Would you nerf an OP Pony in order to beat them? Note the overpowered ponies don't know they got nerfed.

 

Let's say for example you challenge Applejack to a hoof wrestling match. But she's totally overpowered and you a mere underpowered human can't ever hope to defeat her.

 

However, one day Discord gives a magical item that allows you to temporally nerf a pony's power. So, this time you stand a fair chance, if not an outright easy win depending on how much you nerf her powers. 

 

Said magical item could even be used to nerf Rainbow Dash, so that you a mere human could beat her in a race.

 

The nerfing power is so great you could even beat Big Macintosh in a wrestling match. Even the almighty overpowered alicorns would fall before the power of the nerf.

The questions are real. That said, I voted no. I would not nerf the ponies to make up for my shortcomings.

Nah, I rather not. If I do, I'm afraid I'll hurt their feelings by beating them in a arm wrestling. (Not sure if emotions has to do with this topic, but hey, it could happen).

I'd probably avoid nerfing them, and find a way to equal their abilities. I prefer a fair challenge. They all have their own form of magic, but we have technology! Hoof wrestling Applejack with bionic enhancements would be cool, but wrestling Big Mac in power armor would be even cooler!

No. That would be cheating. I would rather lose then to cheat using magic. Which is a dangerous entity at times that can cause endless harm to the pony in question. "It's best to be you rather than trying to be something your not"

Think it depends on the situation, like pretty much everything. It boils down to, would you use "unfair" means to overpower another; if overpowering them is moral or for a good cause, somehow, it is a positive thing. If overpowering them is for the sake of showing off or self-gain, then there's an issue there.

Yea, I would. An OP pony would probably have moves that deal too much damage. They would have a really good perfect pivot, have great range, insane knockback, a lot of true combos, etc. I would nerf them by reducing the damage by 2% or 3%. I'd nerf the perfect pivot, make some of the range shorter, and reducing knockback. I would nerf some of the true combos by making it so that the opponent can DI out of some of their moves easier, allowing them to escape, making the combo untrue.

If I were to battle an OP pony, then I would nerf them with such item. But not overly so. I'd only decrease their power to about mine, probably slightly better than mine, so we're about evenly matched and it's a fair fight. That way, it's a true fight to know who can use their abilities better, and who is more strategic.

I enjoy competition, and I also enjoy facing off against people far out of my league. I need people who are better than me to make me have any drive of improving, and I never cheat in actual competitions.

 

Honestly, I only like being OP in single player video games, IRL, or in any competition, I only want to win for real or it would be meaningless.
