Opinions on the Pony Maker?

I usually like to have my design set out before I head into pony maker. The tool is very useful for developing colour schemes, but it shouldn't really be a starting point. Your mind can come up with so much more!

so...does anypony know how to make a better Pony Creator with a little more freedom?

That's the thing--its impossible to get every possible style of mane, eye, pattern, etc into one flash game. Its better to just design it yourself, if you really want it to be 100% your own. :) Or ask an artist to help you out along the way, if you have desig troubles. I LOVE designing ponies, so if anyone needs help, you can ask me!

Still, a good first step to improving pony maker would be to seperate bangs from the rest of the hair, just to create a little more potential variety, and maybe adding a fre more nice looking hairstyles, eye styles, and other facial customizations like duo-colour eyes (like AppleBloom's orange and yellow eyes) or birth marks.

Need help with your OC? I'd love to assist you! Just visit my help thread. It's always open, so don't be shy!

Well, the Pony Maker could be used to be, i dunno some kind of basic color base for your oc. it could be used to how what color could match with another. as for design. it's too limited.

I believe that every1 can draw (trust me i can't draw stuff[even elementary school kid had better drawings than mine] until i practiced drawing everyday)
now i can draw, but still need A LOT OF Improvement.
from uglier than elementary to this

not finished yet >.<

just practice everyday, don't lose hope
but the most important thing is to
HAVE FUN

without that, learning how to draw is just pointless
don't get frustated

I can't draw...willing to learn. The thing is...I have so many ideas for OCs. The Pony Maker is perfect for drafting out those ideas.

I'm sorry, but the "drawing pony anatomy incorrectly" part made me giggle. Have you seen a real pony? Because what FiM shows you is nothing like the actual equine anatomy... And believe me, drawing simplified, cartoony characters incorrectly is not a crime (or a bad habit, as the chart implies). Is it even possible to draw them incorrectly? Come on, their anatomy is pretty messed up already!

People really need to quit being so snobbish about it.

My point exactly!

Actually, on the contrary, I'm certain that it has brought money to commissioners. For example, I had no idea what I was looking for in my OC/ponysona, and without Pony Creator I would have never had any way of finding what worked for me. I've commissioned one person, and guess what? Without Pony Creator they would have never gotten any commission from me because I would have never known what I wanted.

THIS! I always ask my customers for visual references when I do commissions. Sometimes they don't know what they want or they simply can't describe their vision clearly... this may lead to misunderstandings and dissatisfaction on the customer's part. Pony Creator images come in handy and help make things clear!
