gaming I fear the new FF7 remake is gonna be bad

I mean awful. Ever since after PS1 original FF7 game. (And its not really nostalgia taking over me. Due to i played it too late. I never heard of it til i heard of the Final Fantasy: Advent Children movie. It was a gameplay footage on the bonus disc so i decided to try it.). Although my first impression was how shitty the graphics where. But after playing it for awhile i started to really enjoy the game.It was mostly the awesome summonings that i liked "Bahamut" being my favorite. So i leveled so much up on those monsters.

Its due to how melodramatic it has become. Maybe its thanks to Squaresoft changing to "Sqaure Enix" after the last good game called Final Fantasy 10. Then it might be reasons to why they spices it up, even though it makes no sense and is working more like a historical drama without making any sense.

But its more the fact that i just... really really hope they don't make it melodramatic. I mean please for god's sake don't make tears flow forth. I saw that horrible stuff in Crisis Core in the ending. When Zack apparently (Lifestream afterlife not canon) was taken by angels. And it wasn't about saving Cloud ('cause they are friends. Only reason) and just start its own terrorist organization after being chased by Shinra soldiers. Well that wasn't canon so lets make it melodramatic and eyewashy with SOLDIER HONOR nonsense.

Its this type of stuff that i am worried about. Either way. I think it was great how mythological and philosophical aspects was sorta in the background. While the game was just kicking and beatin' for being awesome on PS1.

Sure there's gonna be some mechanic changes, but the story should be exactly the same. What you got in FF7, you'll get in the remake. They're even leaving in the crossdressing, lol.

Edit: and you're right, 10 was the last good single player FF. My entire life hinged around that game, back when I was 16 and the game came out. I will say, though, that the FF MMO is pretty god damn good. It's a shame more people aren't playing it, and they're still stuck on that freaking World of Warcraft. I loved WoW too, back in its golden era, but FF XIV is in its golden era now, and it deserves more attention.

It'll suck if they go all Advent Children on it

Otherwise I'm gonna stay cautiously optimistic on it

i think core story would be the same albeit slighty altered

story telling would go up avastly

it used to be you just read the text boxes

now we will see emotions on the faces and they get voices

what im worried is the gameplay

i doubt they will retain the turn based combat

maybe theyll use the same gameplay as  XIV

hope they come up with a satisfying mechanics for this one

They've already said they were going to update the story and gameplay both but there will be no new party members. I imagine this partially means they'll make Vincent and/or Yuffie required to get instead of them being side characters.

People are going to hold onto the old game too hard for the new one to actually be good in their eyes. It's still going to sell big bookoo bucks though. People like me will enjoy it regardless. I'd actually say I'll enjoy it more if they change more of it.

The fact they said they're going to overhaul everything but who the characters are, already makes me think it's going to fail, and the fanboys are going to cry waterfalls.

I know FFVII gets all the hype, but can we please get an updated FFVI release? 6 was the best Final Fantasy, it had the most mold-breaking story, and the most interesting mechanics for upgrades.

FFVII will be good, it just will, but people obsessed with nostalgia will say it's not good ENOUGH, which is what will make everyone salty.

I'm honestly more excited by World of Final Fantasy than the FFVII Remake. I feel it's time was in the PS1, and there's no way a Remake will deliver the same impact the original did. Even people who didn't played it know many of it's plot elements, namely Aerith's death, Sephiroth stuff, etc, etc, etc

I hope they leave the entire story intact. That even goes for Aerith's death. As much as I cried when Aerith died, changing it so she lives would make me feel like I got cheated, just like how I felt when Lufia DS retconned Maxim and Selan's deaths.

That said, I'm sure as long as they don't go Final Fantasy movie on me, I'm fine (I couldn't even make out the plot, something about space and maybe aliens or something).

I think it'll be pretty good, since most things are going to stay the same. And like someone earlier said, the crossdressing will remain. I can already see that being a golden nugget in the remake. XD

Anyways, the game won't be good if you approach it that way. Just give it a try with an open mind and see how it goes. It's a normal tendency people have with remakes.

They should keep Aeris. I am not a lisp speaker so i am ok with Aeris (Its a joke, since its what it sounds like when you add the "th"sound at the end.) I mean i am no fan of FF6, but imagine if someone was like "Lets change Terra to Tina" The canocal name. Or Ash Ketchum to Satoshi. Just because its the canocal name? I can blame the awful Kingdom Hearts series for it, i think its they who felt the need to change it.

She was the greatest healer on the team. So i liked her easily in the beginning when i played it on PS1. Really pain in the flank that she couldn't stay all the way through though, i was like AAAh nooooo!

i prefer aeris too cause thats her name when i was playing ff7 when i was a kid

kingdom hearts has nothing to do here

its has always been aerith

thats why they used it in related titles

Fear not! Testuya Nomura is the one leading the remake and he was the one behind the original FF7, so I am cautiously optimistic for this one. I just wish it wasn't timed exclusive to PS4.  :okiedokielokie:  It obviously is going to be different in certain aspects because of the massive change in the graphics and whatnot.

*Bit of a spoiler to a part in FF7*

I just wonder how they are going to do the whole 'Cloud disguising himself as a girl' part in the remake.  :dash:

I hate FF7 anyways, so I'm not terribly worried about it. To be fair, I played it when it came out, and at the time I was quite young, but

Aerith dying traumatized me as a kid. (does that even need a spoiler?

Basically, I have no hopes of it being good, and I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. If that's not the case, fine.

I don't quite agree. I think most of the thanks should go to "Yoshinori Kitase".

I just have a tad feeling that Tetsuya is wubbing the emotional part of the game in general(Just look at Kingdom Hearts). So having him in the lead kinda worries me a bit since he's the one who got all the glory in the Kingdom Hearts series.

Edit: So i just found out now.

Here is the original Producer, director and writer of FF7 in 1997

Producer(s) Hironobu Sakaguchi

Director(s) Yoshinori Kitase

Writer(s) Kazushige Nojima

Ok. Looking good so far, now lets see who is in charge of the remake?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshinori_Kitase#Works

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetsuya_Nomura#Works

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazushige_Nojima#Works

Yoshinori Kitase TBD Final Fantasy VII PlayStation 4 Producer

Tetsuya Nomura Final Fantasy VII Remake TBA PlayStation 4

Director, main character design.

Kazushige Nojima Final Fantasy VII Remake (TBA; as Scenario Writer)

Ok... We're doomed

And I didn't know that Hironobu Sakaguchi was the one who was in charge of most of the old Final Fantasy games, and then Yoshinori Kitase came along at FF5 as a writer i think, then became more involved later on in FF6. Which worked well til the last good FF game was made called FF10. But i found this hilarious vid on it.

I wouldn't judge anything about it just yet...

It's probably, like, 5 years from now until it'll be done knowing how SE is with their FF games :P

Actually the only game that's taken a very long amount of time to come out is FFXV. Most of them were out not long after their announcement.

How are there even spoilers for FF7 at this point? It's nearly 20 years old...I'm sure everyone and their dog knows what goes on in the game, unless that's all been buried under the fanwanks over Cloud and Sephiroth...one of which is probably the worst character in the game.

And yeah, where is the love for FF6? 4 got two remakes, a sequel, and a remake of the sequel. One has had like 4 or 5 remakes. 7 has had I dunno how many spin off games to expand on the story, and a damn movie sequel. Not to mention the amount of fan pandering 7 and 8 got in the Kingdom Hearts series...

After playing some Crisis Core (and having played Dirge of Cerberus and seen Advent Children) I have little doubt that the remake will be pretty good. FFVII itself was pretty meh but they've changed so much for the better that if the remake takes any influences from the side games and movie it will be pretty good.

Too me it will be bad since it based off to me on of the worst RPG of all time and the beginning of the end for FF with FF13 being the final nail in the coffin.
