Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 That's kinda precisely my point. The odds are so against humans that the only way they really survive and become heroes is because the author thinks his own race should have a slice of the action. Loyalty is often stronger in races like dwarves and (depending on the number of subraces) elves than any human. Even man's own curiosity and ingenuity is eclipsed completely by gnomes. Man is a delusional race who believes themselves more important than the slavestock that they would be otherwise. Perhaps you make a poignant point, but the only reason dragons, dwarves, and elves have any power at all is because the author also thinks they should have a slice of the action. An author could write dragons as frail little lizards with pixie wings, but instead he writes them as fierce beasts. Just the same, the author portrays humans as flawed but with the most heroic individuals with the most principles around. Dwarves are greedy and their loyalty is to gold and Elves have a superiority complex, so they are not without their own flaws as well. Man is a delusional race who bow down to kings and queens just like the other races, but when it counts they come through with bravery that is not matched by any other race. They refuse to be slaves against all odds, and that is an admirable trait. 1 #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

You would naturally need a species, or multiple species', capable of surviving unreal dangers sometimes beyond the realms of their own world even. You could say that the humanoid races at least could be an evolutionary offshoot of humans who managed to evolve to survive such perils too but humans as we are in this world wouldn't survive a horde of fire demons impervious to pain. Scrubbed user 3,416 November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 My mind without a physical body, a spirit maybe? Or a ghost Not too noticeable, can turn invisible, float through walls, "cause" things to happen" Poltergeist maybe xD As someone who has experienced paranormal activity and has seen a ghost, I wouldn't say they're "fantasy creatures". Untitled Goose Q 5,137 November 26, 2014 Share November 26, 2014 well seeing as humans can thrive in harsh environments (north africa, the mongolian steppes, the wilds in general) and have survived several outbreaks of plagues, I don't think you really know what you're talking about. No, I don't think you get what I am saying. Yes, humans are very good at surviving, in this world we are generally the best at surviving in any given environment. In a fantasy world populated by dwarves, elves, etc, there are more dangers, dangers we in this world have never faced, and the other fantasy races are typically better at surviving in various environments than we humans would be. The only reason humans survive at all is that it is humans writing the stories. Realistically, we would not survive, except for maybe a few pocket communities. I don't see how other races existing would affect our ability to survive. Obviously the humans in fictional writing have faced those dangers and have survived, and going off of your logic, the only reason those other races have survived is because the writers made them, seeing as those savage worlds have immense creatures that could kill primitive elves and dwarves and goblins as easy as a human. Plus, I don't see how the other races are any better at surviving, like elves and dwarves. If anything the dwarves are also at a disadvantage because of the huge creatures that live in fantasy worlds and theyre smaller than humans. Buck Testa 5,505 November 27, 2014 Share November 27, 2014 (edited) What fantasy creature would I like to be? A True Vampire. Or rather a human that was turned to a vampire through magical means instead of being bit, thus making that person the first in that specific breed of vampire and are demigod-esk in their abilities. Examples include Alucard from Hellsing and Evangeline from Negima Edited November 27, 2014 by Buck Testa http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Billy%20G%20Gruff http://billyggruff.deviantart.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPVpSXbUpDYTcaFHTPiPjYA
