Daring Do or Indiana Jones

Ok, yea that is true. Did you know Lucas and Spielberg went through dozens of hats and outfits for the character until they found the right one because they wanted the character to be recognizable just be his silhouette. Also, yes DD has potential to be a great character. Not greater to me because Indy is one of my heroes and favorite fictional characters of all time, but maybe greater for some people. The trick is to give her characteristics that people can relate to that Indy doesn't have, and they are already on their way to doing that.

Dozens of hats and outfits huh? Well they did good, the silhouette is so recognizable Ill never forget it. As for DD, I do hope she'll get development and traits that Indy doesn't to make her similar yet different from him.

Also, thanks for taking the time to talk, I appreciate the feedback.

Ya, Indy has had 4 movies, a TV show (that didn't do well), and some books to develop his personality and backstory. DD has has a couple episodes that don't go too in depth and some a couple books? She just needs some more time.

Exactly. Hopefully she'll make a surprise entrance in season 6.

Gee, I don't know. Should I pick the timeless iconic character who made a landmark in film history, or a two-dimensional side character from MLP who wouldn't even exist without the aforementioned character?

Who do you think is 20% cooler?

...Seriously?

To be fair, though, the TV show was meant to be educational... Which I guess gives it some excuse for being so boring compared to the movies. At least it's heavy on expanding on Indy's canon backstory.

As this is comparing a show character to a non-show character, and not directly discussing the show itself, this is looking like a Sugarcube Corner topic rather than a Show Discussion topic. So off it goes! :)

I'm gonna pick Indy but not because of the guy himself but for his father

...I said "especially the 2nd movie". I didn't say the 1st and 3rd were immune. The 4th is okay (probably due to being made in the 21st century), but seeing as the 4th's generally agreed to be not very good...

And her character absolutely is sexist.

How? How is she sexist? You've yet to provide any evidence for that.

Also, that short vid is hilarious.

Ok everyone, refrain from talking about this already. This topic is about Daring and Indy. If you wanna debate about that, start another thread. Edited by WindRide

I fail to see how Indy’s shallow, ponified copy hailing from an extremely family friendly TV show can be better than the original. She has so much plot armor it makes anything she does boring and predictable. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t tackle friendship problems where such things are expected and forgiven. So go back to your children’s books DD, and come back once you snatch an artefact from R’neigh, Necroponis, or some other random, ponified, badass location with: all plot armor reduced by 30%.
