ManaMinori 4,145 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 Do you buy secondhand clothing from places like Goodwill or other such stores? Do you have any thought (or reservations) on buying second-hand clothing from places such as these? Have you done so, yourself? CandyStrike 603 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I don't buy clothes from thrift stores. Mostly, because I can afford not to. Also, there is a bit of an ick factor not knowing who wore the clothing and what they did while in them. I wish I didn't feel this way, but I do. However, I love thrift stores because they are one of the places I can find pony toys for cheap!
Megas 27,748 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 (edited) I don't buy second hand clothes. However, I do buy things that interest me at thrift stores, basically game stuff and dvd sets. Heck I actually managed to get the Season 6 box set of DBZ for $10. Same store also had an AV cable for the Dreamcast, which I was missing for years Edited May 24, 2015 by Megas75
Guest May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 Love thrift stores for: music, games and many other things. I wouldn't shop at one for clothes but old classic stuff like game consoles and such. You can sometimes find really nice deals if your lucky.
Grepper 3,192 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I don't mind buying used clothing, as long as it gets washed. I usually go to thrift stores looking for electronic equipment, though.

You don't know who tried on whatever' on the rack, or if they took it home, then returned it, or what they might've did in it, if they did. Guest May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 There's a thrift-store near the college campus called Episode. I mostly go there for vintage baseball / football / basketball jackets.
Draxon 214 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I love thrift stores. I've only ever bought one article of clothing from a thrift store, and it was a lucky find, a really nice winter coat. I had it cleaned and taken in, and it's a really wonderful coat. Mostly, though, I buy records or the odd knick knack. Thrackerzod is best pony. iceestarz 5,765 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 (edited) I don't normally go to thrift stores but I do occasionally find something really nice. I got a couple pairs of athletic shorts for super cheap at goodwill and a really cute shirt. I also got some really cute stuff from Platos Closet last year. You gotta be careful about buying anything from a thrift shop. I always inspect every article of clothing before purchasing. Just in case of stains or holes or anything. I also check the quality of the item to ensure it lasts a while. Edited May 24, 2015 by Cupcakes14
The Awesome One 1,315 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 BUT SHIT IT WAS 99 CENTS! Buying used things is looked down upon in Pakistan. Even the poor are reluctant to buy 2nd hand things so there are no thrift stores here so I can't say anything about them. I will say that you could probably find some really nice things in one though.
Celtore 2,770 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 Thrift stores are awesome! I sometimes go to one of my local ones when I get the chance to do some salvaging for books, cooking stuff, electronics to dissect, but very rarely clothes. I wouldn't mind buying clothes from there, it's just that I kind of set a uniform for myself. I don't really need any clothes other than the odd gimmicky golf shirt or bathrobe when mine wears out. Sommar 1,289 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I'm surprised not that many people like thrift stores. I think they're awesome! Occasionally I like to scour Goodwill and see if there's any little interesting trinkets I could purchase. I rarely buy clothes there, because most of them either aren't my style or they aren't in good condition.
whitetiger187 197 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I'm with everyone else in not buying clothes but buying things. I always go to find collectables and such. There used to be a thrift store that I went to that I called my "lucky thrift store" because I would almost always find something Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers related in there each time I went. But then it closed down :/ I also build props and make films, and thrift store are great places to find nic-nacs for props and set decorations for cheap. Empty Room 512 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I go to them on occasion. It's almost always to buy CDs. "Have you ever felt the need to see more than you can see?"
IcyHaze 594 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 I've never bought clothing from one, though I know peole who have - usually just good quality stuff for low prices. I'd usually go to one for nifty gadgets, tools or electronics and whatnot though I hope some people get the joke ^^
ThatOneComrade 1,091 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 My mom would kill me if I ever bought clothes at the thrift store, but I do buy second-hand videogames, VHSs, and DVDs from them. href="/monthly_02_2014/post-8308-0-69609200-1393191794.png">
Guest May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 Hell I just found a copy of Conker's Bad Fur day at a store called trade it. You can bring used merchandise in and sell it for either in store credit or cash. Almost like a pawn shop except without guns. The game was going for 81$ but I put it on layaway so I can pay it off in increments. But truly a rare find because it is the first copy i have seen in years. Someone said they sold another copy for 120 $ the other day but it was in newer condition. simba86 1,541 May 24, 2015 Share May 24, 2015 everything I wear is either from a thrift store or military surplus, I don't buy much else from thrift stores anymore because I can literally buy it new for what they try and charge for used It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees! Thuja 3,659 May 25, 2015 Share May 25, 2015 I have a love-hate relationship with thrift stores, sometimes I like to go to them other times I'm like, "UGH do we seriously have to go here again?!"(in my head anyways) Though I get all my jeans at thrift stores, I've even found some cool shirts at a few.
pinkbubbles 57 June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 I usually find something at thrift stores. I have found so many treasures at thrift stores. My favorites are probably my sailor moon alarm clock, 2 andy warhol mugs, a japanese hello kitty tape player. I feel like there isn't anything wrong with buying clothes from a thrift shop as long as you wash them first. I managed to find a nice book shelf that was 60 dollars. It has a few scratches, but it's in good condition. I think it depends on where you go, what you find, and the condition it's in. You can find really good stuff at a thrift store.
Looking Glass 197 June 20, 2015 Share June 20, 2015 I like thrift stores, antique places, resale shops and the like, because I can always find something cool there. My parents own a resale/antique shop (not quite a thrift store, thrift stores are run by charities with donated items, but similar). Guest June 20, 2015 Share June 20, 2015 Funny you should mention this, I recently took my bike down to goodwill and picked up about 4-5 pairs of shorts for around $30, quite a deal, and got exactly what I was looking for even though it took a bit of looking around & trying on but isn't that always the case?
