When is the mating season for ponies

Seeing how humanized they are, I'd say "always".

They still include a lot of realistic horse behaviors/body language, going by what I read on TVTropes. So I guess it'd match up with real pony mating season, whenever that is.

I assume the ponies in FiM have no particular mating season, they probably just do that when two consenting ponies want to or as it is said, 'when the time is right'. So pretty standard stuff I assume. Unless the almighty Celestia decides this. :P

I don't they have one, since they are sapient minded beings like us humans.

However, in certain fan fictions they can go into heat.

We don't know, it could be all year round or it could be a heat thing that happens once or twice evrey year like equines in the real world. Only way to really know is to go ask Mrs Cake, as she seems to be the only mare in Poniville to get pregnant (till Cadance does).

Yeah i wonder how the episode will go like if they decided to make one where a pony is pregnant and is going to give birth to a filly or a colt. I doubt it would be like the traditional way of an animal where you just lay to the side and push it out. They'd probably go to the hospital and give birth there. Modern medicine and that stuff.

Yea, thats what happened with the cakes. We saw them for the first time in the hospital nursary and, i belive, it was said that Mrs Cake was resting, so my guess is they give birth like humans would within the hospital.

Well i guess in someway. But i guess for a pony it would be better to lay to the side, while humans its more ok lying on the back. But other than that it seems to work the same way ^ _ ^

It happens during the third day of the third month at 3:33. Why? Because. There are three sides to a triangle. And that means... ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED.

Real female horses typically are in heat in greater frequency through spring. This is not a phenomenon to which humans can relate.
