Can girls be bronies?

Yes a person, by a mass opinion can call themselves whatever in this world they want. You can call yourself a 'Girl' And be a 'Bronie / Brony'. It doesn't depend on which gender you are. Like people with boats, most people call them a 'her'. Most other people call them a 'him'. Though, whichever rolls of the tongue best is most preferred.

I find that the word Pegasister is rather self indulget to the most feminine, of the 'Fandom' of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Or whatever the hell we want to call it.

Though if you want to be selective you can even choose the reason why they are here. Artwork could get you called Pegasister, not declaring gender could make you a Brony. Writing, Pegasister, Artwork (I am aware i said this.) Brony. The list goes on. But to cut this to a short.

If you are, say a 'Feminine' being, Feminine meaning you are, as most of the most Masculine would say, 'Womanish' (This is just me.) You can call yourself a, 'Pegasister', or something along that line, what you prefer. And if you are Masculine you can be called a, if you wish 'Brony' Then again, be whatever you want. Your able to think fully intellectually, aren't you? Well?

And besides, aren't we all sort of Pegasisters? This show has mainly female characters, themes and the like. Then again aren't we all sort of Bronies? We appreciate the animation, the story, besides, who doesn't like the opposite gender a bit? If you answered homosexual you are wrong, they like the opposite gender as friends.

I'm a girl and tend to call myself a "brony" over "pegasister", as it just seems more natural to me for fans to have the same name rather than dividing it over gender. But if other girls (or guys) would rather call themselves a pegasister, or just not use a fan name at all, then of course that's totally fine too! As others have said, it's up to you and no one else what you want to call yourself - no one should have labels they don't want forced on them. We're all fans here regardless of what we call ourselves :squee:

Well, pseudo-officially the term "brony," has been adopted for the male portion of the fandom, while "pegasister" is a general term for the female portion. Of course official designations have little to no power over your preferences of title outside of a courtroom or legal document.

So... Unless being a brony or pegasister becomes a legal title anytime soon, you're free to adopt any label you want.

Illusion Magic is a lot like lying. You can convince the opposing party that you are capable of truly wonderful things and take advantage of their preferences. Of course, people are liable to lose their patience quickly when they see through the smoke and mirrors, especially the actual wizards.

You Are Welcome Fluttercord36 Even though that name makes only half sense because you have a Rainbow Dash picture.

Well, my favorite pony is Dash, while my favorite shipping is fluttercord. :)

Absolutely, girls are bronies, too! "Brony" is a unisex and age-neutral title and should be treated as such.

I'm a male, but I'll answer this, too. I LOATHE the term "pegasister." Unlike "brony," "pegasister" is conceived to be for female FIM fans only and is based on the misogynist lie that "brony" is male-centric.

No, Dark Qiviut, it's hardly misogynist. "Pegasister" is simply a nickname coined by female fans who'd rather not address each other as "bros". Yes, technically, "Bronies" can refer to both male and female fans collectively, but most people will see "bro" and assume it only refers to us guys. Because of this, it is not uncommon to address Bronies as "Bronies and Pegasisters", as it serves to clear away any confusion (and is about as sexist as saying "Ladies and gentlemen..."). Either way works. It's just a matter of context and/or preference. In short, the term "Pegasister" is basically a nickname of a nickname. You could even argue that male fans are left out of having that extra level of affiliation.

Brony or Pegasister? It doesn't really matter. Both like the same show so who care if you call girls bronies. Even though people associate the word "bro" with guys, it's just a word. Call them whatever they want to be called.

I don't suppose there is any problem with it. They can be called what they want! Like I prefer calling myself a fan rather than Brony or Pegasister. I guess it is up to the person themself.

Brony? Pegasister? Just words! Call yourself whatever you want. B)

As for me? I personally prefer the term "brony" over "pegasister", so I assure you, you are not alone.

Boooooo get off the stage!

I always thought the term brony specifically meant a male FiM fan.  That's why I don't call myself a brony.

But I understand that is not everyone's definition of the word.  So I don't have a problem if people use it differently than as I think of it.
