Daedric Pony 165 April 4, 2012 Share April 4, 2012 I'm just wondering what programs you artistic people would recommend I use. I have a fantastic app on my iPhone that has a line smoothing feature called "drawing delay" you can set it from 1 to 30 pixels. You drag your finger and it draws a line slightly behind it making a VERY smooth line depending on how far back its set. I downloaded the Photoshop CS5 trial and surprisingly it doesn't have anything like this at all. It has a little "Smoother lines" check-box but its very ineffective and not what I was looking for. This is a feature I feel like I would need even if I decided to buy an art tablet. So for now I actually prefer the free ArtStudio iPhone app over Photoshop for pony drawings. Are there any other good programs I should try out? I would be shocked if nothing could match up to an iPhone app... Just for reference the app has layers, unlimited undos and redos, unlimited zoom and an excellent line smoother. That's pretty much all I really need. Both of them are vector-based programs, which means that they work with curves and shapes rather than pixels. Flash in particular has some excellent tools for finely tuning the curvature of a line. For quick work, such as simple avatars cropped from screenshots, I use regular MS Paint, but for anything beyond that, it's all delicious GNU freeware. I agree with Feld0 Inkscape is what I use for a lot of my art, It's a bit intimidating at first, but don't worry it's alot easier than what it appears to be, If you're more interested in it you can watch this Tutorial to kind of get an idea of what it's like and how to use it. If you want something vector-based, like Illustrator, go with Inkscape. If you have a 3DS or iOS device, and want something you can bring with you anywhere, get Colors!/3D. MyPaint is a pressure sensitive tablet paint program that comes with a large brush collection(including charcoal and ink) to emulate real media, but the hightly configurable brush engine allows you to experiment with your own brushes and with not-quite-natural painting. I just took that description from the description in the software center because I had no other way to describe it. 1 Twilight Sparkle is best pony, and I'm willing to explain logically for that to be true! By the way, mine and Twilight's personalities have a lot of similarities, maybe hardly any difference. Paint.net is free, and has many free plugins. My avatar and my signature were made with it if you take a close look at them. (Spoilered for massiveness.) ~Relax and enJOY life.
