What will happen to the brony fandom if FiM stopped being made?

I have no idea whether there is a confirmed last series.

It would be sad to see the fandom die but I don't think many of us would stick around here waiting for a new generation... Maybe?

(This was a quick thought I had so sorry if descriptive details aren't that great)

Nobody knows. I think once the show is over, people will leave. Only a handful of hardcore bronies will stay here. The golden age of the fandom is now, while the show is on. Once it's over, it won't be as big anymore.

This fandom is like Star Trek and Star Wars so, Yes the fandom is going to survive after the series/ generation is over with! It will just survive off of Fan-Made stuff!

Like other fandoms before it (Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc), I have a feeling that the FIM fandom will go on for a good long while even after the show ends. There will still be conventions and fan works to enjoy.

The fandom will likely shrink but it will still be here, also when Gen 4 ends if they start a Gen 5 MLP then they need to either come up with a way to make the art style better or keep it as similar to Gen 4 as possible, Gen 4 has a brilliant design in my opinion :P

season 6 has been confirmed, along with the feature length movie in 2017. not sure if there will be a 7th season though

The point you're making works but Doctor who and Star Wars aren't really over yet : P

Doctor who is still released regularly and a new star wars movie is in the works (and it had tonnes of books and whatnot). Also tonnes of star wars related games being released.

I don't know, season 5's controversial season opener might have brought more into the fold. That and the amount of revenue Hasbro is making off of bronies is unprecedented.

i think that there are a larger number of viewers this season so far per episode over last season, we know we wont have to worry about it until after 2017 "rumor is the 2017 movie will come out in the first quarter"

the fandom will decrease in number definitely. If there will be another generation of pony then you have to see how this fandom will react to it. A possible new generation could help:

1) to "eliminate" the fandom ( -_- ), as it remains disappointed and disinterested

2) keep alive the fandom

However, even if we don't consider a new generation, I think the number of members of the fandom will decrease significantly.

People will leave, the fandom will dwindle, and only a couple people will stick around. The fandom'll probably die out unless another MLP comes a long for the next generation to enjoy. Maybe we'll come back and share our experiences with the new kids.

I don't see there being a season seven, as I feel like the film will serve as the series finale. That is, unless season seven comes out next year, which will serve to lead up to the movie.

The fandom would definitely dwindle to a small number. There are people in this fandom who are only here for the show aspect and nothing more. But I think the fandom would still exist. I mean, look at Star Trek; the show has ended a long time ago, but the fandom is still strong from what I've heard. So I think bronies will exist for years to come.

as long as it stays strong and keeps making hasbro money i don't see them canceling it anytime soon, i expect them to ride the gravy train all the way to the end until people are sick of it or they ruin it  with bad writing somehow.

It's always weird, thinking of one of your favorite shows ending... But, knowing the fandom, I think it will survive, with all the art, parodies, fan-made stories, and roleplays, I don't have much of a doubt it will last.

The size limits on signatures is ridiculous...

Yes, the golden age will go once that happen, but I think the fandom itself might last a couple of decades at least. If there's still a fandom of older Star Trek series, Fim fandom can last that much too  ;)

Well, some people will definitely leave-but, that doesn't necessarily mean the fandom will die out.

I've seen series that have ended, but still have a pretty strong fandom.

Besides, I think it's a little early to start worrying about that-as others have pointed out Hasbro has stated they had plans to keep Friendship is Magic going for another five years, plus the movie they want to release in 2017.

The net would go boom in parts for one....

Two is a TON of fandom projects would bloom out in love of the fandom......

Also the three the fandom might dye off but it would keep rolling!

I sincerely hope that Hasbro, unlike Nickelodeon with SpongeBob, is smart enough to cancel the show when they realize that it's losing quality. Initially, bad writing was one of my major concerns when I first heard that new writers were being brought onto the show. That's one of the surefire ways to ruin your show. However, the episode "Castle Sweet Castle" seems to have proved me wrong. But we still have twenty-one episodes to go through, so there's a chance they'll write a bad episode.

My theory is that the show will start losing quality in the sixth season. It seems to be a rule in television that anytime a show goes past five seasons, the writing begins to lose quality.

Hopefully, Hasbro will be smart and end the series with the film. (You know, how SpongeBob was SUPPOSED to end). But you're probably right. If SpongeBob is anything to go by, this series will become yet another cash cow franchise for Hasbro (not like MLP is one already). Still, I'm holding out hope that the series will end with the film.

I think the older fandom would stay intact. As for the little kiddos that watch this, I think they might forget and move on. Later in life they will see FIM stuff on the internet and be like "Oh I remember watching that! I never knew it got canceled!" Then they will be sucked into the fandom once again. Because you can never leave. Nah. I don't know what would happen. The fandom would probably just diminish a bit but there would still be active people. This is just what I think, though.  :pinkie:

It will shrink a bit but from looking at other fandoms and their experiences after the show ends I believe the fandom is in no real danger from the show ending.
