Pony shippers, why u no make sense? Discord shipping

I never understood the logic behind "Dislestia" (discord x Celestia) Thing is, Sunbutt IllumiNeighty horse isn't even the representative of harmony. She - and Luna- were only weilders of the elements of harmony, in the past. Never were they embodiements of harmony, on their own, which would mean that Discord, taking the "opposites attract" junk that is the only thing weakly gluing the ship together, isn't even the case.

 

The rival to chaos is harmony, so with that logic, Discord should, by every right, be shipped with the Tree of harmony.

There is no sense in shipping. All you gotta do, is either ignore it, or you jump on the ride and enjoy it.

Eh, there's alot of ships that don't make sense. I was always confused as to why people only ever ship Fluttershy with Discord big mac or Rainbow dash like they're the only 4 characters that exist. And if i remember rightly, the official MLP manga had a ship in it that was, and I swear I'm being serious when I say this, the golden oaks library (the building / tree itself) x the golden oaks library (The library part inside.) Oh yes, Twilights old house x the inside of Twilights old house

Now you see, your problem is that you're trying to apply logic to shipping. Shipping requires no logic.

 

Edit: According to MLPWikia, there are about 2096 characters in MLPFIM from show and comics.

 

So if I did calculations correctly, there are 2 195 560 different shipping combinations.

Nah, nah, it was some other tree x the library tree. Not sure if that other tree was sentient normally or if Twilight brought it to life, but in any case the tree had a thing for the library tree and Twilight brought the library tree to life for him...

I'm always stunned at how people don't "get" certain ships.

Unless it's intentionally insane for the luls, almost all of them have SOMETHING interesting. Some hypothetical romantic situations that they could bring to the table. But as a lover of Dislestia, I will say what things I (and others) like about it or consider ship fuel. But I'll try to keep it simple so I don't blabber on for hours.

 

- Opposites attract; a common romance trope

- Foe Yay, explained here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FoeYayShipping

- Beauty and the Beast; another common romance trope

- Both immortals, neither will die on the other

- Celestia had enough faith in Discord as a person to ask Fluttershy and the Mane 6 to try and reform him.

- The "I missed you" line.

- The bouquet of flowers.

- Celestia inviting him to the Gala and being the only one to giggle at his stand up comedy.

(You know nothing of shipping if you don't think a popular ship can survive on things like this.)

- Both voice actors supporting it helps.

-The idea that Celestia is probably incredibly restricted in her life as a ruler of Equestria. Luna's back again, so that can take some of the weight off, but still. Centuries of dealing with nothing but politics and stuffiness while trying to be perfect and proper... It would drive ME crazy, that's for sure. People like the idea that Discord could bring some levity and fun into her life.

 

And then personally for me, I like to imagine what interactions in their past could have been like.

Also personally, I really enjoy romance where love starts to break through people's barriers.

I also just think they look really cute together.

 

 

 

 

EDIT: And knowing shipping, I'm willing to bet Discord IS shipped with The Tree of Harmony.

Well, saying that "Dislestia" makes no sense just because Celestia is not exactly the opposite of chaos and, therefore, they are not actually opposites for the "opposites attract" trope makes no sense. They are still opposites: Celestia is the magnificent goddess that rules Equestria and, with her sister, does the best to maintain order; while Discord is the evil villain that messes everything just to have fun. And that's how it makes no sense: they are opposites in every single way, not only in an way that would make them fit together. But, of course I wouldn't try to force shippers to make sense, I know that some people like crazy stuff; but I don't see how you can have fun without having sense with it, and I don't see how entirely nonsensical shippings could be romantic in any way.

I don't do shipping, but I don't have trouble with shippings; I even think some of those, although nonsensical, are cute. With one exception... I absolutely love Princess Celestia, so I hate "Dislestia". I hate to see the magnificent goddess that gives away her eternity to allow life to exist in Equestria together with her opposite: such a low selfish villain like Discord. Those "Dislestia" pictures always make me cringe; I can barely see the very word written. I despise it so much! But, this is already becoming a vent for me to express my frustration over how some people like what disgusts me... And, sorry, I also don't mean to offend anyone that likes any shipping, but that one offends me profoundly. I just wish shippers could be a little more discreet, but I know they are just doing their thing and it's not fair for me to want that... I'm sorry.  This post surely was a vent.   Anyway, logic surely isn't something to consider when talking about shipping, so the ones that are not shippers should probably just ignore it...

Hey, it's okay. You don't have to like it. Just as long as you realize that people who DO like it can love Celestia as much as you do.

Tia is my top favorite pony. EVER. She's helped me through some seriously ugly stuff in my life just by imaging that she had my back.

I love her to pieces. Best princess, best pony, bar none. <333

 

Though I'm confused why you have this vision of such an evil Discord. You know he's reformed, yes?

Even when he wasn't, I never saw him as that evil. Selfish and a jerk, absolutely, but that's to be expected. He's got the social comprehension of a 6 year old boy, but he's an immortal reality warper. When you're that socially isolated and THAT powerful, it does some messed up things to your psyche.

 

I find Discord to be a REALLY interesting character psychologically, and I'm super proud of him for making so much personal progress.

I love seeing someone that's been at rock bottom climb out into the sunshine.

The only time I got mad at someone that didn't like Dislestia is when they told me I couldn't love Celestia because I shipped it.

I promptly told them to kiss my plot. No one tells ShadOBabe what pony she can and can't adore.
