RPG is such a broad genre that I'm not quite sure what counts and what doesn't. Some of my favorite games I'm sure are RPGs would be:

- Paper Mario (Specifically Thousand year Door)

- Mass Effect

- Megaman Battle Network

- Megaman Starforce

- Kingdom Hearts

- Pokemon

- Darksiders (though that might be more Action Adventure with some RPG elements thrown in, same with Kingdom Hearts)

Older FFs, so pre-7 (I really didn't like 7, don't see the big fuss about it. 6 looked nice, 7 was painful to look at and the characters were meh. And the new ones...Well...No.)

Fallout 2 and 3, I just really like them both.

And my favourite of all: The greatly overlooked Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. I have replayed that game so many times...

As much as I enjoy Bethesda-style RPGs, my favorite is either Dragon's Dogma or an RPG Creation game (I own one for PS1). Ilike the difficulty and wide range of weapons, which also makes Dark Souls II one of my favorites as well.

Skyrim would be my absolute favorite if there were a wider arsenal.

- Final Fantasy VI, VII ( plus all the sub-brands), VIII, IX, X

- Mass Effect 1... Ok, 2 and 3 but maybe in other dimesion where EA doesn't exist

- TES Oblivion (my fist one, sorry but for some reason Morrowind doesn't attract me), Skyrim

- Borderlands 2 (ok, it's not exactly an RPG)

- Crash Bandicot brand

- Driver brand

- Spyro brand

- Fable

- Darksiders brand

- GTA series

- Metal Gear Solid brand

- The Witcher 1, 2 and maybe 3 too

- Others, can't remember all of them

Not a big RPG fan....buuut I've enjoyed the following:

~Skyrim

~Fallout 3

~Fallout: New Vegas

~Borderlands

Since they all have some sort of RPG element to them.

Not a fan of top down  "click to go here" type games.

There's two main types of RPGs in video games:

1. The type where you manage character stats on a semi-deep level. The focus is generally on the numbers and the many ways there are to raise and lower them progressively throughout the game. The method of doing this varies from game to game and there are a lot of games that carry these elements in them but aren't strictly RPGs. Final Fantasy, Star Ocean and Lunar are among this group. It has little actual roleplaying in spite of the genre name.

2. The games that actually involve playing a role but includes some level of stat management as well. This is your Skyrims, Fallouts and Mass Effects. Some prefer this method of RPGs that often gives much more freedom in character development both story- and gameplay-wise. How you play your role can affect your stats quite a bit as opposed to it being purely based on levels and equipment like the above mentioned RPGs.

There are a lot of hybrids out there too though. Games like Bioshock which can be as shootery and horrifying as they are RPG. The features of the RPG genre also mix with other games as well which is why you have people thinking Zelda is an RPG when it's more of an adventure game. Darksiders is the same way. In adventure games your strength comes from outside sources (treasure, collectibles) as opposed to internal ones (levels, skills).

I've never played tabletop. Never had anyone to play with and I can't typically take roleplaying seriously. Granted half the people who try to roleplay with me against my will do so in the most ridiculous ways possible.

There are so many good ones out there.  The best are probably in the:

Baldur's Gate Series

Ultima Series

Fallout Series

and also Final Fantasy 6 (no I do not think the rest of FF, although many others are good, measure up).

I'm a fan of of Fallout, Final Fantasy (7 and the spinoffs in particular), Skyrim, Paper Mario (Thousand Year Door in particular), Animal Crossing (If it counts), Pokemon and Fire Emblem (Particularly 7, 8 and 13). I do like a few more rpgs but I forgot their names, so these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I'd like to say FFX and Persona 3, FFX because of it's Turn based combat style and storyline and Persona 3 because bonds and friendship/ the schooltower system and the aim to go higher. If I were to combine those 2 games... *drool*

I like AD&D 2nd ed. or 3.5

You play D&D? I have played D&D for quite a while now ( 12 years now ) ever since I was 8.

Anyway, my favorite R.P.G? Well, I really liked KOTOR when it came out, The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind was also really fun (my favourite from TES series) and how could I forget Fallout 3 New Vegas.

The numbers are there to get the character count up to 20 so I can add the reply. If you ever see numbers in my posts, that's why.

Ok got ya I will keep that in mind thanks.
