Is MLP overrated?

Nothing here is really explained at all. It sounds a lot less like 'the show is overrated' and more like 'this show is horrible and it sucks'.

 

As for your question, no, I do not think it is overrated, in fact I think it is one of the better cartoons out there, but that's my personal opinion on that. The morals are great, the animation is bright, colorful, and well done, the characters are vibrant and likeable and varied, the music is fantastic, the references sprinkled all throughout the show are an awesome touch, the atmosphere of the show is incredibly positive without being dumbed down, I can go on and on.

 

1. Because it's for little kids and they don't try to make it for all ages anymore.

 

2. Because they either rely on awful puns or the most cringeworthy "cute" stuff imaginable that isn't even remotely funny at all.

 

3. Because the writers have no idea how to tell a real story or how to write characters.

 

4. Because they all act like stereotypes and have one stock personality.

 

5. Because they're the same plots that have been done in every show ever, with no creativity to them at all.

 

6. Because it's symbol animation instead of real hand drawn animation and all of it looks really bad and moves unprofessionally. Not to mention that the characters are all recolors of one another with the exact same bodies, because they're that lazy.

I personally think MLP is about the same quality as something like Breadwinners, maybe slightly worse.

Are you comparing Breadwinners with MLP? Because that's like comparing day to night.

What does Breadwinners offer? Rape jokes, a lot of toilet humor, even by actual Nick standards, even more tasteless jokes, and horrible animation, which is some of the laziest animation I've ever seen.

 

Is MLP perfect? No. There are shows and things that I like more. But one thing is not liking the show, and other thing is to judge a show's humor so negatively when there are so many good episodes. In fact, I think that you are simply judging the bad episodes, and using it to define the whole show, which is a card-stacking fallacy, because you only select the bad part of the whole show, and use it to define it as a whole.

 

But with that said, everything I listed I'm 100% serious about and can back up.

 

I'm honestly interested to see how can you back up your arguments. Why do you believe that MLP is below shows like Breadwinners and TTG?

1. Because it's for little kids and they don't try to make it for all ages anymore.

 

Many episodes are here to dissagree, coming to my mind The Cutie Map, which presented a grey conflict.

You can like them or not, but they are far from cringeworthy.

Today's episode would like to have a few words with you. With such a simple start point, it presented one of the most powerful morals of the entire show.

Correction. MLP utilizes Flash animation, which allows to make many different complex forms with great level of detail.

I think the animation in MLP is about the same. And there's no rape joke in Breadwinners, I just looked that up and realized that you're apparently getting from Mr. Oversensitive Crybaby Who Doesn't Understand Anything He Watches himself, Mr. Enter, but I guarantee it's something blown out of proportion.

 

And I'm not saying Breadwinners is good, just that MLP is as bad.

No way, I think some of the most loved episodes and jokes are awful.

Correction. Symbol animation is a type of animation that can be done on Flash. There's no such thing as "Flash animation" as an animation-type, only as a program. You can do hand drawn animation on Flash, but MLP doesn't.

It does, but when you animate them with symbols, they move extremely poorly.

Agreed. Yeah,  teen titans go ! is quite a lovable show.

 

But again, I'd say that it is just a matter of opinion. I wouldn't say that MLP is a good show, I'd say it is a show I like.

 

No matter how convincing you are in your statesmen, I couldn't agree....since it's just a matter of opinion.

Haven't we been over this in the Twilight Sparkle thread I made a while ago? Your opinions are not objective facts. But with that said, everything I listed I'm 100% serious about and can back up.

 

Regular Show, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Teen Titans Go is a thousand times better than MLP, in my opinion.

MLP does not have an intelligent plot or motivating storyline, in anyway shape or form to me. If it actually did, I might like it.

 

But yes, I do love comedy and tend to like it more than anything else. I don't really think there's a problem with that.

I do see a number of episodes that likes to make key characters be dramatic to a point about something while most other ponies are normal. Take Lesson Zero for example, Twilight Sparkle never has gotten over that condition.

I happen to find MLP to be a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's a great show but some people act like the show is the solution to every problem ever.

Overreated? Eeyup, but then again you're coming onto a fan forum, of course it's going to be overrated here! Overall I love this show but will admit there are better shows out there, no problem, but MLP is still a great show to watch.

MLP and Breadwinners are about the same to me. TTG is an amazing and hilarious show, in my opinion, especially Season 2!!! Season 1 was awesome, but Season 2 is amazing. I think the shows main hate comes from it being different and that people don't give it a chance.

Is the show overrated: Yes, of course it is. Every show is adored by it's fan base to the point where they put it on a pedestal which it may only reach once or twice every season. This is especially present in large fandoms like ours. However, overrated doesn't mean that the show is bad, and i feel that that is the personal opinion you are trying to convey in this thread, you just titled it wrong was all. But, in the end, your opinion is your own and nothing we can say will change that. However, the same applies for you as anything you say won't affect any opinions of ours!

MLP and Breadwinners are quite different.  Breadwinners appears to be full of weirdness, randomness, and "butt jokes".  MLP at least is more mature and serious; its humor isn't tasteless and it doesn't have unfunny "fart jokes".
