What's your self esteem like? Has it changed?

I lie to myself a bunch, and self-esteem is no exception. Most people say I've got pretty good self-esteem, they couldn't be further from the truth.

It's pathetic, I know, but I need validation from my friends that I'm worth having around and not just a useless bag of biomass that should be disposed of.

I can actually relate to this a lot.

I don't know what my self-esteem is like anymore, honestly, but it sure isn't what it used to be....in that it seems to be getting lower with each day that goes by.

It's not good but it was WAY worse. If you've seen the main character from the  watamote anime you'll know what I'm talking about, although I wasn't as hopeful as her.

Anyway, I'm a bit better now. Who would have known that what I needed was exactly what I was looking for, someone who actually was willing to help and understand and freely give what I was desperately looking for, some kind if affection. I still feel worthless, incapable, inadequate, ignorant, like garbage, but I at least try to forgive myself for being like that and accept it. If I'm that person well... I guess I'm not the successful one I used to envy in others but at least I'm not dead yet like I wanted. And in today's society there's a little bit understanding and ppl are willing to be a bit more patient with individuals like me so I can learn even if it hurts to acknowledge yourself as that guy no one wishes they would be.

It fluctuates. One minute I’m happy with myself and my looks the next not so much.

I'd say my self-esteem has improved a ways since my original post (probably thanks to being loved ), though I will say it isn't all too high still.

Well, this actually isn't an entirely accurate picture. My newfound self-esteem can pretty much collapse at any moment, resulting in depressive episodes that range from mild to "I feel worthless and a waste of everyone's resources." Nonetheless, as suddenly as it may collapse, it may also just as abruptluy rise back up with the proper support from... him.

I don’t have high self esteem. Most people don’t. But I’ve been focusing on it lately and learning exactly how it affects my psyche, and that understanding is surely a good thing.

For the most part, yeah. I'm a different person now than I was 5 years ago; I overcame some deep personal issues. I'm not truly happy with myself, but I don't hate myself either.

It's very low and always has been.  I don't think that's really gonna change much.

I wouldn't say it's high, but it's not critically low like it used to be.

Talking to you and @Clawdeen every day helps to boost my self-esteem! :dash-hoof:

Not sure. I used to have a high self esteem when I was slaying it and being successful. Then, after isolating, I got comfortable in my isolation and my self esteem fluctuated a bit. I still love people and love charisma but... *rushes away to home office to hide*

My self esteem is pretty normal, it’s used to be really low but over time, you learn that being you is the best thing you can do for yourself. I don’t believe in “fixing” as it will only bring yourself down more.

Mine is low, but that does not mean I think others should be brought down, it's awful and as a community I believe it is our duty to be respectful and considerate to each other.

I hope yours has improved since then, Snoopy Fan, I wish to offer you a hug. And I make a Pinkie Promise to never abandon you, as a friend.

For me it's both and I think really it depends exactly on what we're talking about. While thoughts in regards to my appearance are low my thoughts in regards to myself in my job are high. I worked hard to get to where I'm at and I'm proud of myself for that. It really just depends on what aspect of myself we're referring to.

I get that 100 percent in many ways and job wise:  :derpytongue:

I feel like I have no sense of self-esteem whatsoever and I have no idea how to fix it. When I go to do social activities, I often feel inferior to the people I try to talk to, which further adds to how I can't think of what to say. All my flaws just feed each other and I feel so stuck where I am.
