movies/tv Anyone else thinking Season 19 of South Park kinda SUCKS?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE South Park. I pretty much am in love with the works of Trey Parker and Mathew Stone from South Park to Orgasmo to Book of Mormon, these two are geniuses and this cartoon is no secret to being just as great as all the other stuff they've done. BUT this season of there show seems...boring...like HOLY CRAP is it more flat than a day old open can of Coke. I can't even quite place my finger on what exactly is wrong with it but what I find wrong is that the episodes are getting more and more predictable, nothing THAT out of the ordinary and let's face it these whole new characters they're trying to have in are just pointless and kind of dumb even for the show's standards if you ask me.

Am I the only one thinking this way?

Well I do think the PC thing has gone on for too long. Anyone who's absorbed recent media lately has had enough of the refutals to PC culture already. I'm kinda over it. Unless it personally affects me I don't need to hear about what the Big Bad Tumblr Feminists did to ruin this week. I can imagine it already. I know the issues themselves are important, but the satire is just way too late. I don't think the majority of people are outwardly pushing for anything SP is joking about lately. I think its more inner control than anything, although I do know groups who are "advising" people how to not be offensive in the "21st" century. In other words, by not criticising anything at all, which is total wash and definitely points to a major social problem. But we know this.

It's been done through and through by a million different people to the point where criticising radical feminism can be classified as a meme. So honestly, yes. It's a bit overdone and SP should really be looking towards some fresh content that gets away from this melodrama we already have laughed at. It's not funny what they do now, it's just sad, tedious, and annoying.  Like the Klu Klux Klan.

I think the huge issue with South Park is that it is pretty much relying completely on pop culture and modern events now. I know that is something that made South Park famous but it barely seems to provide any of its own humor. Honestly, the show lost me entirely after season 18, where all of this became painfully obvious to me, especially after the whole PewDiePie worship thing in the finale of that season. I pretty much knew the show had lost its magic then. Hell, the Stick of Truth is faaaaaar more original than any of their new stuff now, even if that game is also filled with pop culture humor. It still has its own creativity to hold it up.

South Park ran out of ideas years ago.  Early seasons contained brilliant satire and many old episodes are classics.  But as the years went by the series devolved into nothing but toilet humor, shock humor and pop culture references.  These elements were always present, but they used to be backed by brilliant writing, now that that is gone what has remained has become unpleasant to watch.

Nothing last forever.  There was a time when the Simpsons was actually good.  But you can't just run a show forever and expect it to remain good.  It is long past time to retire South Park.

I do believe that South Park has gone downhill in Season 19 than previous seasons, these days as a few of you said uses references to Pop Culture and Modern events. I know that Parker and Stone can do way better than that when making South Park. Another factor that South Park went downhill is that Chef is gone and he will never come back because his voice actor died.

One more is that they ran out of jokes and they are recycling old storylines, come on it has been 18 years since the show started and it has been funny for about 12 of them, I say that the show should be cancelled or Parker and Stone take time to make the episode as it has the feel it is a bit rushed.

I'm actually really enjoying this season so far.  There have been a few episodes that I don't like so much, but I really like this story arc and a lot of it has been really funny, at least to me.  I especially love PC principal and how he's always so tense and angry when someone does something politically incorrect.

18 sucked, but 19? I think 19 is the funniest one yet. South Park has always been a show that continuously pokes at the zeitgeist; the here and now. And the now is ripe for skewering. We live in a comically ridiculous age, with insane political correctness in the foreground and World War III on the looming horizon. A terrible time by any standard, unless you're willing to make fun of it.

South Park, more than ever, is rising to the occasion. Season 19 is a rich, satirical storyline chronicling the dangers of gentrification, censorship, and false narratives. It's Matt and Trey's great "fuck you" to all the horrible things about this generation. And it's absolutely hilarious.

But the parking wasn't that great. 2 1/2 stars.

I think the creators saw the damage the political correct did in 2014/2015 and decided to mock them. Look at the Law & Order episode and the whole hate campaign against gamers, comic fans and people who wants to keep their daily life as it is. I hope the Brony community stays strong against those psychos.

Its more story driven than previous seasons, most seasons had an underlying story for a few episodes but this one has kept the same story going all season thus far. Maybe its an experiment to see how fans react to a story driven season?
