What could be the Species of Cadence's Child/en

Cadance's child will probably be a female alicorn for the purpose of selling toys to the target audience, regardless of the fact that Cadance was born a pegasus, and Shining Armor a unicorn.

 

I know that, that will be the problem reason if the child is a Alicorn, but I'm trying to ascertain a more lore acceptable answer which may inadvertently explain Luna and Celestia as well.

The one major benefit to the kid being born an alicorn is that it could give the show another chance to delve deeper into alicorn lore. Perhaps it may crush some head canons in the process though.

True, but we are talking about a cartoon show filled with magical talking ponies, and it is not like that their fictitious world operates under the same scientific principles as ours.

 

In all likelihood Cadance and Shining Armor are going to have one kid for now.

Shame that the whole theory of Starlight being Shining Armor and Princess Cadance's child wasn't legit.
