You said you were going to PM me about my character? I've been waiting for a while now and I'm kind of stoked for this RP. How long do you think you'll need before I can join with my character?

Sorry, I've been busy and had a lot on my mind. Both about real life's stuff and the Rp. That's no excuse though, so I'll send a short message/summary now but I'm afraid if you want any in depth message it will. Need to until after I've hittfb some sleep.

@@FortyTwo42,@@Windbreaker,

Good apps, I'll add them in a few. Thanks guys.

Gloomfury

Level 1

Strength: 18

Dexterity: 10

Faith: 1

Intelligence: 7

Charisma: 7

Vigor: 14

Luck:3

Hope I have the right numbers within 60.

His build is mostly for fighting head on with powerful strength and speed. Thanks to that he developed a tolerance for pain. And even though he's plenty strong now  but when he gets furious his strength goes up a lot. Kinda like the hulk but not that much. About to like 20 more points.

His Intelligence is mostly common sense and the ability to adapt to his situation. His charisma helps with that as well.

And he has no faith at all and very little luck.

^ Uh... +20 to strength would bump Gloom up to 38, and the max is 30. That's totally like Hulk :P

Sillic

Level 1
Strength: 6 (Neither work nor fighting style require much strength, Sillic has mostly neglected strength exercise)
Dexterity: 12 (Fighting style is mostly dodging with the body while attacking with telekinetic blades, so Sillic can focus on quick footwork. Plus, a glassmaker needs to be steady)
Faith: 6 (Doesn't really have a problem with spiritualism or religion, but has never been that big on it)
Intelligence: 10 (average)
Charisma: 12 (Successful merchants need to know how to talk)
Vigor: 7 (See strength)
Luck: 7 (When you make and sell glass for a living, you're going to break a few mirrors)

Signature now 99% less edgy!

I really can't allow a +20 strength boost. Not only is the maximum attribute cap 30 but more than doubling the current stat would be insane

To make up for the boost I would need to vastly overpower the enemies. Which would make it suck for the other players. Other than that, accepted.

Fine. But would it be OK if it just added 10? Besides he doesn't get angry very easily so it won't happen a lot.

And why not give everyone a boost, kinda like a perk in Fallout.

I'm afraid its still a no. It still throws the balance off. Gloomfury's stats are fine the way they are. You won't be running into any normal enemies that will match his strength for a while.

I've been thinking of doing perks but this RP is kind of messy as it is. I'll probably do those in another RP or I'll hand them out in the RP based on your actions.

Here are Cherry's Stats, I think I set them up right.

Cherry Bomb

Level 1

Strength: 8 (Cherry only received mandatory basic training when it came to combat, but even so she very, very rarely got herself into conflicts, as thus she's unfamiliar when it comes to fighting.)

Dexterity: 16 (Working as a bard and acrobatic entertainer is a very physically demanding job, but is one Cherry relishes as she travels from town to town putting on amusing shows for others.)

Faith: 3 (Cherry is not one for religion, preferring to keep an open mind.)

Intelligence: 7 (Cherry's likable personality makes her rather naive and gullible as well as prone to trusting others quickly)

Charisma: 12 (As an entertainer, Cherry finds it rather easy to get on with other ponies,  regardless of race, due to her lively and quirky personality, especially in taverns where the drinks tend to help out.)

Vigor: 3 (The closest Cherry ever got to a proper fight was usually within taverns consisting with drunken ponies.

With their senses heavily dulled and being an experienced agile dancer, Cherry simply moved out of the way or resorted to a swift *bonk* on the noggin with her lute when necessary, but never actually got involved in a proper fight.

As such, Cherry will feel hits a lot harder than most, provided they can catch her.

Luck: 11 (Luck seems to treat Cherry fairly generously every so often, such as a barkeep serving her a drink and simply forgetting to ask for payment.)

Well, here's my app. Finally :3

Name: Jade Beacon

Race: Unicorn

Age: 16

Appearance:

sig-3771004.sig-3771004.Jade%20Beacon_zp

Gray-white coat, Light blue and green mane (I saturated it so that it doesn’t look absolutely horrendous, turned out quite nicely actually)

Bright jade-green eyes.

Backstory:

Jade is the daughter of a renowned astronomer named Shining Sight, her mother, and a magical artificer named Nimbletwist, her father. These two worked together as a team to produce very powerful telescopes, magically powered star maps and other fine craftwork and research of such sort. They lived a pristine life, being acknowledged by even the most prominent academies and schools. Their daughter, expected by the academic world to become just as brilliant as her parents, grew up in a wealthy environment. Though Jade got used to living the good life, she didn’t grow spoiled. Making the most of her situation she tried to take every opportunity she had to learn and improve her skills. Though this hard work was slightly forced upon her by her parents, she still quite enjoyed herself while learning. However, the very seeds of the performance anxiety that would trouble her later in her life rooted in this time of her youth.

Her studies were often interrupted by her own curiosity. Whenever she was supposed to read several books on the history of unicorn legacy, and the importance of several traditional rituals, she often dozed off into dreaming about seemingly random things. Whenever something interesting popped up in her mind, she usually took the time to experiment. She once wondered how flowers bloomed, and when. Instead of looking it up in a book, she went out to see it for herself. At other times her ideas put her into a bad situation. Usually whenever she attempted a far too complex spell that she just found in a book, simply to see what it did. Several expensive vases and other relics have fallen at her careless and clumsy experiments.

At times she would take interest in what her parents did for a living. Assisting her father, she quickly learned how to create very powerful lenses. Even though she was far from proficient at it, she could help her father around while he was busy creating astrological aperture. At the same time, she learned a lot of studying the night sky with her mother. Not necessarily on astronomy, but more so on research. How to keep track of data, how to organise your ideas, and revise what you have written down.

She earned her cutie mark when she started experimenting with magic. Whenever she cast a spell, she took more interest in how it worked and where it came from than what it did. Following her natural curiosity she tried to think of a way to see what magic actually was and where the energy came from. When she herself couldn’t come up with something, she consulted her books on something useful. She found several spells that were made to analyse magic, but none of them allowed a true understanding of its energy in a whole. When she attempted to use these spells in conjunction with each other, she slowly started to see and feel things. Strange radiating lights in varying colours, powerful emotion, heat and cold. When she realised that these strange sensations were actually ways of perceiving the magical energy she was looking for, she was ecstatic. She felt like she was developing a sixth sense, being able to sense magical energy itself! That was when her cutie mark appeared. A green eye, stern and observant, surrounded by rays of magic. That day she discovered her talent for research in magic and magical energies, and ways to manipulate them.

But Jade was still young, and even though her creativity led to some very peculiar inventions and discoveries, she had much to learn. She was eventually enrolled in a magical academy, studying under a very powerful mage. She had little time to experiment with her ideas after this, because she was ceaselessly studying. Spell after spell, book after book, assisting her mentor and presenting the results of her researches. Being under constant pressure didn’t do her well, and it caused her to become quite detached from the world outside the academy, and quite anxious of anything she didn’t understand or learn about, and most of all, very afraid of letting her mentor and her parents down.

Somewhere along the line, Jade’s mother and father started to grow apart. They weren’t as close as they used to be, and fought far more often. Both parties realised this, and decided to go separate ways on good terms. Although her parents got off easily, Jade was torn apart by this sudden turn of events. Not being able to share her thoughts with the both of them, and feel the love of a family, she turned even more blue and mellow than usual, even picking up a general sense of pessimism. She tried to keep hidden for others, smiling more often and trying to keep a positive disposition, but being a fairly uncharismatic pony, she wasn’t always successful at hiding her negativity. Because of this she drove away many of the few friends that she had.

Spending most of the days she wasn’t at the academy at her father’s new place, she started a new project with him. Together they magically crafted one out that, to their surprise, did not bend and focus light, but magical force. This invention was rather unique, but also quite dangerous. Her father, who sought more fame and fortune, wanted to sell it, and it’s patent to other unicorns. Although he claimed it was ‘for the greater good’, she knew that many of the unicorns would not do good at all when they got their hooves on this. She defied her father, causing him to curse her and hate her.

She named her invention ‘the Focus’, made it into an amulet that she would be able to wear around her neck and decided to keep it a secret for now, not sure what evil-minded unicorns would do to take it from her.

(for her lack of a better picture, imagine something like this:http://www.growinggu.../dawnamulet.png)

Not long after creating the focus, the events of the start of the roleplay happened, and she was imprisoned. Her amulet was taken from her, and she felt broken and betrayed by her own kind. She wasn’t sure what had happened, but she feared her father had used his influence to cause this upon her. She grew sorrowful, but she still had hope that she would be released and justice would be served. She didn’t want vengeance however. She just wanted to be reminded that good ponies also exist, because the harsh world of academic competition had left the impression on her that nopony was to be trusted, because anypony would stab another in the back to get better from it himself.

Cutie Mark and what it means:

An eye with two magic rays, representing her talent with analysing, researching and manipulating magic and magical energy.

Any special Skills or Knowledge:

Jade is very knowledgeable. Though it is only book-smarts, and she has very little experience in the world, she will know various aspects of the world’s lore which might help her solve the problems that she will be up against. These are usually specific details, since anything that would be regarded mundane would be lost upon her since she spent little of her time traversing the world.

Jade knows a few basic combat spells, and can teleport short distances once every hour without completely exhausting herself. Of course she can levitate things and knows another few basic spells, but anything outside the realm of researching and analysing spells is not very powerful or amazing. Analysing and manipulating already-existing magical energy is something she is very good at however.

If jade were to find her magic focus again, she would be able to use it as well. Not many ponies can use it, since it follows very specific instructions and handling with care to work properly. With it her analysing, researching and manipulation spells become far more powerful, and she can virtually see magic with the naked eye through it.

Jade can craft certain pieces of magical equipment required for intricate research. She needs very specific components and a proper workplace for this however.

Profession:

Researcher and ‘magic scientist’. (I prefer to call it metaphysicist, but that’s not important )

Inventory:

She is not proficient with any weapon, so anything telekinesis controlled would do.

Magic: See Special skills or knowledge.

Strength: 6 (Jade is still quite young, and has barely had any physical training whatsoever. That combined with her petite stature make her awfully weak)

Dexterity: 8 (though she was awfully butterhooved to begin with, Jade had learned to be less of a screwup by working with het father, whose craft required a steady hoof and utmost delicacy. She still hasn't surpassed her clumsiness entirely however.

Faith: 1 (Jade has had little to no interest in religion. She has read about it, but she never bothered to extend her knowledge much further beyond the basics)

Intelligence: 19 (Jade is, quite simply put, brilliant. Her magic is mighty, and she will solve nearly any problem she is faced with)

Charisma: 8 (being slightly introverted and not having much experience with social contacts, Jade doesn't make a very sweet talker. She makes up for it slightly in appearance, but she rarely speaks anyway)

Vigor: 8 (same story as with strength. Small build, little exercise. She also lived quite a luxurious life, so she never really had to deal with pain. Even mentally she cannot take to much stress before collapsing)

Luck : 10 (Jade doesn't believe in luck :P)

Lower the intelligence to an acceptable level (less than 20). I'm pretty sure I was quite clear a few messages ago when I said explained why I hadn't made it a rule because I highly doubted anyone would go over 20. Like really, I thought we were past this. This is no longer a request, it is a rule.

Finally you put your foot down. It's done, tough still at the edge. I hope 19 is ok or it would defeat the entire point of the character.

I asked you multiple times to lower it and you wouldn't. The only way I could have been clearer was if I ordered you to do it, which is pretty much what you just made me do since you required me to make a rule instead of just politely lowering it. If I'm honest I do not appreciate the tone and wording of your post. You're coming off as rude and arrogant. At least you are to me.

While I'm at this, please post to Bloodlines. You are one of the most inactive players in that RP.

  • 2 weeks later...

last post on this was over a week ago. that being said is this roleplay still open? i had to scour to search for one that was interesting in the fantasy and combat elements with a story that was serious about itself and that had interesting concepts. i would be delighted if this was still active/open. i would like to apply with a character of mine.

Name: Phoenix

Race: Unicorn (if acceptable, i may include that he is partially phoenix blooded, a race of my own creation)

Age: mid 20s

Appearance: Blue mane with a light blue streak and an orange/gold coat with light blue eyes.

Backstory: kinda a mystery that i can use as a plot device, and unless a DM requires me to reveal it, i wont. also it changes alot. it's not really a solid thing i can define.

Cutie Mark and what it means: a phoenix to represent how he is skilled in fire magic

Any special Skills or Knowledge. he has a slight regenerative ability (phoenixes can rise from their own ashes and be reborn, and in my character that has evolved into healing slightly faster than everybody else, although he is not invincible, can be modified if DM does not like.)

Profession: none, simply an adventurer/traveler trying to discover things for himself.

Inventory: none

Preferred Starting weapon: Magic.

actually, i have changed my mind. i would not like to participate in this roleplay. sorry for that.

She herself did that. Sensory deprivation caused her to intentionally harm herself to feel and sense things. She could barely see or hear anything, and it was pretty darn cold down there, so she couldn't feel much either. Inflicting harm upon herself was the only way she could assure herself that she was still alive. In a way it kept her sane, but at the same time it's a symptom of insanity.

This is supposed to be a dark-ish rp right? I thought this would fit reasonably well :)
