Musicians you grew to like?

Anyway pretty straightforward question, what artist(s)/band(s) did you not like/not care for and then grew to like?

For me personally I never really cared for Nirvana and now I love their music, it came completely out of left field for me.

So how about you all?

Dubstep as a whole. My brother used to listen to it all the time and I hated it. Then Stockholm Syndrome got the best of me and now I love dubstep lol

It was Skrillex probably. He only ever listened to the two songs of his that got played a million and a half times on the radio. For a while I thought it was just noise. But then I found a few of his other less heard songs and I kinda like him. I wouldn't consider him a favorite musician but I don't hate his music anymore.

Still sticking to my roots in classic and alternative rock, though

I refuse to let go until you're impressed.

I never liked Pink Floyd.

But lookie now. ;p

Also rap. I was never a huge fan of rap, then I heard Tupac (I think it was him) and now I love it.

Two bands. Gorillaz and Evanscence. The first was introduced to me through my Uncle John, the second through music for a roleplay. I was kinda meh at both, and then I decided to humor it and now I love it.

Welp, time to go back into my corner and listen to Demon Days and Fallen.

Well, heavy metal as a whole. I listened to the radio stuff, whatever was on video game OSTs and whatever would show up on my Yahoo music vid playlist.

It wasn't until around November 11th, 2011, that I found the channel VH1 classic, and their National Metal Week special. So many concert programs, music videos, documentaries and talk shows, and none of it mixed w/ reality TV! My whole focus on music changed after than and I dove head first into the genre.

Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Ronnie James Dio. And then came the laundry list of bands that I hadn't heard of and should've.

Probably the biggest to have earned my respect was Pantera. Didn't care much when 'Cowboys' or 'Walk' would come on air. Then I found concert footage from their Moscow show in 91 and just blew me away w/ the song 'Domination' as well as the dark song '10s' which I had heard and liked years earlier, but never knew it was them.  That and reading various interviews for other artists, I learned how their guitarist, 'Dimebag' Darrell Lance Abbott, was just an absolute monster on guitar, and I was just blown away by how fast he could shred or how heavy the riffs he come up with were. He was apparently a huge inspiration for many, many metal musicians today. And it wasn't that he was just a phenomenal player, but a phenomenal human being too. From what I keep reading, he was just one of the nicest, most approachable guys around, always up for a party, making time for his fans, donating to his favorite charities, and just doing nice things for his fellow musicians. He would also get some crazy ideas and drag everyone on wild adventures. So, pretty much a real life Pinkie Pie.

I probably would have had a total blast a Pantera show.
