Is Equestria Earth?

During the first season of the show, it was assumed by most that Equestria was all that existed in the mlp universe. However, we've seen new places such as the Crystal Empire which are grey areas on this topic. It's unclear if the Everfree Forrest and the Crystal Empire are under Equestrian rule or not. So, what do you guys think? Is Equestria Earth?

I kind of have a weird theory. It seems like the world was modeled after earth, because of the fact that the cities like Manehattan are named after real places. However, I think that Equestria is a weird sort of parallel universe to earth, where there are ponies instead of humans. Just a weird thought. I never actually really thought about it in depth before.

Well here's the thing, the celestial mechanics don't fit if it is Earth (at least I hope they don't, I don't want to find out about a secret kabal that been rotating the Sun for millennium), yet the celestial objects match up with Earth coordinates. Orion is a constellation that is explicitly stated in the show and you can only see Earth's constellations from Earth, because that's the only point where those star's light converges into that particular shape. So yes and no I guess?

Interestingly one of the comics from earlier this year actually gives an explanation for their Orion constellation. Btw... I've seen you around both here and on EQD, and I never knew what your name meant. Then a couple days ago I happened to be in a Mexican grocery store (never been to one before; Was a fun cultural experience) and I saw some kind of bottled drink labeled "Sidral Mundet".. What does it mean?

In the pilot, when Celestia is MIA, the sun doesn't rise for several hours.  This shows that her claim to raise the sun isn't BS, she is not just claiming credit for a natural phenomenon.  There is also Twilight raising the sun in Twilight's Kingdom & the fact that the ponies freaked out when both the sun & the moon were in the sky in Princess Twilight.  If their movement was natural, this would be common.  (Although, these are the folks who panicked over a Bunny Stampede.  Still, if all bunnies are like Angel Bunny...)

Even if you assume "magic" is really "psionics" (like in Darkover) & you don't accept either the movies or the comics, there is still a lot of evidence that several fundamental laws of physics are different.  For instance, time travel is canon & Einstein said that was a No-No

I really don't like what this implies. The idea that ponies are really just humans with different bodies is very absurd. They're their own separate species. This gives off the same feeling as thinking it's a parellel universe to Earth just because the names of locations are ponified versions of themselves, it isn't that deep.

My point is Equestria is not Earth, aside the fact it has a different shape of lands, the entire "Solar System" they have there is completely unstable, and only bound together by magic (Celestia moves the Sun). The planet either does not have normal day/night cycle, the orbits have been never been formed. Looks like it is an artificially created place for life or might be the planet had the sad fate of an object's gravity kicked it our of it's original place (sad Kurzgesagt reference here).
