I can definitely see where you guys are coming from, and I would like to add an emphasis on the importance of Alicorns in Equestria:

The species of ponies do match up with personality. Earth ponies are workaholics and engineers, unicorns are the artsy and nerdy types, pegasi are pilots and meteorologists, and last but not least, alicorns have knowledge of government and power to serve other ponies' needs before themselves. The reason why I think alicorns match up with the government type personality is because they have to run the place and bring civility and protection to a territory. Alicorns have superstrength, ability to fly, and have extensive array of magic for a reason, running Equestria takes A LOT of power to maintain a civilized nation. Back to human reality, it's not different in the American constitution: "By the people, to the people, for the people." Alicorns also have to obey Equestrian constitution so they don't get too overpowered, and that is where the knowledge of government comes into play, so here's some pony government for ya, now go hug an alicorn and say thanks! 

 

 

 

The idea of alicorn guards could also bring up the idea of male alicorns too!

 

Equestrian Constitution:

Art. 01 - Princess Celestia can do whatever she wants.

Only paragraph: Princess Celestia can not do whatever she wants.

 

Art. 02 - A pony's mind is to be kept untouched.

Parag. 1: Does not apply to Princess Luna.

Parag. 2: Does not apply to Princess Cadance.

Parag. 3: Does not apply to whatever weird magic comes out of the Crystal Empire.

Parag. 4: Does not apply to reformation spells and/Princess Twilight.

Parag. 5: Does not... Wait. Can Princess Celestia do any of this?!

My ponysona's eyes are inherited by her father who left her since she was a little foul. And yes, she does use dark magic, but by book and caution. She's a good pony.

I think that you should be able to make whatever OC you want, whether it be earth, pegasus, unicorn, or alicorn. I personally like the unicorns the best but alicorns are OK in my book.

Sometimes, however, based off the character, the level of OP, and how the roleplayer roleplays them can result in a decent OC becoming terrible. I've seen characters ruined by how the rper uses them, abusing the powers that come with an alicorn and basically godmodding everything to hell XD

 

BUT (and here comes the but)! If an alicorn has a good backstory, a great reason to BE an alicorn, and balanced powers/the roleplayer has a basic understanding of how magic works, then they can be amazing!

My rule of thumb is that an alicorn is OP in any setting, so that should be taken into consideration before even joining ^v^ BUT! Some people are even overpowered compared to normal alicorns! Which is a thing that DOES infuriate me.

 

 I know a certain member with a VERY OP alicorn. It's almost tailor made to ruin RPs and stealing attention by waving "Anything you can do, I can do better" to people xD

 

I'd say, shoot for Celestia or Luna's alicorn strength. They have a long defeat streak cx But of course are still awesome and powerful goddesses c:

A back and forth RP in a Fan Club is not permitted guys. We have a section where you can do that officially. The occasional line here and there is fine as you are discussing your appreciation of the character ... but we hid an inordinate amount of posts here.

My favourite alicorn is Cadance by the way.
