Hasbro ain't gonna get within 1 million miles of this topic, not if you held their mother hostage at gun point.  WAY too controversial.  Thus, it will remain pure speculation for all time.  I never was very religious, but back in my hippy, dippy days (when Julius Ceasar & I hunted dinosaurs with our friend Moses), I had some friends who were Jesus Freaks.  I vaguely remember them saying something about Jesus having said something about "In my father's house there are many mansions..."   This was during some discussions about SETI.  Their point was Jesus came because Adam sinned.  Aliens would either be without original sin or God would make some provision to save them

 

Ponies SURE ain't without sin.  They seem to view Celestia the way Catholics view the Saints.  I recall some Roman emperor saying something about "They say I'm a God.  What do I do when someone prays to me to cure their gout?"  In LOTR, Tolkein has the elves as being vaguely pagan, calling on Elthoniel for help (? Can't recall the name.  My mind isn't what it used to be.  Then again, it never really was) 

 

I'd make a small bet some ponies view ALL alicorns that way & I'd bet Twilight is REALLY uncomfortable w that.  Deal w it Twi, you made the sun rise, compared to your friends, you ARE a demigod. The ancient Greeks believed friendship was only possible between equals.  I'd say, for you, Driving Miss Daisy is the Ghost of Xmas yet to come

 

Oh & I don't think Alicorns are immortal, just EXTREMELY long lived (several thousands of years) & Celestia may be coming to an end.

Princess Celestia is basically their God since no higher powers have succeeded in dethroning her permanently. And considering how long she has been around, it makes sense that any words of guidance and wisdom are written in books for other ponies to embrace.

Maybe it's just some lookalike book? I mean, he's obviously a pastor because he's wearing the neckband thingy they usually wear.
