, I had way more fun watching the show (even EG 1 though I still totally hate it) with my brother than I ever would have watching it alone. So even if the show stagnates for me, I'll always have fun watchign it with my Little brother despite whoever writes the stories for it. (unless these stories are horrible then well, it's will just fall out of our lives I guess) As for it's reputation ... doesn't it already have a bad rap in the first place?

Cheria (right) is a small town girl who was afflicted with a terrible sickness when she was very young. Meeting Sophie changed that however. She recovered almost instantly from her illness due to Sophie's magic and gained an undeniable talent with her own, and what does she do with this magic? She acts as a healer for her small town and helps the militia keep the hostile border safe. Seven years later, she's started a nation-wide relief organization after her adventure with Sophie and Friends, a great connection to the element of generosity.

I dont even KNOW who writes what episode. I just abide and watch the show.

And look at me. Every single episode is an adventure for me.

You see, that's what happens if you're an analyst/watch analysts tear apart a show about candy-colored horses for being out of character...You ruin the show for yourself.

You become bitter. You don't get the same warm n fuzzies you used to when watching it. Because you're too caught up on the downsides to look at the bright side: it's pone. It's ALWAYS good.

I agree. I mean I don't critique the show, but I do point out some of the things that bother me about it, but even that one big thing that grated on me was kind of alleviated during the 4th season finale. (it was the fact that when they had a flaw it was in direct contrast to their element. It never really occurred to me because I'm an idiot that they being tested in their elements)

There's not one single perfect fandom in the world, really. There'll always be that token minority that remain bitter and twisted towards everyone else, although it seems strange to me that a cartoon about female rainbow ponies defending friendship can attract embittered, mannerless, filthy-minded people at all. As human beings, we're wired to remember the bad things more easily than the good things, and because of that, it can seem as though anything's being overtaken by badness. I guess that you've got to keep things in perspective and, if you're concerned about the future, remember that no fandom's going to just dry up and die. Just look at the Firefly fans.

Well yes there do exist the few who just mindlessly bash the show for changing Twilights character design, but look at the sonic fanbase, they mindlessly bash his games all the time. But most fans(including myself)still buy sonic games, so I don't see why a few ignorant fans will stop me and others from watching the show.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

And just for make you know: an overrated woman leaving doesn't mean the death of a show, disgusting things like a character that gets his tonetail ripped brutally and with gore in it means the death of a show (You know what I'm talking about right?).

Well, I do think that each episode is new, and usually amazing, sometimes the analysis is fun! If you a friend to discuss details of the show, it makes it better. You might not like a certain pony, but if you friend does, you might find something you never noticed about the pony you didn't know before. It can help you to notice what others see in a character, or plot, and maybe you'll like the show even more afterwards. :)

Our fandom will stand strong, until the very end... the end of the show that is. Our fandom will not be ended by the likes of people who feel like they need to hate those who like a show. We get hate, and our reputation has always been bad, but as long as we know it is good, we will survive.

Here is how I see it.

With Anti-Bronies' hate:

-Those he feel like protecting the bronies will also come to like the fandom. (Nice outsiders)

-Those who get curious about what the hate is about will become interested as well.

-Bronies grow a stronger relationship to one another

-Outsiders join unintentionally.

Without Anti-Bronies' hate:

-the fandom would have a harder time existing, also remaining stable would be an issue.

I think that the Anti-Bronies are doing us good. Well I really don't know about everyone else, but I really started to like the fandom when people united together to stand against such hate, and still stand strong. I'm not sure that I would be here if there wasn't any hate toward the fandom.

Less hate = Less effort us as a community puts in a fandom.

Less effort = Less noticeable

less noticeable = Not many people join

no one joins = Fandom downfall

The bronies are not bronies without the hate, that may seem like a bad thing, but it bonds us together rather than if we didn't receive hate.

Taking this chance i shall share what i have in mind too, what if Gen 5 becomes like Gen 3?

What's so bad about Gen 3? I don't know. Never watched or had any MLP except Gen 4. Even the documentary Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony stated that Gen 3 was horrible

Well, just ignore those people. Problem solved

The thing I'm most worried of, is that the writers are busy pleasing the bronies. I mean, look at Power Ponies, and say to me that it isn't fan service. Because that's what it is.

And now with the 100th episode that will focus on the background ponies (You're not going to convince me that girls want to see an episode about background ponies) I'm afraid the show is slowely becoming less and less good.

Yeah, I'm that kind of person that looks way to deep in a kids show XD

Yep yep/ Even on this forum there have been times where I defended characters in threads dedicated to marginalizing a character (Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash tend to be the specialty it seems), and during the discussion the friendly passion shown has led to other readers stopping and decide to take a closer look. Heck the Rarity Fan Club grew because of peer discussion and analysis. It's really the discussion part that is important more so than the analysis. Two people may take a different approach on the same character. When they meet and discuss they will share ideas and thoughts which may may lead to an epiphany.

That said, I do think that the Brony analysts community take their views too seriously. The ones that do their thing with their tongue firmly planted in their cheek are what I prefer.

Anyway, it's the discussion that can heighten the enjoyment of the show. If said discussion starts to feel too poisonous ... hit the eject button.

Just ignore people who say the fandom's bad. The fandom is GREAT, there are just some idiotic people.

I think this fandom is fortunate in that its core principles tend to be able to withstand haters and keep their own opinion. I mean, if we put so much stock in other people's thoughts about the show we love, we wouldn't be the vibrant community that we are regarding our favorite candy colored equines. Just because they bring up points, invalid or no, doesn't mean I have to change my opinion.

You see, a lot of people were happy with stuff like season 4. It's just that negative part of the analysis community that confuses nitpicking for actual criticism. Seriously, some these critics' complaints are not really actual problems. It's like they're trying to hate the episodes by making these insane critiques. I'm not against criticizing the show when it makes mistakes, but really, use actual criticisms and not nitpicks. It doesn't make you look good, it just makes you come off as complaining for the sake of complaining.

The solution: I ignore these few critics who are like this and not watch their reviews because they'll only end up sucking out my enjoyment of the show.

I don't care who's nitpicking or jumping ship on this show. They won't change my enjoyment of it and neither should your enjoyment change.

The analysis community does this stuff because they enjoy it. I myself like analyzing concepts so we can learn even more from this show than if we just watched it passively. However, I do agree with the viewpoint that many analysts take their stuff too seriously. At the end of the day, we're doing it because it's fun, and it should always be both fun and informative. Too many times do some reviewers get their own visions, emotions, and grudges too much in the way of providing a fair view on the episode. In that case, there are plenty of analysts and reviewers who don't do that. I feel Dr Wolf is one of the best at keeping emotion and nitpicking away from his reviews and maintaining a fair, balanced, fun, and informative tone.

Being critical or overanalytical does not necessary mean you will start to dislike the show. Heck, I review episodes on my blog, and some I don't think are overly great; but recognizing the bad doesn't mean ignoring the good either. I still enjoy episodes, even ones I really shouldn't. Heck, I think "A Canterlot Wedding" is terribly written and pretty badly implemented, and I'm more than willing to point out why I think so. That doesn't mean I don't watch and enjoy it.

Ultimately, you can't just accept what other people think of the show. If they have valid criticisms, you can acknowledge them while still enjoying the show itself. If an analyst can convince you to hate an episode you previously liked, I'd say you lack convictions of your own.

If you like the show, you like the show, and if you don't like some episodes as much as others, you don't like some episodes as much as others. If you like the good stuff in a show enough to overlook anything not as good, than that's that. You shouldn't let what other people think, whether they be legit or a couple of asshats, get in the way of your enjoyment of candy-colored ponies.
