You can't really go in to this in a TVY cartoon.  Most fan fics assume either 9 months (as Heinlein put it ..."for either a cow or a countess although new mothers have been known to rush this") or 11 months (IRL the time for horses).  Some fics assume the power of love can give 2 ponies a baby if they love each other VERY much.  For example, the Winnerverse story The Incredibly Embarrassing Parents of Rainbow Dash.  It is considered very romantic by ponies like Rarity.
