Singe 2,111 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 With all the sweets that Pinkie Pie presents so often. I'm kinda wondering if they decide to diet for an episode.
RarityFan01 2,444 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 I think a lot of people would think Rarity would think she's fat, but Rarity has healthy self esteem. I can actually imagine Fluttershy thinking she's fat when she's not because of self esteem issues. Rarity would least likely talk about her weight considering her character. Rainbow Dash may brag about how healthy she is. Maybe ponies may call Applejack fat after knowing she's overweight even though it's muscle, Twilight doesn't seem like one to care.Although maybe there could be an episode where Pinkie's friends are concerned about her poor health. 1 Rarity Fan Club My Ponysona My Drawing of Rarity
SFyr 1,982 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 I think it'd start touching on sensitive nerves, and undermine the relatively carefree nature of the show if they did. There's just waaay too much bad blood over body image and the need to conform to a thin (or just healthy) lifestyle right now. Telling Pinkie Pie she needs to change kinda goes against their ideal of accepting yourself, and starts drifting into either one side or the other of the debate between "proper diet and exercise" and "all sizes are equally beautiful and healthy." 7 Commission Thread | Deviantart | Poniverse Tumblr | Art Tumblr
Banul 3,831 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 Why would they? The pony's bodies all look the same. There is no difference in weight to comment on.
The Awesome One 1,315 April 19, 2015 Share April 19, 2015 Well I haven't really seen any fat ponies in the show and none of the Mane 6 are even close to being overweight or underweight. They look like your average healthy pony. However, if any of the Mane 6 is going to talk about their weight it's going to be Rarity. She seems to care just a little bit more about her appearance. They look like your average healthy pony. Well, Snips appears a bit chubbier than most foals (though it's probably baby fat); Mrs. Cake is drawn slightly rounder than most mares; and Claude, the puppeteer from "Inspiration Manifestation," was definitely fatter than most stallions. Those are a few heavier ponies I can think of off the top of my head. As for Pinkie, she bounces back from radical weight changes on a dime. Breaking the fourth wall is the best diet. Suffice it to say that fat or chubby ponies aren't terrifically common, and the average pony maintains his or her body shape. I don't know, then, how the writers would approach the topic of weight without the risk of offending someone. 2 Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te. Unlikeable Pony 2,700 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 Eh, I don't think so. that's treading too closely to a sore subject for alot of little girls. Weight is a serious self esteem issue for girls, and I don't think they'd want to risk it, much like I don't think they'll ever tackle AJ's parents being dead directly as a subject. I wouldn't be surprised if in one episode was about putting PinkiePie on some sort of diet The comics already did soemthing similiar with the Phenomen-noms in Twilight/pinkie's FF comic. It was actually really nice.

FlutterHigh 81 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 I don't think there would be an episode about weight or diets. This show teaches people to act responsibly in certain situations like life lessons. This show is not about people perfection like barbie or other shows geared towards self esteem and good looks. If they kick derpy off the show because it's controversial how derpy looks i'm one hundred percent sure they won't let someone down for calling them fat and making them diet. Yeah, I completely agree with this. I will note that I think that it would be a hilarious episode, and I would freaking love to see that. The problem is that these days people get offended way too easily. Not only that, but there is indeed WAAAAY too many of those messages pouring in from the media these days, saying you need to be thin to fit in or be accepted. I will say, however, that though these problems may be prevalent in our society these days, there is another problem as well, and that problem is bad health from diet. Weight and size aside, what you eat obviously effects your health. My family has a history of Diabetes, and Heart Disease. I will admit, I have eaten like CRAP for the past few years, though I have started to try and change my diet so I can improve my health and longevity in the long run. In the end, the message that you don't need to be thin to look good or be accepted, is absolutely necessary. On the other hand, giving the message of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle is also necessary. Although, I hate that they blow this out of proportion and do stupid things like change the Cookie Monster to the Vegetable Monster, and crap like that to brainwash kids into being healthy. Just tell them how it is, and let them decide from there. 1 These days, the world has a tendency of taking itself much too seriously. It is my intention to not follow suit. colt_following 169 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 Has Rarity NOT talked about her weight yet? lol I think the topic isn't relevant for the 'target market'... ""Little girls"". I hope some can agree. Little girls are gonna have a harder time learning a lesson about friendship when it's in regards to something they don't usually have to deal with, even if you take a "self-esteem/self-image" standpoint. Unlikeable Pony 2,700 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 Thinking about it, a weight episode would probably work best with equestria girls (if it ever gets a series instead of just movies) instead of the show; I don't think the ponies would really capture the feel quite like teenage girls. Miles 2,513 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 Maybe ponies may call Applejack fat after knowing she's overweight even though it's muscle Um, there's a discernible difference. You can have toned muscle mass; you can have chub; or both. With AJ bucking apples all day, even though she may eat a lot, I don't think she'd be very fat at all. Applebucking would burn calories fast. Olympic swimmers eat TONS of calories because swimming burns calories quickly. So, you can eat a lot and still not be fat if you are active. --- Diets? LOL. For everyone saying Pinkie is probably fat from eating candy. Pinkie defies ALL logic. I don't think she'd be fat. --- In my opinion, if the Mane 6 didn't look to be the same weight, and logic was applied to their eating/exercising ratio... Rainbow Dash would be the skinniest. Then, Twilight and Fluttershy near the same weight, a bit heavier than RD. (Talking pre-alicorn Twilight here). Then, Pinkie and Rarity near the same weight, a bit heavier than Twilight and Fluttershy. And, Applejack would be the heaviest. But wait! This doesn't mean AJ is fat. This is purely because farmer's builds are large. She's got a lot of muscle. --- Lastly, Half of AJ's body weight is being pressed on the catapult. AJ must weigh at least 50% more than Rainbow Dash. ~ Miles 3 ~ Rise And Rise Again, Until Lambs Become Lions ~

The bmi is outdated, but a lot of people still use it. Applejack is very healthy. People who would think Applejack is overweight don't take muscle into consideration. Those people do exist. Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,303 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 (edited) The Mane Six ponies have extraordinarily high metabolism. Pinkie put on and then shed the muffin weight during "Cutie Markless," and Rainbow burned off her rock candy pudge from "Maud Pie" during a cut-away lol. Perhaps Mrs. Cake decides she could stand to lose a few pounds. And the episode ends with her deciding she's happy as she is. And then she admits that the Cake children were fathered by... chirox the pony 1,336 April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 No I highly doubt that would happen, nor do I want it to, using ponies to teach ideal body image (which is already a harmful concept as it is) isn't the best idea as far as I'm concerned. I've always believed in that head-cannon, but less specifically, just that pegasi have lighter bones. --- I always get irked when people say that. "it's just cartoon logic"... What's the point of discussing it in the first place if we're gonna dismiss its validity? I mean, seriously... In order for us to discuss these kinds of things in the first place, we must assume that the logic of the show has some consistency, and/or holds merit, so that we can pull information from it. (Pinkie Pie is the only one we can give her own logic. She doesn't follow equestrian logic.) So, looking back at the picture I posted, we can say: AJ is heavier than RD. (A simple comparison of greater than/less than). Saying "oh it's cartoon logic" would imply that AJ might not be heavier than RD. I'm sorry but, I do not, and will not accept that. The screencap shows clear as day that AJ weighs more than RD. It's a fact. Doesn't matter what the percentage is, I was just speculating that in my previous it seems to be around 50% more, but it might not be that exact amount. All that makes a difference is that AJ weighs more than RD. ~ Miles ~ Rise And Rise Again, Until Lambs Become Lions ~

Twilight Frost 271 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 I think this is a topic they should never make an episode about. Kids today are already worried enough about their bodies as it is. With all the stuff in the media with looking ultra skinny, it could go very wrong. Although a healthy eating episode about replacing sweets for veggies or healthy snakes that are not loaded with "secret sugars" would be good. Gearbox10mm 794 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 I think the topic of body weight will never come up in the show. That said... The mane six are all drawn to to look the same for convenience and for toys but if you read between the lines it's fairly obvious they represent several different body types. None of them are fat / overweight. They would all be a healthy weight for their respective body types. Look at this screen shot to further explain different body types. Flash is relatively scrawny compared to eco dude but eco dude is nowhere near being fat. He is just built sturdier. The same as Rainbow Dash vs Applejack.
