Is there anything you want to say but don't because it ticks off the fandom?

No, darling, I don't, since I am not afraid of the fandom. In fact, it's the opposite, when asked I'll spew my corrosive acid that are my opinions at them without mercy.

I'll gladly tell them that I think Early G3 is superior to nearly anything FiM coughed up since Season 2.

I'll happily point out how they completely butchered the characters we loved, turned Pinkie into an obnoxious Looney Toons machine, Twilight into a MacGuffin on four legs, Rarity into a manipulative harlot, Spike into a complete idiot whose only purpose is to mess things up and then disappear, Rainbow Dash into a total jerk, Fluttershy into a Jackyl/Hide style plot device, and how they made a Special Forces Team out of characters that'd make the worst heroes with mere Deus Ex Machinas.

I'd tell tales of how the show turned from an educational, intelligent and relatable series into a complete sellout intended to milk a children and a zombie horde.

And in the end, I'd say how much ripe potential is being wasted by amateurs who think quantity over quality is the best method.

  • Just because a video (or any form of media) is related to ponies does not automatically make it good. Oh look, it's a video with the word "ponies" on it. That means it's a good video by default.
  • "Pony" is not a genre of music, and it never will be.
  • My Little Dashie is not that good.
  • Slice of Life is rather mediocre.

i dont like that most of the fandom thinks nowacking is the only deserving vinyl scratch voice

I agree with you on that one. I was worried that I'd hear a voice like hers in Slice Of Life.

Let's see... List time

1.) At time I hate being a Brony for personal reasons

2.) Hey, you know how Derpy talked in "The Last Round Up," No ONE FUCKING GIVES A SHIT. It was an APPLEJACK episode, not a background pony episode

3.) Don't even, I know what you're thinking. APPLEJACK IS NOT A BACKGROUND PONY! Listen up, when you call her a background pony, you're being nothing but a prick. This goes for anyone in the fandom. All you do is cause onflict just to cause conflict. So people have more than a petty show to be worried about. Mature or something, it's pathetic and maybe my most hated thing about this fandom

4.) The irony of how this fandom is all about friendship and how little we love and tolerate. Addendum; how poorly some of us treat each other.

5.) How easily butthurt this fandom is

(BACK TO THE SHOW)

6. I don't like how the purple and green shrimp is treated.

7. I am not a fan of the CMC

8. Thanks M.A Larson... Thanks! YES! THANK YOU!

9. I hate everything Merriwether Williams has done for this show minus Wonderbolts Academy and Hearth's Warming Eve and they still weren't that great.

10. Derpy, not a Depry fan. Good character but I hate how the fandom treats her soooo, know Derpy love from me

11. I like Diamond Tiara

12. I hate Bulk Biceps

13. I think Rarity is least fav mane six. (FIght me)

14. In my opinion, the best 25 writers on this website could do better than Merriwether Williams

15. If it's canon, don't tell me differently

16. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THE LESBIAN PAIRINGS. YOU KNOW HOW MUCH OF THE POPULATION IS LESBIAN OR GAY IN AMERICA. LIKE ONE OR TWO PERCENT. LYRA AND BON BON, THERE DONE, THAT'S YOUR LESBIAN COUPLE

17. Disrespect. Nothing more to say, it's pretty obvious

5 - 5000 complaints later

1043. I think an Applejack's parents death episode would be beneficial to ALL KIDS

(Oh yeah, and Cadence is Best Pony. Brohoof for a Cadence/Shining Armor Spinoff)

Got another one. Not really a critique, but more something that confuses me.

I never understood fans of the fandom, or fans that don't watch the show (anymore) and just stay for the fan content. For me, this is the equivalent of going to the movie theater, just so you can eat the bland Popcorn.

They can prefer the fan content to the actual show.

Plus fan content includes music, art, fanfic etc., which is something different from 20 minutes episodes. Maybe they don't like the show anymore, but like some brony artists.

1) Rainbow Rocks single handedly makes Equestria Girls good, it's just that awesome.

2) Whilst it isn't BAD, people are right in saying that season 3 is the worst season.

3) Season 1 is ridiculously overrated. Look at its episodes objectively and you'll see

4) There needs to be a Celestia episode, not more Luna, although Luna is cool.

5) I want a character (namely Spike) to die

6) Season 5 is going great so far and is far from the worst season.

7) I want the show to die after season 6, EG 4 and the movie. This way it dies with dignity, and we get to see an all new, fresh G5 more quickly.

8) Slice of life is neither good nor bad, just meh

9) Side characters like Mr and Mrs Cake, Cheerilee, DT and SS, Snips and Snails, Twist and Big Mac need more attention, whilst after episode 100 background ponies need less.

10) I want songs to be less common.

11) The fandom is not dying, just evolving. Naysayers are seriously getting annoying. If you hate what everything has become, just leave.

12) The Steven Universe fandom and Bronies can co-exist happily and even get on.

13) What happened 1000 years ago even needs to be cleared up bigtime, or just ignored before it gets more convoluted. Same with Cutie Marks

14) I like Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000

15) Lauren is overrated, Larson is underrated.

16) Digi, Tommy and the like were at least party right and certainly not to blame or at fault for leaving.

Fallout Equestria is a horrible story, its main character is the biggest mary-sue OC character ever made and the fandom blindly goes nuts over it

I can understand some of the appeal and there is certainly some good fandom stuff. BUT, the good fandom stuff is not the majority, which is not bad. It's just sturgeons law.

If i look around the music department, i maybe get something like Lullaby for a princess from time to time. But i have to dig through the thousands of dubstep remixes first.

If i look around the fanfic department, i maybe get a well thoughtout story like Asylum from time to time. But i have to dig through the thousands of shipfics first.

Don't get me wrong. I love this fandom and i like the guys who are in it. I met so many great guys here. But i think we like to pet ourself on the back a bit too much.

My gosh, Fluttershy's cute but calm down. You don't need to smother me each time she makes a cute face.

Derpy's a background pony. Why is she so special? Why don't people like Berry Punch? Or random train conductor? Or that old guy at the funeral? Why is Derpy so special?! Why is she the mailmare in EVERY DIDLY-DARN FANFIC?! WHY?!

Analysis is fine until people start taking everything one person says as fact and start to shove that person's ideology down your throat. I don't care if this person doesn't like alicorn Twilight. I don't care if they don't like alicorn OCs. I don't care if they don't like how RD acted in an episode. I don't care if they hate the color green. I don't care, I'll do what I want.

I don't like Doctor Hooves he sucks and is really annoying. I have the same problem with him as I do "I just don't know what went wrong" Derpy, and all the background ponies, actually. His defining trait in our stories is: "wow I can do time and space look at me I'm smart." Vinyl's always like "WUBWUBWUB I'm gonna shout loudly!" Octavia's basically "I'm old fashioned and pompous and I can't see past my ego teach me how to love vinyl because we're both musicians" And then Bonbon and Lyra are always together. Why?!

So yeah I have a bone to pic with the fanfic authors. Which is stupid because I'm a terrible writer.

the pony generator. too many people are making these mary sue ocs and putting them on the internet. some people even ask for a name. they ask for a name! for their ORIGINAL character. im sorry but if you haven't to think of the smallest details about your oc then you shouldn't be using the pony generator. personality should come before looks.

No, but I'll say it anyway.

If you haven't liked an episode after season 1, leave. Its not going to change, its not going to match up to your deluded nostalgia goggles of the first season, and you constantly bitching like you are actually entitled to something is annoying as fuck. Grow up and move on if you don't like it anymore, that is what a normal rational human being does. You standing there and whining about the good old days isn't going to fix anything and its ruining the fun for the rest of us who actually like the direction the show is going. Nobody likes a hipster. I repeat, if you no longer find the show enjoyable, leave.

To the White knights of the fandom: Shut up. People enjoy this show in different ways, some of those ways include shipping and grimdark among other things. If you have a problem with those things, then don't look at them, don't interact with them, and quit being a little ass by trying to shame the people who are just having some harmless fun. All you have to do is say "that is not for me, I'm not interested in that kind of thing, ect" and that's it! You don't need to go on a witch hunt for ever cupcakes wannabe or decry the next new ship just because you don't like it. EVEN The Fiery Flippin Joker is just joking around when he says "shippers destroy lives"

To the bronies of the youtube comment section: If you have gone out of your way to flame a youtuber for having an opinion that is different from your own, shame on you. There is a reason people like Tommy Oliver left the way he did, and that is because people like that were flaming his channel day in and day out. They see these comments, they flood their inbox, one hateful thing after another, and you wonder why some of them snap and cuss and quit their youtube job and burn all bridges. I don't hold it against tommy because If I was getting that level of hate from every little @$#$$ with a keyboard I'd probably not handle it any better. His vids were not all that, and I didn't really watch him all that often, and he definitely should of left more gracefully than he did, but I got where he was coming from.

Not everyone needs to agree with the majority people, not everyone needs to interpret the show in the same way or talk about the same things as everyone else. Its attitudes like that that are turning the "analyst" community into a homogeneous collection of yes men afraid to speak their mind. Now note this does not contradict my first point. You can have differing opinions on specific episodes and still enjoy the show as a whole, but if you are just condemning an episode merely because it was aired after Faust left then please let the door hit you on the way out, because you aren't a fan of the show, you are a fan of your own hipster entitlement mentality.

No, I speak my mind and while I am not perfect and have lost my temper in the past I do speak my mind.

Well, I'll grant it's not really the majority, but it's a lot more prevalent than I thought. I've been part of the Harry Potter fandom online, and it wasn't out in the open and accepted like this.

As a clopper myself I can tell you that the reason why it is such a big deal is because so many both in and outside  the fandom have been so quick to make a big deal out of it by trying to scapegoat people who partake in it. If you get people who jump on people for doing that than you are going to get situations like what you described. If someone disrespected you and over reacted than I am indeed sorry to hear that but it is true though that there are white knights in this fandom, more in this one than any other one I have been in and it honestly baffles me as to why that is the case.

I can of course understand the frustration of people who don't want to see that stuff googling it on "safe search" and finding out that it despite its name it isn't really "safe" but many of these people miss the point that it is a problem with google/the internet in general. I am in favor of making sure things are properly tagged and placed where they belong and not where they don't both out of respect for people that don't want to see that stuff and the fact that I want to see some of that.

Simply put I think there needs to be mutual respect, those who aren't into R34 should respect those who are even if they may not agree with it or even like them by not turning them into scapegoats and those who are into it needs to respect those who aren't by properly tagging things and only posting this stuff where it is allowed/welcome.

Many apologies to those who have already posted, but I'm putting the kibosh on this thread. Topics of this sort historically have led to fights and unnecessary drama. Even with the oft repeated proviso that this is a safe place to air out unpopular opinions, eventually someone has their feelings hurt or decides to lash out. That's why the Unpopular Opinions thread was closed a while back.

Remember, it's usually more productive to frame a topic in the positive rather than the negative. Respectful disagreements typically bear themselves in organic discussion. But asking why people hate/dislike something is perceived as an open invitation by some to rag others.

And that's all I've got to say 'bout that.
