Twilight and Flash sentry to me is just a joke in equestria girls. I couldn't see it coming into the main show. 

 

I don't think the writers would pair any of the Mane 6 with anyone else otherwise that takes away the mane point of the show (i love the puns). I could only see supporting characters getting paired up.

 

Either way i still think Cheerilee would be first, unless they just tease us with it like Spike and Rarity.

I don't think I can see any of the Mane 6 with coltfriends... Well, I suppose I can see Fluttershy and Discord happening. And I don't take statements like that lightly considering it would ruin my personal headcanon wherein Fluttershy and RD have a crush on each other (with both too afraid to admit it). But it does seem reasonable, I think, and one of the only Mane 6 coltfriend scenarios that might not cause the whole fandom to explode in anger at its happening. One of the reasons I think this is because it would be something they've spent a great deal of time building up to, rather than something that just suddenly happens with no build up.
Also, Fluttercord would make an adorable couple imo. (but not even close to Flutterdash, just saying)

I could see two of the mane six having colt friends.

Twilight Sparkle: It's going to happen at some point, and everyone is going to hate it. In my point of view Flash and Twilight would make a cute couple. I find it weird how everybody hates him so much, Twilight would be much happier with a caring colt like Flash, not anyone's OCs.

Pinkie Pie: In Pinkie Pride, I just got to say Cheese Sandwich and Pinkie Pie would make an awesome partying couple. They're both two ponies who were born to make others happy, and make others smile. Even when Cheese admitted that without Pinkie Pie, he wouldn't have his cutiemark and he would be sad.

I guess Twilight would be the first one, probably with Flash. I really hope that doesn't happen though, and that romance stays out of the show altogether, or failing that, sticks to side characters. I'll admit that that's mostly because of all my preferred ships though.

 

Part of me is hoping they'll go the Legend of Korra route but I suspect that's a bit too much to ask.
