Dates and Years

So, a friend and I are attempting a fanfitcion in the form of a diary shared by Fluttershy and Discord. It would be happening right around a week before "Magical Mystery Cure". How would I date the diary entries? Or could somepony direct me to a website that explains how the Equestrian years work?

From what I've heard there is no "our equivalent" to their moon cycle which to me says that time passes at the speed of plot.  My best guess for you is either pick an approximate number of years from the founding of Equestria or Discord's downfall.

There is no official canon calender, so whatever you choose will be educated guesses and assumptions. Best of luck.

I would probably write it like

    Week 1 day 3 Thursday

or something along the lines of that.  In reference to MMC, maybe you can put something like

 

6 Days before the events of Magical Mystery Cure.

I've got a thread trying to put the 1st three seasons' episodes in order.  Princess Twilight, T says it is 2 days to the Summer Sun Festival.  That puts it June 19-22 in year 2 (I call the pilot June 20-22, year 1).  This puts MMC a day or 2 before that, June 17 or 18, year 2.  This assumes the episodes took place over 1 year.  A bit under 1/2 of bronies seem to agree w that.  This means the events of MMC took place over 1 day.  The farm being so run down & AJ having to board up the shop are artistic exaggerations, not signs these events took longer
