Hmmmm . . . nope.

 

I mean I can't think of one. I'm a deep immersion gamer. I get sucked into the experience. When I start playing, I'm in for whatever the creators wish to throw at me. My willing suspension of disbelief is nigh indestructible.

 

I personally consider this a good thing.

I'm the same way. I get so sucked into the game that nothing else exists. Only the game. I stop being me and I start being the one who witnesses the events of the game. Past experiences are void, opinions on other games is irrelevant. All that is and ever will be is the game I'm currently playing. I cease to think when I play games, though that isn't to say I'm just turning my mind off. It's more like my mind is focusing all of it's attention on playing the game so all of my brainpower is put into that.

 

Because of that I tend to like pretty much every game I play. Even the shittier of games is enjoyable to me because of that.

 

It's only really after the fact that I start to think about how I liked the game, which is very hard to put into words since most of my experience was existential (for lack of a better word), and that can change how I feel about games when I talk about them with someone. However, once the controller is in my hand and the game is on I'm back to enjoying it all over again.

At the end of Sonic '06 where Elise kisses Sonic. Ew...

I will never ever ever ever understand why people have a problem with this. I know why they don't but I just don't understand why people kick up such a huge fuss. It's like people who react like this have never even heard of the furry fandom.

Parts in Metal Gear Games

 

MGS1:

 

The scene with Snake meet Meryl should be emotional and is it ... but if you reach the toilet in less then a specific time, nearly the whole cutcenes are with her, only in shirt and panties

 

MGS2:

 

You hear from a dangerous terrorist who laid bombs all over the Big Shell .. Shit! And then it's a fat guy, in a big bomb suit who laughs and drives on rollerskates

 

MGS3: The Fear: He dosn't fear me at all. You can easily kill him(At least on easir difficulties) and does nothing scary, except mayby in the fight start and fight end scene

 

MGS PO: Well, no serious part, but shooting Campbell in the cell is fun XD

 

MGS4: The B&B Corps. A special unit in robo suits to kill you, behind them Super speciliazed soldiers beautiful traumatized girls ... yeah, seriously, they try after the main fght to hug you and that lose life! XD

 

MGS PW: A legendary mercenary to stop a nuclear holocaust ... hey, why not first shooting baloons and killing dragons? XD Or dating Paz ... or ... Kaz ... yeah

 

MGSV: Snake, stop kidnapping goats XD

 

MGR: 98% of the game could be serious bt isn't ... willed XD

Okay...Destiny. You're running along in a dark room, the atmosphere is intense, the music is dark, your heart is racing. You have no idea what to expect until you hear the shrill cry of the Hive for the first time in the game.

You start panicking but then "Oh no. It's the hive." Your dinklebot tells you with such little enthusiasm, you feel like jumping into your TV just so you can smash the little thing with a hammer personally for ruining such an incredible moment (potentially).

Oh wait! I thought of one. It was for a game I didn't play so I wasn't exactly as immersed in it as I usually was, but was watching my brothers play it. 

 

. . . . GTA. Any in the series, but these in particular were four and five. Anytime they tried to pass Niko or Franklin off as functional, normal human beings and not amoral psychopaths, I wanted to laugh and point at all the destruction, mayhem, and murder my brothers did or were going to do. (Okay, not really laugh, because frankly it's not funny.)

 

I was actually pleading for my brother not to kill a pedestrian and it hurt me inside whenever I saw an innocent come to harm or a cop got gunned down. Almost to the point that I wish I could leave the room, flip on another console, and then suddenly Niko or whoever gets sidelined by Cole Mcgrath!

 

"Let's see how well your murderer can continue his rampage when his nervous system resembles an ant under a microscope!" I would yell from the other room.

It should be noted that even though you have the freedom to do whatever you want story-wise shit like that doesn't actually happen in the game unless it happens in a story mission.

 

The fact that you can do it should convince the writers to stop trying to lie to us that we aren't playing as the Id of Charles Manson! Think of Scarface. We follow Tony Montana as he rises through the ranks of organized crime, but we're not meant to find him heroic. We sympathize with him due to the size of the challenges he faces and the perverse glamour of his world. In GTA there is no such respect. The player is free to do whatever the Hell they want with no consequence, yet the actual character exists in a bubble where we are meant to root for them! Despite the fact that I just saw them run over an elderly woman on his way to his contact.

 

Either make all the characters like Trevor, or have the player's frankly monstrous inhumanity actually impact how the other characters react to them. I don't care if you're talking to a drug dealer or the mob boss of the entire East Coast, every contact should be quaking in fear every time they have to interact with the barely contained walking holocaust that is a GTA protagonist.

Fallout New Vegas, were the game builds up a tense climatic battle between you and a NPC only to easily kill them with a rolling pin. I can't take moments on that game seriously when they do that....

 

Except the fight with Ulysses, that was epic.

In Rune Factory 4, once you complete the game, you can change your appearance to that of the main antagonist in the game. It's really funny, because he shouts powerful and climatic phrases whenever you swing your sword at an enemy. And when you use your Escape spell? "DISAPPEAR!!" Either that's been taken in the wrong context, or he decided to be a magician. XD

the ending of destiny. you finnaly get a gate lords head, fight your way to the black garden then take on darkness itself. you get your way through 3 statues the darkness brought to life and then you get to actually fight the darkness, except NOPE the darkness just dies and dinklebot says good work. man destiny is a great game but the story was absolute SHIT.
