White House video on JFK uses Spike edited picture by mistake

This is both hilarious and absolutely embarrassing that something like this would get through the cracks like a madman or axe-grinder over the White House fence. In the words of Ed Harris as Gene Kranz in the movie Apollo 13, "Tell me this isn't a government operation!"

I'm really interested in finding out just where in the hell such a picture came from.

Either no one noticed they used incorrect image or someone there is Brony.

I remember seeing this image before. There was once Brony who manipulated famous photographs by inserting MLPFIM characters into them. Numerous of them were considered distasteful. Some of this user's works included: young American soldier in Vietnam War carrying Apple Bloom, Rainbow Dash helping soldiers in Iwo Jima raise flag, Trixie posing with Hitler in front of Eiffel Tower (and some other Trixie and Hitler images), Rainbow Dash being present in raising of USSR flag on Reichstag, Luna taking place of Yuri Gagarin in spacesuit, Twilight shaking hands with Nixon, Apple Bloom being sad at JFK's funeral, etc.

Personally it was interesting to see some these images. However, I think it has been some years since user either deactivated Deviantart account or was banned or something. I don't remember his username as of now.

Edit: His username was davca.

Well, that's interesting. If this guy's goal was to get attention, he more than succeeded at that.

Did you see the Holocaust picture? :\

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the Reichstag one might be worse. The Holocaust, at least, is common knowledge. But the sheer barbarism the Soviets committed in Berlin is frighteningly ignored and even romanticized.

I believe act of attempting to make ethnicities extinct is far worse crime.

It is. My point was what we are aware of in modern society.

Everyone is aware of German war crimes, but soviet war crimes (especially in Berlin), are not very widely known.

The Holocaust picture, while in poor taste, at least portrayed the event in the right mood.

We shouldn't still be celebrating the rape of Berlin.

Same could be said for probably all countries. For example, American soldiers skinned Japanese soldiers, sometimes/oftentimes alive, decapitated them, boiled their heads, then send their skulls home to loved ones as trophies. But it is as expected. Nazis lost so their version of history is lost and whoever won will write their own versions of history.

But I will say that it is not celebration of rape, it is celebration of defeat of Nazism which I believe is well worth celebrating.

You make an interesting point. I may not entirely agree with your conclusion, but it is sad that so many atrocities went unnoticed.

I will agree on the notion that we should attempt to make history as neutral as possible... that is no countries downplays or denies their own atrocities that would rather be forgotten but must be remembered.

I thought that was really funny.

The government used a public search engine instead of digging into its own archives.

Yeah, they derped really bad over there  :derp:

Kind of ironic that the government uses photos without permission and then makes a big fuss about anybody else breaking copyright law... The only way I can see this happening is editors grabbing images from google, and not giving the creators credit for their work... Either that or the government has been hiding the portal to Equestria from us for several generations, in which case I WANT IN ON THAT!

Since that all government works are public domain, and the government has authority over the copyrights of US corporations (I guess), doesn't this mean Spike is now in the public domain?
